There is a shot meter on layups.

I don't know why Mike thought that was a good idea, but looks like he'll be changing that for next year.

Simply put, it does happen ALOT in real life, but its one of those things in video games people don't really want no matter how much they say they love sim or competitive online play.

Some things just dont translate well into videogames... im not mad at him for trying, but when doing things like this he should probably design it with the option to turn on or off like how you can toggle between real FG% vs user input/timing

Re: YouTube community it’s claiming nba 2k18 is dead

Just got out of a pro am walk on game where the other team quit in the first quarter .

We are literally forced to play the CPU for the remaining quarters. Now in past games the game would end , give VC , give rep and save time . Felt like we were watching paint dry . Experience was super boring . Man I felt like I was suffering lol . But that is an example that does “kill “ 2k for me as an online gamer . Im less likely to play another match after that. But a way to fix that would be to end the game like past years .

To be fair, layup misses like Lebron last night have always been in the game, but this year they are something special. Players throwing it off the underside of the backboard, in the opposite direction, off the rim as your player is bringing it up to lay in. The problem is badges and attributes imo. They've gone so far to make players that specialise in doing one thing, they've had to nerf a lot of other players. There is also the issue of what 2k is classing as contested, versus what can be seen on screen. This goes back to last year where park playmakers were making ridiculously contested layups and duking in traffic constantly, so they've had to kill that this year.

I think the layup meter is def coming back next year, but it's just going to be visible again like 17, instead of hidden like 18.

Totally agreed. I've been playing NBA games for years (decades, actually) and have never had to deal with a layup meter. If they're planning on ditching it for 2K19, I'd say that's a good thing.

There will always be peaks and valleys as new games drop...

You said it yourself....Fortnite is killing every one....it's not like its a basketball game moving in on 2K's genre, it's just a massive popular game....2K is still in the top 5 on the broadcast list any given night on PS4/XBL...wouldn't be surprised if it's back in the top 3 near June like it usually is...

I think Chris Smoove is a prime example of people that are influential in a healthy way; I think 2K gives him a copy of the game early each year. I don’t watch much his new stuff anymore (I’ve been subbed since 2012) but I remember a video talking about the future of 2K, and I think he blamed the YT community for the current state the game is in. It’s been a while so I don’t remember what exactly was said. But I have seen him upload more highlights of real life games and even MUT games more so than 2K gameplay.

My mistake. I thought the poll ended 52/48 in favour of a visible meter.

I like Smoove, but he's just (understandably) bored and unimpressed with the setup of mycareer these days. I watch some of his 2k14 career series from time to time, and you can tell in his voice he's having a blast. He has called for the removal of attribute caps in career though which I'm fully behind.

The poll did but the actual feedback from users were against it entirely.

You just asked if 2k was dead on a 2k forum

                            You already lost

I’m surprised this hasn’t been a factor for more people around here. It’s a huge deal breaker on YouTube .

Another problem in walk on is that people can shoot directly in the A.I’s face all game even if you make them play tight. You can also abuse the A.I on pick n rolls . A.I had the worst defense off of picks. Lastly you can use the hip ride animation on the A.I every play . Those are huge issues for pro am walk on that have not been addressed.
