Barkley’s original reason for not appearing in 2K was that he wanted the deal MJ got in 2K11. I have my doubts about the sincerity of his retired players ask…. I think a MJ type offer gets him in 2K25 instantly….but that’s neither here nor there. I hope 2K never even considers bending on the matter..

Sheed recently spoke on this subject, confirming players get cut a $10,000 check per year for their likeness. Everyone obviously has the right to decide the value of their likeness, but 10k to say “yes” ain’t a bad deal, lol

ANDDDDD if Sheed gets paid more (lets say 15k) that means OTHER retired players want to rearrange their deals and it will make it so that most arent going to get that deal.( Please dont talk about the billion $ that they have lol)

So I agree, we will see what happens in the future lol

Meanwhile, I award John Crotty the 2024 Vinny Del Negro Memorial Unllikeness Award for worst representation of a pale mid-90s backcourt role player.

I nominate Kevin Lynch from the '92-93 Hornets as a bad scan myself, his face looks too small for his head

And Luc Longley looks like he would be an animated character on a Build-a-Bear cartoon.

Matt Geiger looks like a giant baby with drawn on eyebrows and goatee.

Tony Bennett has the biggest forehead I’ve ever seen.

Matt Bullard has painted on hair and eyes that are at two completely different heights.

There’s a bunch of historic guys that have had the same scans since the PS3/Xbox360 days. There’s a lot in the 60’s teams that might give you nightmares.

Oh yes, both Kevin Lynch and 1993 Charlotte Hornets teammate Tony Bennett are eligible for the Lifetime Achievement award for their decade-long contribution to frightening face scans.

The face models are good if you play NBA 2K24 Minecraft edition. All you need is a gameboy and a pair of those service station reading glasses while facing into the sun.

                The realism is another level.

How much pop does Barkley have among the younger 2k demographic now anyway?

                  They won’t pay him.

Probably more than most because of ITNBA tbh

but I don’t think the legend side of the game is meant for that demographic anyway

It’s funny to see the MyNBA kind of reemerging as a popular game mode for younger players

A lot of people would be surprised at how much the younger generation doesn't watch television shows, and ITNBA is just that. Many get their basketball viewing from highlights and social media shorts--even basketball players themselves. When I (or we) were coming up, we learned a lot of basketball from watching it on television; that's not as true nowadays as streaming shows have replaced television shows as their go-to for viewing entertainment.

Many young people who know of Barkley might see him in a similar light as Terry Bradshaw--a funny personality, not knowing how truly good he was. Their knowledge of the 2 doesn't really come from watching pregame and halftime shows, but from memes and shorts. It would have to take some social media trend to get them watching ITNBA; sadly enough, that is the very reason many of them are even watching Suits--a series not even that old but young people were "told" to watch it for the first time by the internet.

I spoke to a nephew last year who knew Dirk has a 97 fade away rating but did a fantasy draft on his my league so didn’t know who he actually played for. I died just a little bit.

I'm glad they finally updated Vlade's face, he looked like PS1 Hagrid for far too long
not sure what to think on this year's Peja update, what do ya'll think?

I gave up on NBA 2K24 back in November but decided to give it another shot about a month ago. Combined with the patch that addressed the create-a-courts, I've finally found some sliders that mitigate the psychic defensive response.

As a result, I'm having a really fun time playing through the 1992-93 season, one of my favorite NBA seasons of all-time. Being a huge fan of the dunk, rim-hanging dunks that actually work give the experience a big boost over 2K23, just because you can't really move into the Shawn Kemp & Shaq era without rim-hang dunks. I'm also looking forward to a championship celebration that actually works.

1993's also an interesting time for Pistons fans, as the Bad Boys Pistons were on their way out. However, they were technically still competitive so long as Dennis Rodman showed up. They were 4-16 without Rodman that year but on pace to be a near 50-win team with him in tow. So in my hypothetical season, I can pretend Chuck Daly stuck around and the Pistons slipped into the conference finals one more time, where Bill Laimbeer finally made amends.

It's been a fun ride. Still waiting to see what shakes out from a WCF between the Sonics & Warriors (a healthy Warriors, contrary to reality that year) and an ECF of Pistons-Bulls but so far, so good.

Aight, this is the most confusing championship celebration I've ever seen.
