NBA 2k too SIM,less FUN

Hey guys, just wanted to say that i am an avid fan of 2k, basketball in general. So basketball season is about to start in gaming. As any of u guys here i am excited. I was a little dissapointed in last years 2k (2k17). The reason for this is that for me the FUN of it was not there. I will elaborate later. And as i watch vids ok 2k18, im worried that it will be the same. When i say the fun is gone, i mean is it is too predictable, too robotic It does not feel organic. Like every play felt scripted. Even substitutions was predictable. It just didnt feel natural. Again on the vids i have seen for 2k18. It looks like the same problem.

LIVE drops the demo first. My expectations were very low. The last LIVE i played was '05(melo cover). First game felt weird, with controls etc. But i found myself playing it over and over. Then it hit me. "This is pretty FUN! not bad at all!" and i kept telling myself that, Nah this sucks, its LIVE. But man, i was surprised! Let me add that i am only talking about gameplay here. Graphics wise its good but 2k still has the best graphics especially the body types. And commentary and all of that etc. 2k has that all covered.

Again i comeback to gameplay. Live was just fun and organic. Even there subs seemed more realistic. I forgot to mention, i also enjoyed there presentation except for commentary.
And yes i downloaded The Prelude. i am optimistic, it felt more FUN. But i need to play a full game. It felt more loose, and felt good. I will be purchasing both games. But for now LIVE takes it for me. Cant believe i am saying that. But again it surprised me and i keep saying it.. it is FUN. Brings back the memories when LIVE was making good hoop games. I am happy for EA. This is good for us consumers. We all win at the end. Pls feel free to give your thoughts.

Then lower the game difficulty man or edit the sliders to how you please.

As for online game modes, I think it's not enough sim if anything. Players shooting 80% from the field and 70% from three is definitely not sim

I've been playing 2KU for hours it's so fun. And I prefer an arcadey feel.

What is it with thread starters always saying "I'm a big fan of 2k" then the next few paragraphs LIVE DEMO. There was a similar thread earlier that got locked doing the same thing. "I'M A HUGE FAN OF 2k BEEN BUYING IT SINCE BIRTH BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT LIVE"

I'm convinced that you guys are some sort of bots just to spam the forums....

i did. the feel of the game seems predictable. and the sticky D is just annoying. even with decent stick skills. sorry i forgot to mention about online. i dont play online. only versus AI. that was the thread was about.

actually its the opposite. all i expect when i play a video game is to enjoy it. as i mentioned, LIVE felt much better. Ive been rolling with 2k since 2k6. but 2k17 is when i felt that this is not as fun no more. and LIVE surprised me.

Most of these problems have been supposedly fixed. I had to go straight to work after class today so I didn't get a chance to download my prelude until just an hour or two ago but it's at 98% right now so i'm pretty excited. I'm hoping all of these problems were fixed as well

Good thing there's a game for everyone. They should not touch gameplay at all on 2K18...it's damn near perfect like this and extremely fun to a person such as myself who enjoys real basketball.

i played the prelude. like i said, it felt good. cant wait for next week. will be spending a lot tho for 2 NBA games. yikes

Tip: You don't have to tell us. We don't care.

Opinion: 2K has never felt better than the limited gameplay I've gotten from The Prelude.

Fact: Live is a vastly inferior game. [emoji23]

Personally, simulation is fun. Anything that strives to replicate simulation is fun because I've grown tired of arcade titles. Anything that offers strategic offensive and defensive counters are fun.

I enjoyed the other title as well. There are certain elements to that game that I like. Been playing the highest difficulty ever since that demo dropped. But what's not fun is seeing made baskets one after another. Rinse and repeat. Interior scoring is simple and fairly predictable. If I am able to get a shot off in the paint, 80-90% of the time I will score in the other game. If I am able to recognize my release point or hit my meter at the correct spot, my three point successful is close to 70-80% with the other game. When all the big man can do Dr. J style one handed reverse layups and 98% of the time they are made buckets even when contested ...

That is not fun.

I've been giving my impression on the other game and that they need to decrease the shooting success.

If you want to talk about sticky defense. I can play sticky defense with the other game all day by holding the L1 (PS4) button.

I don't like to play isolation ball. I'm a pass first player. I only play offline against the CPU. With 2k18, if I actually wanted to I can blow by my defender playing isolation ball this year because I feel like the stickyness is minimal. Again, I am a terrible isolation player. But I can play isolation ball in 2k18 if I wanted to. What's also "fun" about 2k is that I can actually pass the ball and have player movement that allows me to create a nice offensive flow. The other game is more challenging when it comes to getting player movement and ball movement. There are things that I can't do in the other game that I can do in 2k18.

Both games are fun. 2k18 is fun. Live is fun. But the more simulation a game brings to the table, the fun factor increases many folds.
