Whatever. Without mentioning gameplay, graphics, jerseys, 17 extra classic teams, 30 all time teams, MyGm story, added My League inclusions, let alone adding a whole neighborhood... the game gets a 4/10 "because VC".
Lol my Lord.Comment

If we're not talking other companies then why are we comparing it to other MMOs?

Lol my Lord.
This is true.
And it's also true that 2k deserves all the crap it gets and more for VC.
And the poor fool who said he had to pay $20 in VC just to enjoy the game is why things will only get worse.
I'll try to enjoy MyGM and hope the fix what's broken in that mode.

When people by a 60 dollar game that is released yearly. They don't wanna find out that everything and I mean everything costs money.
It costs money to customize and upgrade your player. It costs money to buy packs.
And on top of that, 2K decides to reduce the amount of VC you get from playing the game.
If all you wanna do is Play Online and mess around in Franchise mode. Then yeah the game is okay.
If you wanna do anything else beyond that, the game is bad.Last edited by cablexdeadpool; 09-18-2017, 02:32 PM.Comment

Gameplay is amazing. Even if the storyline is corny i enjoy MyCareer.
BUT
Whats wrong with people pointing out the fact they went the greedy route ?
You have to pay for your own shoes even when you sign a damn shoe deal.
Lets talk about it, no ?
Half of the game is tied into VC.
MyGm you are stuck in a pseudo storyline that is the same for every one. And MyLeague is full of bugs.
Im a MLO player first but i wont even talk about how this mode is broken.
I mean you can enjoy 2k force feeding vc on people and thats okay.
Some other people obviously dont feel the same way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh and nobody compared it to other games. Its just that 2k tries to go the mmo route and its cool but the execution is flawed. some other poster brought up Elder Scrolls online but his argument was shut down.

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
First and foremost, VC is not the game.. VC is MyCareer and MyTeam, thats it. Plus, you earn VC for MyLeague, MyGM, Play Now, etc. games. Ive played 2 or 3 12 minute MyGM games and went from around 100 VC to 4200 VC. Just play 12 minute games because 1) its realistic, 2) its more efficient at earning VC in respect to time, and 3) if you dont have time in some cases for 12 minute games then either change the quarter length or save the game and finish later.
Second of all, IMO the people who are paying so much for VC for upgrades are only super impatient and just want to have the upgrades right away so they can dominate their career and Park right away. For them that's totally fine, i couldnt care less. But buying VC isnt essential, it just takes patience to get there. For me, I didnt go through the grind of 2K17 because I just didnt like it, but now I want to spend a lot of time in the neighborhood and the secondary archetypes are a big bonus so ill go through that grind this year. IMO i dont see why it isnt possible to get to a 90 or a 99 by December or January, and by then youre a top player by the time Christmas noobs and used copy dudes arrive so being a 99 early or right on time makes no difference once everyone finally has the game and Park competition is at its peak. So the extra paywalls suck, but if you use your VC smartly it shouldnt be a HUGE issue, and isnt that sort of the point with video games and specifically mmo's? to be smart with decisions?
Another thing is that its kind of funny to me that so many people (specifically the user reviewers) who complain about the lack of options in MyGM, yet make absolutely zero reference to MyLeague. If they want to expand or relocate at will, play MyLeague. MyGM was made a story-based mode, its highly unrealistic to expect the multitude of options like in MyLeague as well as the story part as well. With the amount of depth and features that mode would have, it would require a completely separate disk, and would most likely survive as its own separate game.
The one thing I really dont like about this game is all the arcade people that SHOULD recognize this game is an NBA sim first and foremost, yet SCREAM to devs for patches and changes to get this game as an arcade game. Its not an arcade game, stop trying to make it that!PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
The fellow who ran the numbers came up with it taking 240 NBA games if you get an A+ every game.
For me...On average I only have time to get in 4 games or so per day (including the time spent working on badges in the gym, getting my energy back,etc.).This equals to roughly 4 hours played.
At that rate, it will take me 240 hours, or 60 days to hit the initial max. That's 2 months....4 hours a day.....7 days a week...almost 30 hours spent per week.
IMO, that's not "fun" or a "challenge", that's equivalent to working a second job.All for something you get little return on and if the trend continues,I will have to repeat next year and invest even more time into.
Now I don't expect to be handed anything right out of the box; a bit of challenge and putting some work in is what I (and others) should and do expect, otherwise there isn't much point to it.
That being said,I, like most others, have other interests and hobbies outside of 2K. Being expected to put everything else aside and literally devote every minute of my gaming/free time to 2K18 to make significant progress is not acceptable.Again, it starts to look like a second job working for an overly demanding employer.
Most games today probably offer somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-100 hours of content, I would suggest getting the time required down somewhere into this range.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
Let me break it down. I made a playmaking PG with my secondary archetype a shot creator.
My ratings are well below the position average in every single attribute, with the exception of draw foul and a few that won’t help me in any way (post control, post hook, post defense IQ).
My speed is 75, which seems ok until you see that the average PG has a speed of 84. Passing vision, accuracy, and IQ? 68-69 for all three. The average PG has 83 accuracy, 78 vision, and 86 IQ. Driving layup is at 55, while the average is 85. Midrange? 57 for both open and contested, 54 for off the dribble. The position average for those three are 82/78/80.
How can I be a playmaking shot creator when I can’t pass, can’t shoot, and can’t make a layup?
This isn’t about wanting to be a superstar from day one. It’s about wanting to at least have an NBA level skill set for a player who is supposed to be in the NBA.
Of course, with those awful attributes, you need a boat load of VC to level up, assuming you want to hang on to the default hair, hair color, facial hair, etc., as well as wear the default clothing and no accessories.

I just made this point in another thread;companies are aware that our gaming time is a finite resource.IMO these ever increasing demands games put on our time is an intentional device to make microtransactions more attractive.Comment

Exactly, when people see how long it will take to get any sort of good but you have your friends that want to play Battlefield 1....and you STILL need to get around to finishing Uncharted, "dropping just 50 to get good right now" seems like a great idea.
I will never be convinced that isn't by design.
They didn't just miss all of them things while designing the game lol
