This is pretty much the best way to play this game.

Re: NBA 2k17 Player Lock Thread
Okay, I haven't posted in a while so here goes: 2018 draft we(Pelicans) selected Luka Doncic 5th overall. He had a pretty great rookie year; he started all 82 games at SG averaging 16.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 2.6 apg. He shot 45% from the field and 41% from 3, connecting on 184 of 446 3s. Davis averaged 20 and 12, while Cousins averaged 17 and 11. Valanciunas averaged 12 and 8.5 off the bench. We dealt Holiday for MKG right before the trade deadline he was solid for us; splitting time between the starting and the bench providing some good defense, he averaged 8 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 1.1 bpg/spg. My guy has built a reputation of being injury prone, having played 131 of 178 possible regular season games, he missed the last 13 games of 2018 and the first 2 rounds of the playoffs due to a broken wrist despite the injuries he still averaged 16.4 ppg, 6 rpg, 12 apg 2.7 spg and 1.8 bpg. We ended up beating the Cavs in 6 to win the championship after having lost in 6 the year before.
LeBron won his 5th championship and Finals MVP in 2018 and 7th MVP award in 2019.
My guy won ROY in 2017 and DeAndre Ayton won in 2018.
I also won 6MOY in 2017 and Bledsoe won in 2018.
Howard won DPOY in 2017 and Leonard won in 2018.
The biggest player movements have been the Pelicans trading for MKG/Valanciunas and signing Cousins, Klay Thompson signing with the Bulls and Noel signing with the T'Wolves.Say "No" to railroaded MC modes.Comment

Re: NBA 2k17 Player Lock Thread
Actually got a player lock question I use player lock and try to play within the team and run to my spot on the floor when plays are called.
Sometimes when I am not able to get to my spot on the floor the CPU players will hold the ball often resulting in a thrown up shot or a shot clock violation unless I press triangle (PS4) the offense will then resume and the cpu will go for a much better shot.
Is there a way for this to be done without me pressing triangle each time?
Thanks.
I havent noticed the triangle feature. But in general no. When a play is called and you are not in your spot the other four guys on ur team will wait on you. Thats the way the offensive AI is designed. Wat I do is I play PG and tend to call a play for other players right after the ball is inbounded. It helps to get to know your teams playbook and sets as i already tend to know which play i am going to run the next time down the floor. The quicker you call the play off the inbound the more time you will have to run something else if all fails.Comment

Re: NBA 2k17 Player Lock Thread
Player lock is great. Me and my brother have two separate GM modes playing together on the same team. We did a fantasy draft for both and picked a starter each and a bench player each (to sub on as a replacement). It's good fun. The sliders we have give us very competitive games too. Most games come down to the wire.Comment

Re: NBA 2k17 Player Lock Thread
Quick question.
How do you call for the ball in Player Lock?
I have the On Court Coach badge equipped but I'm not getting the ball immediately after calling for it. Sometimes I don't get it for the entire possession.
Anybody know how else to call for it other than spamming the pass button?Comment

You call for it the same way as in My Career. But the difference is that the gameplay is not scripted so you aren't just going to get the ball all of the time.Check me out: https://goo.gl/N8vDdZComment

Does your created player have the Play Initiator option set to yes?Comment

Re: NBA 2k17 Player Lock Thread
This is a great thread and deserves more attention. I used to player lock all the time back in my early 2k days with Iverson since the rest of his team was so bad. U end up getting a much more realistic flow to the season. I've been having trouble lately trying to find a team that is fun to play with. This thread reminded me of how much fun I had in those days. Thank you all for some great ideas. Gonna control my 2 favorite players Jimmy Buckets and Russ and see if I can duplicate their great seasons.

Re: NBA 2k17 Player Lock Thread
Just got into this thread, I started out with a 6'6 SG and put him on the Magic... trying for a Vince Carter type clone. I am using the YourPlayer mode that a Reddit user posted. This is a lot of fun!MLB: Cincinnati Reds
NBA: Boston Celtics
NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
NCAA: Indiana HoosiersComment

That's what it is, the lane just has to be clear before you call for it.
