yeah the game is not hard, its just hard to win games.
I started with a record nearly as bad as 0-35 and my point loss differential was as high.
winning games is mostly about your defensive settings. Id look at samphams videos(is that his name).
Im still horrible, I have my settings somewhere between rookie and pro.

2k does need to bring back the sim/casual/default settings.
the game is hard to tweak this year.

shout out to all the 40+ year old gamers. they said we'd out grow playing these games....NOT!!!!!!

This turned out to be one of the best forum threads I’ve ever seen. I was expecting a lot of “quit yer whining” but there was none of that.

Perhaps we need an “ over 40 gamers” forum in here where we can bitch about inflammation and discuss our favorite over the counter arthritis medications.

Sliders I found made it feel more like 16 for me. The % shooting was much higher for CPU on 18 than it was in 16 at a same difficulty. Even on pro I thought the Ai was tough on 18. I adjusted CPU Shooting sliders for the most part. I'd recommend sliders to make it more your taste.

I'm over 40 and while I hear you on declining reflexes, 2K definitely need not be beyond you.

Sounds like your main issue is turnovers and if you're seriously getting 20+ TO's per game, then it's a safe assumption that you're simply forcing a lot of bad passes. I assume that's the case if you're using icon passing and passing where you want to pass...only doing it at the wrong time.

It sounds simple, but I think the key has to be that you need to be more deliberate in your passing. Make sure you have line of sight and no intervening defenders. If you're giving up a lot of TO's during Pick & Roll, on the roll, then you probably need to get a better sense of the angles you need to make a clean pass.

It's all just a matter of playing enough so that you're executing the basic stuff as instinctively, without needing to really think. If you haven't gotten there, then I would say you're sort of always playing with a low grade panic going on and not quite in control of your actions.

If you need to dial down to Rookie and you enjoy it, no shame in that. Keep playing on that til you dominate, then dial it up to Pro. Then All-Star. Then Superstar. Hall of Fame is kind of masochistic, IMO.

This is my first 2k since 2k15 and it's definitely been a struggle. It took me until my seventh season to win the Championship - the grind makes it worth it though

Oddly, no. Most of my turnovers come from players just dropping the ball. Even after I upped ball security to 100 I still get about 10 turnovers per game from a player just simply dropping the ball or getting it knocked out of his hands. Happens to Porzingas all the time.

Anyway here's an update. I switched to the Knicks and started a new MyLeague. Simmed the first 3 seasons, ended up drafting Top 5 a couple times. 2 of my picks were semi-busts but good are enough to play 20-25 minutes per game. However in the 3rd year draft I picked a SF that is amazing. Averaging 18-5-5 as a rookie.

I've played 5.5 games and the scores are great. Got blown out by GS (duh) but I beat the teams I'm supposed to and have had some really close games.

I'm still on Pro but I messed around with the sliders and I think I'm at a good spot. Blocks are a bit low, turnovers are a bit high but overall good. My passing has gotten a ton smoother for some reason. Maybe I just needed a team that played to my strengths a bit.

Playing with out of the box settings I must admit playing on allstar (this is the setting I played all my previous 2k games on)is a little more difficult this year than on past 2ks. I had to bump it down to pro for a bit, then play on allstar with adjustments.

Sounds like maybe you're colliding while dribbling? If so, minimize running into people with the ball, especially when using Turbo. In many ways, the ball doesn't interact fully with its environment, as a physical object, but it often can, and it's known that a good way to get a "steal," is by running into the ball, as a defender, which can jar it loose. Of course, can/will happen more with someone like Porizingis, who has low Ball Control and is very tall.

How long are your quarters? I think 1 per quarter minute is about right...e.g. 5 for whole game of 5-minute quarters. NBA average/median is about 14 for 12-minute quarters.

Try to play with Player lock. This makes It easier. Just a Suggestion. And dont forget about the sliders.

I play 12 minute qtrs. My turnovers are one thing but when I have 15 and cpu consistently has 2 it’s impossible to win.

But yeah it’s basically just collisions and losing the ball.
