I've been telling people I play with "I kind of want to make a shot creator or glass cleaner" And then I think about the endless grind for a lot of badges that matter and it just makes me not want to play at all. Every year that's passed has worn on me more and more. I hope 2k doesn't think they can keep trotting out the same formula, but that's probably what they'll do. Thankfully I'm coming to the age where I've got other interests inside and outside of gaming and won't feel like I'm missing out on anything if they make us go through this trash again.

Bottom line is that the grind is too extreme, not fun, and doesn't suit the game.
- The grind is harder than an MMO (MMOs have 5-10 year life-spans).
- You have to grind again every year if you want to stay competitive online.
- There are barely any tools for the grind, you can't reallocate attributes.
- There's no information in the game on what you're supposed to do to grind.
- There's no concrete way to track your progress
- You can't grind with friends, you have to grind ALONE... offline only = BORING.
- The grind is crazy repetitive. From the constant loading of practices, to the constant spamming of moves for badges.
- The Mode (MyCareer) has no re-playability, it's not suitable for a grind.
Focus on basketball, focus on fun, focus on competition, focus on team play, focus on online play.... but for the love of god, delete this crazy/boring grind.
And not a VC grid but why oh why can't I play online with a classic team in an unranked game? I'm never ever going to be able to advance far enough to use them online.Gamertag and PSN Mrclutch1013

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
now that it looks like that you even have to pay vc to create a decent looking myplayer (as it seems, facial hair can only be bought with vc and haircuts you only have 5 to choose from, the rest ist behind the pay wall), i can clearly say that 2k pushed the boundaries a fair bit to far.
the sad thing is, that there will still be too many people that will buy vc and even defend 2k, which is hilarious.Comment

1. Pay for haircuts (They give you 5 as a default...) and facial grooms
2. It costs at about 30k more to get your player to the initial max, and the initial max is lower than last year's. Whether or not you support grinding/VC, it'll take more of both to get up there.
3. Can't see where our attributes go to when we level it up (This has got to be fixed)
4. Mobile app doesn't seem to have the matching card game anymore (Flip over three cards per day). You just get 100 VC for logging in now. So we've gone from being able to pull 500 VC cards, to 250, to 100 max. I hope that "Coming soon" part with Joel Embiid is it.
5. No more sculpting. CAP appears to have gotten more limited.
Should make a capsule post where we predict future scummy things they do. I can't believe I predicted "Less VC earned on the mobile app, card values lower..." and damn they one-upped me by giving us NO card game at all (Or so it appears for now)
In 2k20 players might cost 250k VC to get to an 80. I wish that was hyperbole but the trend from 2k14-2k18 is showing that it's not out of the realm.Last edited by ph33; 09-08-2017, 02:37 PM.Comment

Well, are people going to boycott 2K, otherwise pointing this out and calling them "scummy" doesn't make any sense if you are still going to buy their product, especially when you have another option on the marketComment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
You knew coming into this thread what it would be about. Yet, you and others are consistently trying to shout down anybody who isn't happy with the direction of things.
What isn't going away is people being upset if year after year things are more costly in both time and/or money. What I listed above are facts, not opinion.
So here's some of your own advice for you:
You don't have to post in here, or read anything in here. There's another option: it's called ignoring it and going to threads that interest you.
It's not like people here are the kids on twitter who are just bad at the game and are asking 2k to patch things to cover for their lack of skills.
Nobody here is wishing for anything that will detract from your experience.
Would you continue to use the same reasoning if it cost 300k to get them to an 80? Or will it still be "Well, there's another game to get if you don't like this one. It is what it is and it's not going away"
Being silent doesn't make sense to me either.Last edited by ph33; 09-08-2017, 04:41 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
You're right about that. It's why I'm not buying the game digitally or new, though I've been a day 1 guy since 2k7. I'm hoping other people can do the same, but I'm not going to judge them if they don't.
Awareness is important.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
yup! i was (and folks like me) are a HUGE part of the problem. i had no issue spending $700-$1000 per year in VC between all my myplayers and myteam. i was also one of the guys that defended 2k as if they could do no wrong. i NEVER complained about it. until one day i just said "nah not on 18, im done".
JUST FOR THE FOLKS THAT ARE FRUSTRATED (sorry to yell)..
cant buy the game new or buy vc if youre really that upset about the direction 2k is going. its HARD lol, trust me - i know lol. but if youre really fed up, do something about it? 🤔😎

You don't need to visit any threads that have nothing to do with you or your concerns.

And yes there is,another option that doesn't have VC to buy. It's not being ignorant by suggesting that as an option.

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
This is why im buying it used and no vc. the game feels good (prelude) but im burnt out on 2k tactics. THE ONLY way you (or me or anyone) can voice displeasure is to not buy the game. But your displeasure has to be strong enough to do so otherwise your just venting (which is cool too i guess, just know simply venting wont change a thing)
