Everything lol. I've learned my lesson, I'll be backing up my save in 5 different spots this time.

Unlucky. Ive noticed Advanced Rotations cause the game to crash, but I dont think they are part of the roster file.

I've gotten things running pretty smoothly lately and am really enjoying the game. MyGM is a blast and I've really enjoyed going through the process of relocating. I like that you have to work for it. All the other management duties are good too and I like that managing pricing actually feel like it means something and not just a chore.

Couple things that are still bugging me though.
          1. I understand basketball is a game of runs but it seems over done in 2k17. In my opinion it's the, reason I'm seeing such absurd shooting percentages. I've played about 80 games and there doesn't seem to be much middle ground. If a team starts hot they are probably going to be hot all game. If they start slow they are probably going to be iffy all game. I can routinely tell within the first 3 minutes of most of my games who's going to win. And I'm not complaining because it happens to both me and the CPU. Maybe that's more realistic I dunno but it's not fun. I either decimate the CPU and have real high percentages or the CPU decimates me with real high percentages. I very rarely get close back and forth games.

          2. Kinda hand in hand with number 1. But I rarely feel like I lost to a better team or that the CPU just played better. Almost every game I lose, it seems like the CPU gets way better defensively, lots of bumping and physical play, which is great because I want the CPU to play better and harder. But it also makes my CPU teammates horrible. It's an absolute circus. Guys forget how to cover, can't pass , can't shoot, can't rebound. It doesn't happen often but when it does it just feels pointless and cheap, like why am I playing I could've just simmed this disaster. I just want the CPU to beat me because they are better not because they nerfed my team. NHL did this for years, they couldn't put competent enough AI in so they made the goalies super human and it drove me nuts.

Anyways I'm enjoying the game now more than ever but I thought I'd share some minor gripes in hopes they can be looked into.

Anyone having issues getting fast breaks? CPU seems to cut off any type of run out no matter what.

              Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

Got the game late this year. I mainly play MyCareer and MyTeam. Just started with MyCareer and I have to say there is too much BS this year.
Watching me walk out of the hangar, watching me walk into the hangar. Reading text messages, answering text messages. Going to the gym. Going to team practice. Watching cut scene here, watching cut scene there. I think I have "played" now for over 3+ hours but it feels like I only played 20 minutes actual basketball.
Worst part ist the team practice you have to do. Last years shooting drills were ok but I already hated the "late game drills" back then. Also the practice 5v5 are a huge waste of time. I want to play REAL matches, I get nothing from the practice stuff. It takes way too long and isn't fun. I'm ok with the mini games, even though they are more a gimmick, it doesn't take a lot of time to finish them.

I'm just wondering what is next for MyCareer. Do they include a Cooking Mama mini game in 2k18, where you can bake your own casserole that gives you random stat boosts if you consume them before the game? Do we have to drive to the gym with a car, GTA style? This is all a bit too much for me. I still like MyCareer for what it is, making your way to the top of the NBA but the stuff that surrounds it is too distracting and not fun at this point.

I'm leaning towards being done with this year's game. I love basketball and there are a lot of things I love about 2k17, but there are more things that I hate. I was very open on the show with the Czar regarding how much I hated 2k15. In some ways, 2k17 is uglier.

The warping, sliding, speed boosts, terrible AI on both sides of the ball, loose ball magnetism by the opponent AI(which is really comical in ProAM), loose ball obliviousness by your teammates, a lack of control...It all just makes me feel like this game sucks. And I'm dominating. I just played against Kawhi Leonard and was disgusted by all of his warping and cheating. I still made him go cold by blocking his shot, stealing from him, contesting shots and I shot 70% against him and we won by 20.

It's not about winning and losing. It's about control and honest, balanced gameplay, which 2k17 struggled with out of the box and seems to be getting worse with passes. We asked, (in my case specifically), to have the absurd balloon pass taken out of the game. That's it. That one, really slow, obviously wrong pass. What happens? Now we have several bullet passes that are impossible to react to(literally, because ball travel speed-input latency+animation startup=2k PLS! ).

I know this wasn't on purpose. I know they're all working hard. I know their schedule was unfairly(and unwisely) shortened. Thing is, I don't believe that this can all be fixed with the devs quietly reading some of our posts and then bunkering up and patching things. I think they need stronger engagement with the community so that we can specify exactly what the good, knowledgable players feel will result in better game balance across all modes.

This isn't about what I'll do, because who cares and frankly my editors decide how much I can draw comics and how much I can game and I'm good with that. This is about honesty and letting the folks at 2k know that in my opinion, this isn't good enough. The defense isn't doing some things that hardcore players are nitpicking on, they're doing absurd things that anyone who's ever heard of basketball would laugh at. When that's the situation, you've gotta engage your community so we can all work towards getting the beautiful game that could be 2k17 out from behind the terrorist exploit fest holding it hostage.

Unless either something urgent pops up or we start up the new season of SimHangout, I'm done with the boards. I got a lotta work to do and there are a lot of games I've been ignoring while drawing ROMULUS and my Marvel work.

I genuinely hope things get better, but unless the devs start engaging the community more, these boards are just going to be thread after thread of complaints and deservedly so. I can't be around here for that.
This take from a month ago today was right on target (my emphasis added).

                  Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

At this point i don't really see much of a reason to play this game anymore. It's terrible. I'm not here to bash the devs, but i have to be honest... This game just simply isn't good enough. Basic basketball principles are missing or barely represented. It's not a true simulation nor should it ever be called one by anyone who even has a decent grasp of the game of basketball.

It's time that 2K introduces a better more life like rotation system in their game, because this one simply doesn't cut it (it's absolute crap and the unrealistically tight on ball d is a band aid to cover the scar up).
Guys are out there making the most bone headed rotation/help d mistakes I've seen on a basketball court. These are not even basketball mistakes. middle school kids don't even make silly mistakes like you see on d in this game.

The way this game translates difficulty is absolutely disgusting. They will shift players out of the way regardless if your're controlling them or not, Players will stop playing to their rating to score or get a needed stop(especially on the fast break! Apparently John Wall and Timofey Mozgov are the same speed). Warping on defense and offense... All for the sake of hiding their oh so very poor A.I which seemingly runs on the most linear module i have seen in any basketball game. They can't even recognize and move around teammates let alone the defense when running offense.

All in all, for anyone who's looking to pick this game up, just know that it is far from a sim. this is honestly one of the worst 2K's I've played (played every single one since the original dreamcast). It's such a shame man. All i wanted from this game was smooth controls, free player movement, and a fair game of hoops that makes sense. NBA 2K17 achieves non of that. It's very disappointing.

I don't understand the ACE system. 2k makes it sound like it's an AI thing ("everyones shooting % and PPG went down" etc) but it seems to effect my offensive/defensive settings as well? Can I no longer set my offensive strategy while ACE is enabled? What exactly does it do?

I can't put my finger on it but something just doesn't feel right about this game. I usually always like the new iteration over the previous year's 2K, but this is probably the first time I prefer the older version. 2K16 just felt better. Something about the gameplay feels off to me in 17. I think the players have less weight to them than last year. The overall feel of the game is more arcadey than 16

IMO, physics is very important in every sports game and 2k failed miserably in this area, at least in my career mode where there is no sliders to save it a little bit. I play mainly sports games and never had such bad experience with a game like this.

It sucks because I do like basketball game and spent some money on it to experience different builds but the game for me is just 50% basketball and 50% fighting against the failed physics.

Unless something changes drastically I'll leave my 2k impressions as this.

I've been one of the people who have been massively critical of 2k17. At this point after hours and hours of slider tweaks and whatever else 2k have tuned, I've gotten mostly the game I've hoped for. I still get some weirdness here and there and some times feel the games being unfair but overall I'm having a blast now. Should I have had to put that much work into making the game play how it is? No but it is what it is and I'm glad I stuck it out.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Mygm is absolutely terrific and super engaging. It's the first time in a long time that I've felt like investing time into multiple years in a franchise.

can you post a slider set.

I have yet to complete an entire game, due to all the issues, especially defensive issues in the game. Ive actually gone back to 2k15. IMO thats the version that plays most like todays NBA.

I havent given up on 17 entirely yet though. Im waiting for the next patch before I call it quits with 17 entirely.

The game has its flaws but i enjoy it a lot.
I use Turty's Roster, Armor & Sword's sliders (with some minor adjusments) and I turn off ACE (as it seems broken) and it's significantly better in my opinion.
                                give it a try guys!
