I agree 100%... But don't you think they could've cleaned this up, without having to overhaul the entire system?

          Re: New CAP system

The advantage to this new CAP is that the system can generate random values/numbers for facial features within the presets and the generated prospects wont look totally weird, like in year's past.
          I think that's what they're going for.
          It's a safety.

Us MyLeague guys were very vocal in the 2k18 wishlist thread that the generated prospects looked bad and cartoonish and it needed to be improved (and i bet the MyPlayer guys wanted an improved CAP system too). It appears that they've run with that and sacrificed variation in identity along the way.
But we wanted the QUALITY of the graphics to improve, not the AMOUNT of options.
It's as if we need to tell them the things we DO like in order to protect it from getting removed. It's so frustrating that we only find out about these decisions until it's too late.
They didn't need to revamp the system, just improve what was in place, and add more options.
They've removed the options, but the quality of the the hairstyles and facial hair is at the exact same level. The only thing that has improved is the quality of face. (although the white guys still look weird to me. They have an odd stare in their eye, and their mouth looks like they're sucking a lemon. It's still unrealistic)

The biggest problem now is that there are only 30 or so "face textures/presents" that are FIXED. So even though some face-textures look a little more realistic, there is gonna be a TON of duplicate players, which is worse.
There is not enough options to make the players look unique. Not enough face sculpting options, can't alter skin tones (even if you could let us alter the hue a little bit would be fine, not the entire colour), all the facial hair is fixed to 1 preset. Throw in the fact that you can't add tattoos, and i'm pretty sure you wont be able to choose bodytypes (the only thing we need presets for), it totally kills the creativity side of the game (rosters, draft classes, etc). To me that is the most deflating thing.

The gameplay looks amazing, and i would love to create players and teams to express itself within the game. But the CAP is so limited that i'm stuck for options.

I honestly regret pre-ordering. Wish i could cancel but i already paid 50 bucks. Creating players is my favourite element of the game.

            Re: New CAP system

In terms of direct feedback to 2K, here's my 2 cents: If we had like 100+ presets/face-textures instead of 30 i could live with that.

Either that or more variation with the sculpting options. You can't get specific enough with the current options.

The fact that we don't have tats, bodyshapes, skin colour options, just adds to the pain.

            SUGGESTIONS FOR 2K:
--For bodyshapes, give us: skinny, lean, average, ripped/cut, buff, muscular, big boned, fat, and then let us sculpt those preset bodies from there with continued options in the wingspan, shoulder length, body length, etc. Maybe even neck size/length and muscle size. Give us different muscle/skin textures.
--Let us sculpt the faces in the same way as last year but just give us a whole bunch of better facial textures. <-- this is what should've been done for 2k18. More options AND quality. Keep the textures from this year, add to it.
--Continue to add more hairstyles but don't remove any. Make them a little bit less shiny/plastic looking. It looks like lego head hair. Give it more realism. Make it more puffy/airy/hairy/dry. It looks wet.
--Continue to add more facial hair but don't remove any. Make them a little less shiny/saturated/plastic looking. Give it more "puff/air".
--Give us seperate facial hair options like in the past (i.e. moutstache, stubble, sideburns, beard, etc). Losing stubble options is a big loss.
--Give us tats. Allow us to alter size and fadedness. Give us plenty of tats, avoid lame "clip art" style ones.

It's 2017 and we have been in next-gen of videogaming for years, i can't believe i even have to say this

They look way better than anything that you could possibly come up with in 2k18.

Maybe. I know someone already created the best Reggie Miller I've seen on this gen (posted in this thread maybe?)

The Reggie Miller that was about 3 shades darker than his actual skin tone? Yeah ok lol. You're reaching. Even Tgor would admit that Reggie was trash compared to his 2k17 version.

As far as looks are concerned, seems like VC missed the mark this time which given what year it is, is quite a sad thing.

How about customizing how the CAP animates? Are all the dribbling sizeups available? Or will our CAPs all have the exact same rhythm dribbles again?

I hear the jumpshot creator is available. True?
Ignorance of evidence is evidence of ignorance...

Ugh, i guess i'm gonna put the Harden beard and long dreads on my CAP this year. I mean at least my hair will be right. The rest will not. Sigh.

I understand changing the system, but damn if the system can't support sculpting, at least have a WIDE variance of feature choices and hair choices. Man. Such a let down. The custom classes and rosters this year is going to be horrid.

LOL he doesn't get it. The point is , while the CAP system is not perfect, you can create pretty much any face you want.

Exactly lol...No matter how unnatural most of the facial features look from 2k17, the fact of the matter is that the face sculpting simply allowed for way more flexibility & CAPs came out looking more like the players you intended to create, and not the preset that it was based around. Simple as that.

I wouldn't call that a "broken system" at all...Just a system that needed polishing.
