I've been actually playing Switch the last few weekends. And it's just good feeling to invite friends over and play Mario Kart.

I've gotten married, two kids, and bought a house within the last 4 years. Video games and sports are essentially my only hobbies. It really ends up just being up you needing to picks few things.

I haven’t shot >35% in any game. I turn the ball over like crazy. Westbrook gets his stats but is shooting 27%.

For comparison I also can’t play madden without throwing 8 interceptions per game either. So I’ve come to the conclusion I’m too damn old for sports games. It was great while it lasted.

Don't give up man! I might be the oldest on here at 44 still playing video games and married and have 3 boys but video sports game is supposed to be all about having fun. Start slow and its true that everybody is saying put the difficulty on rookie and make your way up. If pride is getting in the way the next best solution for yourself is play 1 game and then review the replay so can see where you made mistake and what work best for yourself.

Also, someone said do two man game then branch off some money plays that works for you. Don't give up man!

30 and change is really not old especially for a game like nba 2k. I think you just lack practice with the game and should consider allowing your game time to practice first and get comfortable with the controlls. You're fine man we have older gamers who still kick ***.

This is one reason why I wish 2K would bring back the Arcade/Normal/Sim options.

I was asking about this for the last 2 years. I have a 6 year cousin who wants to play. But the game is too much for him. I need NBA Jam style gameplay for him. Or NBA Streets style.

This is precisely the problem though. I don’t have time to practice. If I spent my 3 hours per week practicing I’d have zero time left to play. Playing is my practice. My reflexes are off. I have arthritis in my thumb for God’s sake hahaha.

Yea no shame in going to rookie mode man. Remember it's about having fun. You'll know when it's time to put the level up. I use to be a HOF only guy. But the last 3-4 years. I've gotten away from that. Playing on Pro is just as good in 2k18.

I've never viewed practicing as a choir, it was always part of the whole thing and just as fun as playing normal games. But I understand you feel different. I feel your pain about arthritis I have that **** too and I ain't that old lol.

Maybe you should give Live a go if you don't have a lot of time.

Practicing may not be a chore (just a heads up, choir = group of singers lol) if you then play games and get the payoff, but if his time is limited he'd be practicing for the sake of practicing. Insert Iverson meme here.

NBA2k is not a casual sports game, and I love it for that. But the cost of that is some will get left behind.

OP says he has time for a game or two a week, and I feel like you need 3 full length games played closely to eachother (one or two nights) in order to develop your skill in the game.

I used to play 2k16 like a madman. Back to back to back was the norm. My stick skills were amazing (for me anyway). It’s crazy what a couple years off will do to your stick skills. I was nasty on guitar hero expert mode I probably wouldn’t be able to 5 Star easy mode now.

That’s a perfect quote right there. It’s not a casual game. And it shouldn’t be. It’s too good to be casual. But I’m a casual player now so I have to adapt.

I may give rookie mode (gulp) a try. Can’t believe I just said that.

Yeah I can see that. And thanks for the correction

Although I always thought 2K offered both experiences, the casual one and the sim oriented one with it's indepth customization.
