For real? While holding A? I can't get this to work. It only seems to matter whether I held the button down or did a quick tap.

Not sure why 2K got lazy with the CAP system this year. When I edit my CAPS in My League you can see the same features from last year like featurea, sculpting, and skin color. But they mostly don't work

Its like they put it there but forgot to turn them on

Against certain teams, I put "Switch all Guards" in the defensive settings, but when the game gets started I forget that I've done that, so it's awesome that I can "hear" KCP, Lonzo, Hart, or Clarkson yell "Switch!" to remind me of our strategy.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

            Re: NBA 2k18 Impressions Thread

Some impressions after a few days..

            The Good:

            - General Gameplay - The game is playing great basketball for me pretty much out of the box (offline only). Plays execute faster, spacing is better and all around it is just improved in feel.

            - AI teammates on D are finally not braindead like last year and i don't think ive had a moment where i got beat because they lost their man under the hoop. Great stuff.

            - Fast Breaks - Finally you aren't catching someone for a lebron style block out of nowhere on too many plays. Usually if a quicker guy has the step on the break he is gone. So good to see.

            - Controls in general feel a lot more responsive than last year, reminds me of maybe 2k11 or somewhere around then a lot more. Guys have weight but also have speed etc.

            - UI/Menus - props to the team who worked on the UI this year feel like its a big step up after last year. The whole frontend is visually nice and simple to follow as well as the subs/play menus this year.

Sounds/Atmosphere - Im hearing a lot more atmospheric sounds and yells when guys drive and get bumped etc as well as I think a lot more general arena sounds. Overall its much improved.

            The Bad:

Visuals - In a lot of arenas it seems like the lighting isn't bright enough (xbox one) compared to 2k17. This leads to players looking kind of "flat", I dont know how else to describe it but their skin textures etc don't seem to have the lighting/reflections they had in the past. Also wonder if they could maybe add an "arena brightness" setting or something might help?

Framerate - Some arenas are causing the framerate to tank ala 2k9 I think it was when using broadcast cam. Pretty sure this can be cleaned up in a patch however.

End of Game - Seems like there is no more end of game show. After seeing what Live does at halftime etc i would like there to at least be something. Weird that it is removed unless my game is glitching.

Overall so far I'm liking it, with only those two basically visual things niggling at me. The game is playing great and they have addressed most of my issues from last year which is awesome to see.

Do players still miss an excessive amount of easy buckets right near the basket even if not heavily contested? Do players (especially big players) go up with weak sauce layup attempts even when right underneath the basket?

Thon Maker is literally the best player in this game. The pick and pop with him is literally a 3 every time down the court lmao

EDIT: I just scored 56 points on 18/20 from 3 with him lol

I'm not enjoying jumpshooting in the least, lol. I'm getting good releases, lightly contested, clanking off the rim. Good release, open, clank. If it's not a green release, there's a 90% chance it's not going in.

And the step back doesn't seem to create any space. Maybe I'm used to Lives stepback, but it doesn't seem effective currently. Any tips?

I was never a "move" kind of player either. I relied more on my reaction time against the AI, trying to catch him off guard with a quick first step rather than crossovers and all.

The past few years it seems you can't really get by anyone without doing moves. Can you still be effective without doing all the fancy moves in 2K18?

Yep. Redbox has gotten really good at getting major game releases on release day now. I live in Metro Atlanta though. Not sure about more rural areas.

Stop playing live, I kid I kid, but the game play is so different it's hard to jump from game to game and not get fustrated.

I've played very sparingly. Most of my time has been w 2k since release. Just seems shooting is off on superstar.

I don't follow the NBA much, I can't name at least half the players on a given team, but having said that this is one of the best sports games i have ever played and i've been around a long time lol. I'm getting absolutely killed by the cpu and having a blast. Great job 2k.
