I enjoyed the other title as well. There are certain elements to that game that I like. Been playing the highest difficulty ever since that demo dropped. But what's not fun is seeing made baskets one after another. Rinse and repeat. Interior scoring is simple and fairly predictable. If I am able to get a shot off in the paint, 80-90% of the time I will score in the other game. If I am able to recognize my release point or hit my meter at the correct spot, my three point successful is close to 70-80% with the other game. When all the big man can do Dr. J style one handed reverse layups and 98% of the time they are made buckets even when contested ...

      That is not fun.

I've been giving my impression on the other game and that they need to decrease the shooting success.

If you want to talk about sticky defense. I can play sticky defense with the other game all day by holding the L1 (PS4) button.

I don't like to play isolation ball. I'm a pass first player. I only play offline against the CPU. With 2k18, if I actually wanted to I can blow by my defender playing isolation ball this year because I feel like the stickyness is minimal. Again, I am a terrible isolation player. But I can play isolation ball in 2k18 if I wanted to. What's also "fun" about 2k is that I can actually pass the ball and have player movement that allows me to create a nice offensive flow. The other game is more challenging when it comes to getting player movement and ball movement. There are things that I can't do in the other game that I can do in 2k18.

Both games are fun. 2k18 is fun. Live is fun. But the more simulation a game brings to the table, the fun factor increases many folds.
thanks for the reply. you are right about the sticky d on 2k18, it felt minimal. thats why im excited about it. great feedback btw. and im assuming you basing this on the prelude right? unless youre one of the lucky ones who had hands on with the retail copy? all im saying is LIVE surprised me this year, does not mean it is better than 2k. it is not. it definitely improved and most important for me atleast is that i actually enjoyed a LIVE title. in a long time. thanks again

This is simply based on the 2k18 prelude. But to be frank, I understand what you're talking about when you're using the words predictable and organic. NBA 2k17 had certain sequences where I can read the animation from a mile away. There are certain legacy issues with 2k in general that makes it what it is. There are things in 2k that I wish weren't there. There are certain elements from Live that I wish were adopted by 2k and vice versa.

Did Live also surprise me, absolutely yes. Some of their gameplay element are surprising good but then there are other things that takes away from it. There is a certain feeling to Live that is both natural and organic. I know there are a lot of dedicated 2k players that won't give the other game a test run or simply play it for a few days and call it quits. But I've played the other ever since it dropped and I see potential. Note: I have never been a live fan, I have always been a 2k fan. The only NBA Live game I bought was 2004.

I was going to run with both NBA 2k18 and Live 18 this year, but hearing that there is no roster update to Live 18 and problems with the CPU not doing trades during franchise mode is concerning. They may patch these things in, but I'm not counting on it. My biggest issue with the other game is that the player movement and ball movement is difficult (but not impossible) to replicate how I want in my mind. Secondly, the high shooting success rate is problematic.

Here's a 2k17 animation sequence that I could see from a mile away. This is a predictable sequence. I actually talk about predictable animations in my signature that I would like for 2k to do away with just so it makes the challenge harder. You might be talking about stuff like the following gif. Maybe because 2k18 prelude is still new to all of us and new plays have been implemented by both Da_Czar and Scott OG, we're currently still all in the honeymoon phase. The core of 2k is still animation centric. This year, it just feels better. I can still feel some "animation pull" with 2k18 prelude that I wish wasn't there. But overall, I'm going to be retiring 2k17 and living with 2k18 this year. Maybe even Live 18. Still undecided.

The title of this thread ****s me.

If SIM isn't what you want, go buy NBA Jam.

          Sorted.

There's an entire NBA LIVE forum to give your NBA LIVE demo inpressions in.
