Could you explain to me, why those cap holds are so high? In my MyLeague I had Mike Muscala and Dewayne Dedmon with expiring contracts while Muscalas contract was worth around 5 and Dedmons around 6 million. But their cap holds were around 7 respectively 8 million although their demands for a future contract both were only 1,5 million. I was set to acquire a star center in free agency but with the cap holds of those two and remaining other players I was somehow 25 million over the salary cap although I had around 10 million free cap space before free agency.

It depends on their previous Salaries and the type of their Bird Rights (Bird, Early Bird and so on) and if the Player is coming of a Rookie Contract or not. But the Cap Hold is always higher than the previous Salary.

A player can resign for less, but you need to renounce him first and giving up your Bird Rights.
In your case, you can then sign them for 1,5 Million or let them go - either way, you will have more Cap Space to sign the Star Center.

Decided to wait on the opening night roster before diving into my MyLeague. Hoping there's not some random issue that causes the rosters to be held up this year. I guess there can't be since we've got updates already.

So what about players like me who only plays MYGM and sometimes MYCAREER Pro-AM?

In MyGM you can't use a customized roster, you don't have all the other great options from MYLEAGUE, no 30 team control....

2k sacrificed this for the Story in MYGM, and the story is only one season long...I don't understand it ...do you guys think that the developers patch MYGM to a more customizable and user-friendly mode?

I would not expect nor even hope for that. The only way to achieve total control and realism is my league 30 team control.

Your problem in this sceanrio is the Cap Hold.

The Cap hold is a placeholder for Players a team is expected to sign, so Free Agents with Bird Rights and 1st-Round-Picks.

So for example: you have 37 Million Cap Space and a Free Agent with 15 Million Cap Hold, that means in reality you have only 22 Million Million Cap Space.

You can renounce the Cap Hold, but then you lose the Bird Rights for your Player.

Yeah I ended up figure that out. I had never heard of the cap hold before this. I love basketball and know a lot about it but I don't know the money side of things like at all. I was wondering what was going on with this before I figured out why I was having issues. I thought I had 39 million in space to sign someone for 30 million meaning I had 9 million to spare to then find out that I had like 20 million in cap holds or something meaning I really only had 19 million to sign guys not 39 million. It is miss leading because when it shows like your cap space it doesn't include what it is counting your cap holds and also when I was adding up my team salary and how much cap space I had it wasn't adding up to the 99 million that is the cap so I was really confused why it was not adding up to 99 million.

Me and my best friend have been playing association/my league since 2k10. It has always been full of issues and bugs, but I have to say 2k17 has been the best experience. Really scared to buy 2k18 right now.

I have toyed around long enough. I'm enjoying where the gameply is right now so I've started my legit ML. I'm playing as the Wizards mainly, but it's really full league control where I play the more interesting games.

About 2 weeks in I made some interesting trades.

First, I force traded Otto Porter and a 1st (and that contract) to the winless Pelicans for Boogie and Rondo. Let the AD to Chicago rumors start to swirl... Cousins puts the Wiz in the thick of the East with Cleveland, Boston and Toronto.

I also traded Gortat to Philly in a 3 way with the Spurs sending Okafor to the Spurs for scraps. I want to see if Pop can rejuvenate his career and turn him into a low post beast while at least competent defensively. Gortat is also solid veteran insurance for Embiiid. The 76ers are done rebuilding, they're going for contention now.

Finally, I traded Eric Bledsoe to the Spurs for Patty Mills. I just like the move. The Suns have a sniping backcourt who can light it up with Mills and Booker. Defense it terrible but damn are they fun to run with. Plus Josh Jackson is gonna be a monster. This is a team I'm lowkey watching. Bledsoe just screams Spurs to me for some reason. It also brings the Spurs a step closer to the Warriors. I love parity in my league. That's it so far but as things shake out I'm sure there will be more movement. I try to keep things realistic and within reason while also fun. I've achieved that so far.

When some of you talk about 30 teams control, you have to sim every single games for all them or you put specific options on auto ?

Somebody has to make a complete guide for 30 teams control, that would be awesome

Me and my best friend have been playing association/my league since 2k10. It has always been full of issues and bugs, but I have to say 2k17 has been the best experience. Really scared to buy 2k18 right now.

It's really really good and better than last year but these contracts are insane without the hard cap turned off and the problem with doing that is the CPU for contending team would have NBA Dream teams with a squad full of superstars.

Quick start up quide..

Go to MyLEAGUE.

Next , go to Set - Up options, put in your settings you want, cap space, hard cap, injury slides,etc.

Next page should be the team you want, go ahead and select all of them. I think it's the "Y" button.

The next page will let you customize what you want to control per team and per league. For example, you can control if the CPU should handle the draft or should you draft for every team or just several teams. It's totally your choice.

For me personally, I choose to manually control the free agent signings and contract extensions for each team, that's it. I let the CPU suggest trades but I have trade approval on.

Since I assume you want to control everything for just one team. One the same screen of controlling the settings of what you want per team, scroll over to your team. Go ahead and select Manual for all the options such as draft, free agency, G-League assignments, etc.

Your settings should be listed as "Custom" for each team now besides your own, which should be listed as "Manual"

I officially started my ML yesterday. Playing as the Pelicans but as always I did a fantasy draft so my team is completely different. Starting lineup is Lillard, Lou Williams, Gallinari, Faried, and Deondre Jordan. Spent about 2 hours editing the draft class. Didn't play any games yet. Looking forward to getting started though

Am now 15 games into my Boston Celtics Franchise, we are currently 10-5 on a three game win streak, most recently beating the Brooklyn Nets 125-116. Kyrie Irving leads the NBA in scoring at 29.2 PPG, along with 4.4 boards and 7 assists per game, as well as 1.3 steals. Gordon Hayward is second on the team in scoring, at 18.2 PPG, 5.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists. The Celtics are currently second in the East half a game behind the Charlotte Hornets. The standings in the East are:

Charlotte Hornets, Boston Celtics (0.5 GB), Cleveland Cavaliers (1 GB), Toronto Raptors (2 GB), Philadelphia 76ers (2.5 GB), Washington Wizards (2.5 GB), Milwaukee Bucks (3.5 GB), New York Knicks (4.5 GB)

Bottom of the east teams are pretty realistic as 11-15 are the Bulls, Pacers, Magic, Nets and Hawks.

In the West, the standings are as follows: Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves (3.5 GB), Los Angeles Clippers (3.5 GB), Utah Jazz (4.0 GB), New Orleans Pelicans (4.0 GB), Oklahoma City Thunder (4.5 GB), Houston Rockets (5.0 GB), San Antonio Spurs (5.5 GB)

The Mavericks cannot catch a break for a second year in a row, currently sitting in last place with a 2-12 record. The rest of the bottom five is the Blazers, Kings, Grizzlies, Suns.

No major injuries beyond the ones that happened before the season started. Think i'm going to start trading players around soon from contenders and sellers at the end of the month. Been having fun moving around rotations due to injury or fatigue or cold streaks!

Nice going! Are you doing myleague or mygm? Im also using the celtics but right now we are only 10-8 5th seed with injuries happened with jaylen, kyrie, hayward and horford! At first it was jaylen went out for 2 weeks, then when he came back kyrie got injured for 2 weeks. Now both hayward and horford are out day to day.. seems 2k dont want me to play in full strength!

Any tips how run your offense?

MyLeague. Don’t really care for the cutscenes and story and all that. Smart was out for me for a couple weeks, and Tatum and Horford have had a couple day-to-days but nothing that bad!

What I like to do is try to get Kyrie going EARLY. Iso’s, cutting to the lane, coming around off pindown screens trying to get open 3’s. I try to play heavily through Irving and Hayward shooting 3’s early, but also love driving inside, getting contact and the FT’s. From the second unit Rozier is really producing and being a solid backup plays like Kyrie-lite haha. Jaylen Brown is hot and cold for me but I try to get him the easy dunks and transition layups when he’s in with the solid defense. Don’t really play through Horford downlow he doesn’t feel strong enough, but still chips in around 12 per game and has been rebound lots better.
