If i'm not going for the move at all. I should not have to press anything. go ahead and step back. and I'll watch you do it as i step forward. i should not need to press anything but up on my stick to stay with you. or if i dont move you get a half a step on your pull back dribble. vs 5 steps because the star wars force blows me backwards even without me actually going for the initial drive move.

We're not advocating that the step back be worthless, we're saying in its current form it's OP and could stand to be turned down. I don't get how people can just fight against any change at all like this game plays perfect and has no room for improvement, because that's false.

I never said it doesn't need to change. We're going in circles here lmao. That's why 24th Letter stop saying anything here. We give a tip in its current game. Yes we all think it counterintuitive that you have to release the defensive button to play good defense. It makes no damn sense lol.

Like I said in the above post... It doesn't make any sense one bit. It needs to change.... And it probably will... We have like 3 threads on the same subject lol.

I already expressed my thoughts on this ....but I found interesting watching a friend of mines (I think his Pro-Am team is top 15) steam last night and his squad has virtually no trouble defending this move...

I also don't have trouble defending it when I see it coming, but as many have said, what we have to do to "stop" it is unnatural.

It's the kind of move that only gets me if you bust it out very few times (Usually in transition when you're a threat to drive in the open court). If you're doing it in the first quarter against me ... you've already tipped your hand as to what your M.O. is. But I still don't like the pushback it has.

You can take 2 steps after you dribble. But it hasn't been called on him yet

                    This is still a debate?

The move has been all but removed for online modes.

I have a pure playmaker and can do it in career games, but online the move just doesn't execute when I try to do it.

Been like that for at least a month. Before the 2K League Combine started.

Dude, there's nothing "real world" about this game. In any sense. In various situations there can be seemingly endless new ways in which this game will defy every law of physics we have imaginable. However, there's no reason or justification that you can give me realistically or theoretically that can explain why my player slides back 6-5 feet when a sharp with 70 something playmaking does this move. Stop it.

My explanation how to defend this move is a 2k only type of defense. If I was playing defense on Steph Curry the way I do on 2k I would be the laughing stock of the NBA because he would be scoring 85 points a game on me.

The only way to play a sharp is the opposite of a slasher. You mean I can take Jordan out of the game by mistiming blocks and jumping a hundred times or waving my hand at his nuts a hundred times a possession trying to steal the ball so he's dribbling over himself a hundred times over dropping the ball and picking it back up 4 times a possession?

This game is not realistic, in any sense. This is just the worst of it.
This is a perfect example of what this game has become!

not it hasnt been removed completely. the only reason guys in the combine couldnt do it as much is because they didnt have boosted guys with badges. the badges make it even more over powered.

Care to elaborate more ? This is kind of vague. We need details .were they using zone? Because that won’t help in walk on. What archetypes were they guarding ? Did you join them for a match and play it yourself ?
