    Exactly.

How boring would it be to level up your player to a high 80/90 release date and not grind at least a little? You would get bored of the game real quick.

I understand a lot of people don't have time to grind like some, but that's part of the fun for us who don't give in and spend ridiculous money on VC. I'm sure it's the same way with RPGs and MMOs that are popular these days. People grind for their characters and get them at that level.

I also like to get good at the game as well when I grind.

And 2k is very invasive with their VC requirements to get basic enjoyment from the game, to the point where they sacrifice realism in certain aspects.

There is zero requirement to buy VC. I have never bought VC and I have enjoyed thousands of hours of 2K, including MyCareer. Guess that just means I'm more patient.

And my point is, y'all are witch hunting 2K as if they're some evil money sucking corporation facing off against a collection of generous and giving companies.

The best part of 2k are those first few days when the game is new and fresh and learning the game over, to complain that 2k is asking too much for you to take a shortcut to rating you dont deserve is just ridiculous.

Zero requirement? VC is required to improve your player, and as of 2k17 at least, to gain access to accessories, animations, etc.

If you know of a way around that, I would love to hear it. I'd love to have an NBA caliber player from the start, and be able to choose my shooting animation without needing to play multiple games with a different one first.

Re: 200,000 VC to upgrade player to 85

I'm all seriousness, this unproven notion that there is a shortage of VC, or scarcity of ways to get this virtual currency, when there's actually a plethora of not just VC but also the ways in which to get is false.

Especially with 2k now moving to The Neighborhood, now you don't even have to step on the beautiful hardwood court to gain VC.

Either youll gain VC from 4pt challenge, to Pro-Am, to King of the Court, to clicking the "click to accept this endorsement and earn VC" t even the damn Dave & Busters shootout carnival game (even that will give you earnings now, like seriously lol) im which to purchase your attributes to increase your OVR, or you can train in the Gatorade facility to increase your attributes to raise your OVR, or you'll be hitting those badge achievements to increase your player OVR since that will be available to you from jump street.

Let alone an a free app to get VC, literally nearly every moment you spend on the game you will be increasing your player or gaining VC to do so in the other 15 game modes available to you.

So honestly, 2k has given us more reason NOT to by VC this year than it has given us a reason TO buy VC given the bevy of ways to get it on our own.

Optional in the sense that you don't have to buy it. You earn it naturally playing every aspect of the game. But sure, I worded it wrong so instead of understanding what I meant, you can go ahead and focus on that. My mistake. But. How about we focus on what I quite clearly intended based on the very next sentence instead of making some smarta** comment?

And if you'd love that so much, feel free to buy VC. As for me, I'll be happily playing MyCareer and MyGM, upgrading when I have VC stockpiles rather than complaining about optional micro transactions online because I can't be a 99 overall superstar on day one and show off my epeen in the park.

You got one year to get to 99 and that rating will mean nothing in the meantime because then you have to restart your player for 2k19 lol. 2k is doing nothing wrong they are just pricing the VC based on price and demand. Patience is all that needed to keep you from paying

Well, some of you guys seem to be totally fine playing other modes to earn VC. And that's great! I am glad you enjoy doing that.

But why are the same people so intent on shouting down people who bought the game specifically to play 5 on 5 Pro-AM, and are not happy that the entry fee to have a player that doesn't suck is either a lot of time or a lot of money?

I've already seen the "You can play a lot of ways to level up" Yes, that'll be great once I get my guy at a respectable level. But having to play a bunch of games against the CPU on HOF with a crappy player just to get VC? Meh. I just don't think we should think it's outrageous that people would be peeved by this.

I am disappointed when the response is "Then don't buy the game." So instead of allowing others to wish for a better solution you just want them to not buy it?

I totally understand the concern for not wanting the bitching to permeate the threads that you care about. I'm sure the mods will take care of that.

Yes, we know we aren't forced to buy it. But we end up being forced to do a bunch of other things we have no interest in, to play what we want to play, and there's just a better way in the future people are hoping for.

I don't want to play vs computer for 2 months just so my player can be respectable. I have a job and a life so i dont have the time to waste on grinding.
You can still play with friends i didn't know there was a restriction

Honestly, play with your friends and have fun. Get your 200-300 vc per game and rank up .THis game last 1 year so relax and play for 365days till 2k19

But the bottom line is , enjoy your grind or break out your wallet for the costly versions of the game with extra VC. If you buying an NBA game to only play with created players , you are stuck sorry.

Honestly now that you aren't forced to even play MyCareer to level up your MyPlayer, probably means even more people skipping out on that mode and getting their grind on with their 60 ovr's.

Might prove to be a nice middle ground.

Honestly what 2k needs is different matchmaking servers. "55ovr-60", 60-70, 70-80, etc.

                      It would solve soooooo much.

That is great you want to get on and immediately be an impact player so you can play Pro-am but that isn't what the mode is designed for. The whole concept of MyCareer is to start as a low rated player and make him into a superstar, not come in as one. 2K decided to help out some of the less patient people and let you buy VC to help but that doesn't change what the mode is.

It sucks that you don't like the "find another mode" response because at the end of the day it's the truth, cause the mode isn't going away from that basic concept.

You can't call this greed when you're not forced to BUY VC with real money. Either grind it out yourself or don't. I have friends that never buy VC and just grind and they always get to the high 90s just by playing the game.

Granted I don't agree with VC and buying and pay to win strats but this is not a case of greed. Yes 2k knows ppl will buy VC but at the same time you can just play and level up without it too. It's optional.

Again I say I don't condone microtransactions at all. Ppl who just buy VC to upgrade are fine but they also waste a lot of money because the player they buy to upgrade is usually not the player they end the year with.

I got over 200k VC by just playing "play now online" for a year haha. It probably took me less than that - I just played on and off.

You can actually earn a good amount of VC because if you go up every level you get bonus VC like 6000 VC, and for beating teams that are higher tiers than you.

Meh, I will just get my son to keep loading up MyGM/MyLeague games and let them auto play. A week or two of that and I should have a nice bag of VC to do what I want with.

It may tie up my PC some but it won't consume any time. I may have to throw him a few extra dollars or some candy or something but nothing to get wound up about.

I never said I want to come in as a superstar. Just not a 55 rated player where I'm forced to play something else for quite a long time that I don't want to, in order to level up. I would actually love to play with a team full of 70s to start with. People might play to their archetypes more and stop trying to do everything.

I can't think of any other games where there's some grind you have to do before you can play their most popular online mode and not be worthless.

And...maybe the mode isn't going away from that basic concept, but change doesn't happen if people are silent. I don't think anybody is asking for an overhaul, just a better middle ground. And as long as they keep hiking up prices, it's a legit question to ask why.
