Question: how does progression work? Can you just go in and change attributes up or down after you start the season? (Never played MyLeague)

You can do that, but the whole point of the My League career is that the progression is natural. You're guy will progress after every season automatically. The progression is based on your peak start, peak age end, and your players potential.

This is definitely the way to play especially if you play offline. It was kind of like a low key secret! Always had a fear that 2k would change the way it plays when you player lock if they knew how popular it really was.

I have been playing this way since 2k14. I have not touched My Career or Road to the Show mode since 2014 no Stubbs no VC no additional money spent.

MLB removed a lot of Player Lock features in 2016 because statistics showed that no one plays the game that way. I hope 2k does not do the same and embraces it and gives us additions to support this style of play! Body types would be huge for this style of play (entire game). I figure if body types don't happen by 2k18 that ship has sailed and will loose interest!

Also wish you could watch the game from the side line with player lock. I will never understand how someone who plays the game from a competitive perspective could allow the idea screen of a screen fade out only to fade back in and have your team be down by points and you don't even know why! MLB 16 did a terrible job at this! More like sitting there praying please let me be up and not down!

If anyone has a alternative to the screen fade using player lock please post thanks!

How much better do they typically get per year?

You guys don't find scoring, rebounding, & getting assist to easy while doing player lock? Or do you hold back most of the time? I'm talking within the flow of the game, not forcing shots & stat padding.

If you want to play in a realistic manner then you need to do so. It is hard and I catch my self with bad habbits where I just "take over" for a lack of a better word but just play within the flow of the game and offense. Run plays use the clock etc. As far as rebounding just lower the attributes, I personally dont find it as an issue.

In my rookie year I am averaging 13.8/2.8/4.6 on 43/32/95 shooting as a 6'3" point guard.

No doubt, I tried it a bit but find my stats looking too good even while playing within the game. I was making progress. I got better with avoiding going for certain rebounds. The scoring a bit too but sometimes with passes a teammate will just launch a shot upon receiving the ball giving me an easy assist as a result. May give it another shot.

Like I said, it depends on the variables within the player how much each player improves season to season.

I noticed this as well. Simply just nerfed my stats a bit. I like playing with some of my favorite players all on one team. Not over powered though. I'm ranked 14th overall. Just a bunch of young upstarts. I think the most important thing, if you don't want to compromise your stats, is to allow your team to win or lose the game themselves. Find an identity for your player. Basically holding back and running plays. Like Kawhi could go get 30-40 but doesn't. Score when open. But I think nerfing stats like shooting, passing accuracy, defensive stats, will help. I personally created a 6'6 PG using Bruno Caboclo player model who's an athletic freak with good playmaking, average D, but ratings in the 50s and 60s for shooting. I'm rated at a 78. So I can't really take over anymore! Don't be adverse to losing or putting up great numbers for a stretch. It happens in the NBA. Also try using some custom sliders. Creweutah's sliders are what I use.

Thanks for this response. I think I'll try jumping back into it. Do the announcers still say Bruno's name even if you change it? I actually use those sliders for my standard 5 on 5 league so I'll feel right at home using them for player lock.

No problem. Nope, you can change his name to whatever you'd like. Bruno will be no more lol. And yeah man the sliders play great. Incredibly realistic.

                            FAVORITE THREAD EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad this thread is getting this much attention. I have been playing this way dating back to the original NBA 2K. I would create a player and Player Lock him. Also making every single roster move and lineup changes as needed. I get the best of both worlds. I get to play as a player and also build a team as a manager. Control the rotations during games. Post up who ever I want too. Iso who ever I want to. It is frikin awesome. The only difference is that I tend to create an established all star. 90 ovr 5'10'' PG (Clone of my 2k14 my career player) and usually take on a team that needs a pg that yr. This yr is the Bucks.

Devs need to pay more attention to this as I've been trying to bring this up to them for a while:

Think of the possibilities!!!! College, International play, NBDL. You can even "own a team" and play for them. I like playing my career but it gets old quick after 2-3 yrs. Rotations start getting messed up. Dumb trades/signings. in reality not alot of ppl play pass say 5-6 yrs in that mode. Lots of ppl just build up their my player for pro am.But what if you cant be online? Im a offline guy due to commitments. And if its revenue that 2k is worried about this will actually help them. Bcuz I for one will be upgrading my my player by buying VC. I really do hope one day 2k adds this feature. customization is a really big part of this community. The more options we can get the better.

But the way i do it is by recreating my last my player which was a 90 rated pg in 2k14 and using the player lock option to only contro him. I usually go to a bad team and try to rebuild around me in HOF mode. Lots of fun for me i really get invested.

I've been doing something else to try to give some balance to the MyLeague player lock experience. Every game I lock on a different player, including bench players. Fun as f*ck..

Actually got a player lock question I use player lock and try to play within the team and run to my spot on the floor when plays are called.

Sometimes when I am not able to get to my spot on the floor the CPU players will hold the ball often resulting in a thrown up shot or a shot clock violation unless I press triangle (PS4) the offense will then resume and the cpu will go for a much better shot.

Is there a way for this to be done without me pressing triangle each time?

                                Thanks.
