for those freaking out how big the patch it.. the way the patches are downloaded are they either delete the previous patch and redownload it with the additional changes so it also has a chance of being smaller than before

or some people saw that the file took mins due to the it just adding in the patch changes and not actually downloading the entire 7gigs

If they released the game in November....many of the bugs would still be in the game.

Most internal testing teams are maybe 100 people at the most. They can catch a good deal of bugs. The reason why bugs seem to be identified quickly after release is because MILLIONS of people are playing the game. That significantly increases the likelihood that a bug will be found.

So even 2 players played the game and didn't realize subs were not going in?

Lol, they must have been great players / testers

Some of the bugs are glaring.

I saw tons of bugs and mistakes after only playing the game for a few hours. The bugs were so obvious that the only conclusion I could come to was:

"They knew this wasn't working, but it was due and they had no choice but to release it and fix it later."

Right now we're in the "fix it later with a patch" stage of 2k.

Those bugs likely happened after the game was locked. So my question for you is:

Would you rather they have pushed back the release date to today just to fix those bugs or release the game and fix it later with patches?

I am simply saying that when the game went LIVE, if you would make a sub in a time-out, the player would not get in the court, until NEXT dead ball

This was obvious to anyone who played their first game

They need a closed Alpha in July or August, some of the stuff that's exploitable should have been easily spotted with an alpha or beta.

A lot of us here came from 8 bit consoles where if the game was released broken (River City Ransom, I'm looking at you) you were just SOL. One of the reasons I went to PC gaming for a minute was due to patches and community mods to fix issues or make workarounds. Updates and patches for consoles are a great thing.

The screen game is absurd right now. Something needs to be done to help defense there.

Yup and it's ruined the Parks too 2 stretch big Centers setting double screens with no way to properly help and recover, its ridiculous

No, you're right, other games I play do tend to release patches on all platforms at the same time (Witcher III is one -- and that company is probably the gold-standard for how a company should interact with one's consumers) but I'll give 2K a break here.

I'm almost certain we're dead last in priority, but I'm also supremely thankful we still get sports titles at all from them. EA got out of the PC market with sports titles years ago and 2K could easily do the same if they wanted.

Good point on the release date, but I still kinda hate it. I appreciated the fact that the game came out the same month (generally speaking) the NBA actually started playing, but having it a full 6-7 weeks before regular season tip-off is just ... strange. I know Madden does a similar thing, but it always bugged me, too.

I totally get the 'take what you can get' mindset of having sports games on PC at all (I was still playing modded MVP Baseball 2005 not that long ago, as it beats nothing) but that still doesn't make it feel less insulting to get the previous patch as the next one is being sent out to someone else.

It's like going to a restaurant and being seated at the same time as another table, while ordering the exact same meals for the same price. If they're getting their meals at the same time as I'm getting appetizers/salads then I'm going to be cranky (I'm hungry and I can smell these patch notes from over here!). If this is happening every Sunday when I go out for lunch, I would probably stop going there...only problem is they're the only restaurant in town to serve authentic fajitas. It sucks.

It's much nicer to have a game closer to the season, absolutely. We don't even have finalized rosters yet. I just hope it stays consistent whatever they wind up deciding on.

There is NO WAY this game was tested

Two things:

It wasnt obvious to me until today. Why? Because I use auto subs. Dont assume that everyone plays the same way.

Did they fix that bug one of the previous patches? If they did, that means that the bug was likely identified before release but after the game was locked. So that means its possible that their internal testing identified the bug before release.

What was broken with River City Ransom? My best friend and I played the hell outta that game and I don't remember anything being too bad. BTW, just had an image of the bath house scene pop in my head. Lol!

So we get a game before NBA teams started training. And we're seeing 2K17 actively being updated before the NBA season starts, and yet we complain???

For those that are familiar with development cycles, one would know there are a number of "across the board" considerations being made in their 2K17's patch management plans.

I wouldn't be surprised what we're seeing are pre-planned releases before 2K17 was actually released. Face it, 2K17 is much larger than a single DVD disk, so incrementally updates would be needed. Sooner we get them, better off we'll be, be patient.
