Hmm. Based on what Leftos said, it really seemed like if we chose to start in the offseason we'd be treated to the full expansion process. Could you go back and double check it without simming the draft?

I'll be able to when I get home myself this afternoon (5PM) but I'd rather not wait that long for the answer.

Also, again I only looked at it for like 3 min and it was at 5 am, lol, so maybe I was half asleep. But, the expansion draft was NOOOT before the draft. ITs League realignment--HOF inductees-HOF---Draft Lotto--draft--free agency--then expansion draft.


Keep in mind obviously there is staff signing in between and all that stuff, but im talking about the important stuff.


Can someone clear this up for us?

Draft Class Improvements

Draft Classes can now be imported and edited at ANY point (read: editing can happen AFTER importing while the season is ongoing). Additionally, Draft Classes created in-mode can be saved to their own files as well.

- If you import a draft class mid-season, we'll do catch up scouting, simulating the scouting that teams would've done up to that point in the season.
- Custom rosters should have the uniforms updated too whenever you load into your save, yes.

^Yes, draft classes can be imported (and edited) at any time during your MyLeague. The game will do catch-up scouting as well, so you won't be at a disadvantage if you do wait (which the majority of us probably will do).

So for anyone who has the game, i seen a few Posts talking about how the Sim Stats are not looking good, and that one of the problems that plagued us last year with the dish to open man tendancy

Are we able to edit that when we edit draft classes, during the season.

Should be getting the game tonight, cant wait, to start up my expansion team!

I'm considering starting a dynasty thread myself. I'm a bit of a tradtionalist so I don't really plan on doing anything too crazy. However, there should be plenty of interesting stories with all of the different ways to play the game (expansion, starting from before the draft, etc.) Some of those dynasty guys are really in-depth with their stories and have awesome look graphics. It's kind of intimidating for a dynasty noob like me.

I'm looking forward to seeing the dynasty boards this year -- really felt 2K16 gave them a shot in the arm and 2K17 is going to give them an adrenaline shot straight to the heart (Pulp Fiction style) with how many possibilities there are.

We're a welcoming bunch over there, don't be intimidated -- we all have different styles and the way you start isn't necessarily how you'll end up. My first dynasty thread on OS (linked in my sig, "Picking Up The Pace") wasn't good in retrospect, but I wouldn't be here if people weren't encouraging.

Okay, off my soap box and onto the topic at hand:

This year I plan to take full advantage of the MyLeague Expansion process. I'm going to start up two teams using the "Start in Offseason" option and alter the way the league went. 30 team control (well, 32 now) with my primary team (AKA, the one I'm going to write about and control all facets of) will be an expansion team based in St. Louis (since they just lost the Rams, they have a hole in their collective sports-hearts that I aim to fill). The other expansion team will be based in Kansas City (for a regional rivalry, if I can manage it).

I'm setting both teams in the West and moving Memphis to the East. I expect both expansion teams to be slaughtered in the upcoming season.

I'm going to go ahead and opt for Kansas City to be the Knights (it makes sense thematically with the other teams in KC, like the Chiefs and Royals). St. Louis is a harder name to pick ... the default Sounds isn't that bad (the town has a thriving musical community and history, ranging from Ragtime, Blues, and Jazz) but seeing as how the Jazz are a musical name (and a good one), I want to aim for something a bit more unique.

It's going to be quite a challenge to see if I can get my expansion team to matter in the near-future ... and I'm really looking forward to it.

I was considering going with the St Louis Silverbacks. Closest connection I could come up with was the great zoo and gorilla exhibit they have, I like the alliteration, and I like the in game logos they already provide.

NICEEEE. Was considering an alternate history league myself but the idea just seems overwhelming -- so much to consider in an alternate history league. I hope you post it on the dynasty board, I'll be eager to see how you approach it.

Hey can anyone who has the game tell me if we can use a custom roster with the "Start in offseason" setting in My League? I saw in Mike Lowe's stream that we can use a custom draft class. I create my own fictional league and would love to be able to jump right in and replicate the last draft class I got to in 2k16. Thanks

^I believe the answer to this is yes. As I recall, Leftos (2K dev) said that the expansion process can take place in either Start Today, Start in Offseason, or Normal Start for MyLeague/MyGM. If it was done during Start in Offseason, then the game would account for that when determining draft order (expansion teams aren't automatically granted the 1st overall pick, they can only go as high as 4th in the lottery I think).

B. I'm on PC and 2K didn't tell us that the game wasn't going to release on Steam till 10AM Pacific time.

In the MyLeague calendar, every once in awhile you see a tv monitor or clipboard with the NBA logo in the center on the top right corner of your gameday opponent. What does that mean? Is it a practice thing? A notice that its a nationally televised game? Anyone know? My curiosity is killing me.

Sorry to go off-topic but since so few people are on PC that I know play sim, would you be up for a head-to-head game sometimes? I lost Vni for my sim online gaming since he moved to consoles ( traitor :P )
