I played college ball. I can honestly say that I am faster with the ball than without.. Now lateral qickness should take a hit unless its a john wall type but straight line speed im ok with it being higher

A slasher should definitely be more explosive than a playmaker. I doubt 2k will change it but as it stands it's way harder to check a playmaker because of their speed with ball & ball control.

Slasher should have slightly higher swb than playmaker because not all playmakers are quick off the dribble. I'm okay with the playmaker having 94 ball control but the added swb is overkill lol. Slasher should at least have around 85 swb because as it stands my sharpshooter had the same swb as a slasher and that's not very logical.

With all due respect, I can think of no physical reason how someone can be faster dribbling a basketball compared to sprinting without dribbling.

Its hard for me to explain.. Like you run faster with the ball on the break then without it.. why? Idk maybe adrenaline or maybe you just want it more

Pushing the ball out in front of you also makes you accelerate faster than you would without the ball.. That could explain it

              I've played basketball, too.

I guarantee you that every single person is faster without the ball. Go to the gym with your friends, get them to time you sprinting baseline to baseline, then have them time you doing it with a ball.

There are guys who seem to "pick up an extra gear" when they have the ball in their hands, but I think that's deceptive. The reality is that other players aren't in a dead sprint without the ball--you're trying to find your man, you're running through traffic, you're finding your lane on the break, keeping your spacing, etc. This is why, I think, some guys may seem faster with the ball.

                Yup.

There's is not one person in the world who can run faster dribbling a ball than they can running without the ball.

It could be true that someone runs faster with the ball than without but if so, it is because that person has mentally made the decision to run faster now that they have the ball in their hand. Not because running while dribbling has somehow enhanced their speed.

I think what most of us are saying is that If that individual put forth maximum effort while doing both, there is no way that he would he FASTER while dribbling

^^^ Im wasnt disagreeing with that at all.. I didnt mean for it to sound like I can physically run faster with the ball but on the court you do intentionally run faster with the ball.. should that happen in the game ? Maybe not..

Re: Speed With Ball Rating Test (SWB)

my thought on why players have higher SWB than speed, is so there is an illusion of "burst" on drives to allow players to get around a slower defender rather than having the same issues we've had the entire lifespan of "next-gen" where any big could stop any ball-handler from getting past him.

It's the only explanation i have for this other than 2k messed up really bad and swapped SWB and speed on accident during roster creation, which i highly doubt

Re: Speed With Ball Rating Test (SWB)

What an interesting topic. I would love to find out why the rating system is the way it is for speed with and without the ball. I believe someone mentioned this, but i believe it's one of those ratings that although unrealistic, it was used in a way to enhance a players ability. For example, Steph curry and his unstoppable scoring. I mean his overall speed is dramatically different from his SWB in this game, if you apply this much of a difference to other players, then you have a bunch of steph currys. I haven't looked at other ratings to compare the difference, but im willing to bet Curry has the biggest difference in overall speed and SWB. I say that was done intentionally in order to match his realistic self.

However, i don't know how the ratings work so it doesn't make sense to me to make it that way. IDK man, idk.
