Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
I hate this stupid topic year after year. You know what you have to do to get your My Player to whatever ridiculous high level you want within the first couple of weeks. It's NOT a surprise! Period.
Having said that...you have a choice...buy or don't buy VC. Buy or don't buy the game. Is it really that hard? Please, don't give me the lame excuse of I got a job, kids, wife, blah, blah, blah. If your time is that limited, then MAYBE you might want to get a game that's better at instant gratification. You don't buy GTA then get mad, because the story is too long to accommodate your busy life.
Getting VC is not that much of a grind. I'm sitting on 30K, and all I played was PNO (legit played BTW). People just want to level up quickly and compete at a high level in My Park or Pro-Am on Day 1. At least there's an OPTION to do it quicker if you're willing to pay.
Someone used COD as an example. Newsflash, you wear the equivalent of the brown sweatpants on Day 1, and you HAVE to play the game to unlock better stuff. Period. Unless they changed, because I did skip BO3 last year.
Lastly, it's not going to change. As it's been stated before, 2K Sports is a business. Get over yourselves. I REALLY hate this new gamer attitude where they think game companies have to put the gamer first (per se) in EVERY business decision. At some point, the game companies have to make BUSINESS decisions to make a PROFIT to CONTINUE improving and introducing games. I don't want it be a situation where Little Timothy is happy spending ONLY $60, but the company is unable to fund new games as a result.Last edited by ksuttonjr76; 09-23-2016, 12:02 PM.Comment

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
So let me get this straight? You want 2K to change their very profitable VC model and explain this to the shareholders why they lost revenue?
Maybe I have a different perspective being a business owner, but if my business found a way to double revenue while still putting out a solid product, I would absolutely jump on it.
Would people call me greedy? Sure they would. But those people are generally interested in how much they can get, as much as I am interested in how much I can make. In business if you can make a bunch of money while putting out a solid product, you win!
I thought 2K's VC model was a brilliant business idea. Apparently so does the millions of gamers that purchase it. Yes, some people will lament the implementation of it. But they will do it while they are playing the game. At the end of the day, money talks. People will ALWAYS be upset about something, but as long is it doesn't impact the bottom line, it's not relevant. A little harsh, but trueComment

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
I bought 30 dollars worth of VC because I work a full time job and can afford it and also because I enjoy mycareer and mypark
My biggest gripe is that when I buy VC to help make a character to play in park or pro-am and they are terrible I am out 30 dollars and tons of time(practices and grinding badges) and I know for a fact that 2k wont come and try to balance anything. The archetype post scorer is useless because the stats they decided to give him are fundamentally terrible I also feel sorry for slashers. Why is my close shot maxed at 73? sure I can back down but then I just get instantly ripped up by a pg with hall of fame pickpocket who can still shoot threes mid range and dunk.
Now some will say JUST REROLL but i dont want to i dont have the time to play 12 min quarters everyday for 400 VC a game and 1 hour of my life wasted. Im pretty sure it takes over 300,000 VC just to get to 85 you know how ****ing long that takes just playing casually? you'll never be able to compete with anyone in any other game mode.
Back to the topic.
I don't mind the grind when I play offline, though as a casual player, I usually don't max out my player, not because I don't want it, because I don't have time to 'grind' all day like the guy I quoted. Year after, the new game is out, my dude is still sitting around 80 overall. Again, I don't mind it offline. I can still fill out the stats sheet offline against the AI, even with my low overall rating.
However, online is a different story. We all have buddies who would want to play at the Park and Pro AM. When I take my 67 post scorer online, it's laughable. Seriously, we haven't played anyone in park on pro am who aren't maxed out. Sure, we can beat some teams even with their maxed out ratings sometimes, but 90% of time we lose because, obviously maxed players ultimately gets the advantage. And when you're a big, and you play against a stretch big who can shoot from mid court, it truly takes away the 'fun' out of the game. I know it's MyPark, but cmon.
So for players like myself, this takes away two features of the game already, pro-am and mypark. I kind of wish we have different lobbies for different rating scales. 55-65 rated players gets their own lobby, 65-75 gets their own, etc.Comment

what you name is not the cause, but it's the effect. and of course it will not be changed, because too many people fall for it. 2k has set a trap and soooo many people walk into it with open eyes, it's ridiculous. it's like fishing with a blank hook and still catching the biggest fish, cos the fish is too stupid and will bite anyways.Comment

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
The issue is that 2k is an esports game now. Or masquerading as such. That's why, to me, it's crazy the mode is so dependent on money/grind.
You should be able to refund VC at the very least. Delete your guy and get it back...
If they want true competition, I think they need a mode where it's 5 v 5 (10 humans, ranked) that you don't need to grind at all to play. Doesn't mean delete MC, but give us something even if it's just got 50 different archetype players that are preset.
Unrelatedly: I feel like myplayer archetypes should also have set height/wt, wingspan, and have more of them, for easier balance.

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
congrats for totally missing the point here. the discussion should solely be about the fact that 2k went for a game design that is nothing but about making people buying vc AFTER they have bought a full priced aaa game. and they keep on "improving" that game design year after year. and that's just right bitch move from their side.

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
You have to think about what it means to spend money to progress. You gain artificial experience or VC but miss out on the hours you could have spent enjoying the journey.
The way I think about it is that if I pay $60 for the game I get the hours of game play leading up to the level that you would have to pay another 100 dollars to reach. So if it takes 100 hours of game play to reach a maxed out MP I get to enjoy that and the same experience that those who paid for VC get.
But the problem arises when casual players want endgame experience with out either putting in the work or paying for it.
I play warframe and enjoy the grind but not enough for me to pay for endgame content or spend the hours grinding. But if I did and it was enjoyable then I would spend those 2-300 hours enjoying the journey, and that's a free game.
It only took me a week to have a decent MP and Myteam and that's two modes that offer endless content. Not to mention my park, pro-am, My league, PNO and whatever else you like to do with your time. For 60 dollars. And people complain about it! It blows my mind!

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
I understand perfectly what the OP is saying. I don't see how everyone just willingly accepts this to be honest.
The reason why I avoid mypark and pro-am is for the exact reasons stated already, you end up faces highly rated players online way to often so one is forced into two decisions to compete:
a: spend real money on VC to compete with players without grinding or,
b: grind your *** off till you earn the VC.
The first favors the people who do have the time to play 100+ games of Myplayer. To put it frankly, I don't and I would really love to play pro-am at a competitive level. But I'm not rich ethier so I don't spend money on in-game items after I already dropped 60 on the game.
I get it, this is business, trust me I do but I also understand where the OP is coming from. If I wanted to enjoy playing pro-am or mypark with friends...who probably grinded or purchased VC, then I'm ***-out.
As someone mentioned, there should be a tier system like most online games. Low rated scrubs like myself can play with like minded scrubs and still enjoy the game without even having to touch mycareer.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Make MyPark and Pro-Am separate from MyCareer.
Pro-Am - Pick a class/archetype, no ratings system or rating upgrades. Pick a type of player and go. Then put max on heights, weight, wingspan, per position.
MyPark - same deal, no ratings, just pick an archetype and go. You can use VC for cosmetics, animations and such.
With no ratings involved, badges, etc. It will all comes down to shotstick skills or timing. There's your eSport.Comment
