Every year the last version of 2k is better than the current.

2k17 > 2k18
2k16 > 2k17 & 2k18

It’s funny because when i was playing those past 2k games I didn’t like them but now playing 18 I have a new found respect for the past versions.

Man I just wish 2k had more defensive tools to counter the hip ride animation . It does kill the enjoyment of the game for me. A lot of youtubers mentioned it as a contributing factor for them quitting the game .

I am someone who begged for more hip ride animations after 17' but I also wanted more forced dribble pick ups as well. It's about balance. 2k needs to bring Meta World Peace or Bowen in the studio to work on defensive maneuvers on and off ball(There used to be a ton of off ball maneuvers on offense and defense in 2k10). I think that other hoop game this year has done a better job of simulating the 1 v 1 aspect in hoop. Despite this, I like 18 much better than 17 as I'm mostly an offline player. It seems like the people that hate this game the most are mostly my career/park players.

This reminds me of a couple of weeks ago when youtubers were all following the trend of saying COD WW2 was dead (for clicks and likes) until one youtuber called their bluff and pulled up the actual numbers of people playing.What he showed was the game was healthy as heck as far as people playing online.In the end he said don't say the game is dead because YOU lost interest just say ''you lost interest'' and thats whats going on with 2k imo.The game is nowhere near DEAD, you just lost interest.

We dont have any new game modes .

Where is mypark ranked

Where is mypark league.

Ability to create teams in mypark and signing for small 16 teams tournaments.

Dribbling animations are all the same.

Mypark dunks are trash.

Layups are broken late contest on layups means that you will missed it 80% of the time everybody now just drive in the paint wait for a jump attempt and then you score if defender didnt jump you passout to a corner and repeat.

Badges that are op

Ankle breaker(the way how ankle breakers works in this game is super stupid even if you dont move at all and he dances around you could be dropped there is no logic behind it)

Pick and roll maestro(thats why we see this tryhards doing 300 screens in one action just to trigger it and then its a green all the time...)

Posterizer hof (too many bailout)

Limitless range.

We didnt get any gameplay fixes to online this year(pro 3 move on stage vs pure sharp good luck)

Centers dunking in the paint its ridicoulous...

Defense is not rewarding at all.

Pure sharp this archetype just need to be removed from entire game it completely destroy balance of the game.

A lot of time the result of the game depends on luck with animations.

Venue is just super bad all this modes are boring...

Neighberhood its a waste of time and also a bad idea give us more parks where we can go bring back affilations and rival days but improve them a lot.

The harsh reality is that Fortnite is making 2k irrelevant to casual gamers. Fortnite is a fun, free to play game, that constantly gets updated each and every week. Meanwhile, 2k is more frustrating than fun (at this point) . due to all the legacy issues and the fact that it forces people to spend money to be competitive. Not to mention, rarely does the game ever get updated. It’s just stale and boring.

I expect more and more casuals to abandon 2k going forward. The franchise is super stagnant right now.

I completely agree. All I played was 2k pretty much until I downloaded fortnite. I still play 2k and I enjoy it but if I'm going to sit down for a few hours and play I'd rather play fortnite.

Also, if it weren't for the legends on this forum creating rosters and the ultimate draft class sets then I honestly would find the game boring already. The 97, 01 rosters are really fun and I'm excited for the 04-05 rosters to be done as well.

Exactly. 2k can still be fun at times, but for the most part I just find myself more frustrated than anything. Servers are still crap, the grind to 99 is ridiculously long, the story mode is as corny as ever, and Myleague barely has any replay value due to the terrible CAP system....With Fortnite you just get a more enjoyable experience, for little to no cost, whatsoever. It’s that simple.

I don't get the whole obsession over fortnite, I was bored with that game within minutes. No reward system whatsoever, crap graphics, outdated mechanics, ya it's free but it looks and plays like it's free. I guess it appeals to the younger crowd but I like my games with more depth like 2K provides

I think Chris Smoove is a prime example of people that are influential in a healthy way; I think 2K gives him a copy of the game early each year. I don’t watch much his new stuff anymore (I’ve been subbed since 2012) but I remember a video talking about the future of 2K, and I think he blamed the YT community for the current state the game is in. It’s been a while so I don’t remember what exactly was said. But I have seen him upload more highlights of real life games and even MUT games more so than 2K gameplay.

Smoove uploaded a 2k vid about two weeks ago...

Me and Smoove go back and haven't always seen eye to eye but it was never about click bait/ going to extremes for views with him....even if he was digging into 2k about something...

but yeah, I know the vid your referencing talking about the 2K YT community...and I completely agree with him...

Happens in the FGC (fighting game community) too....nature of the beast....Maximillion Dood not feeling Injustice anymore really has little to do with how much people are playing it as a whole....

It was more about PUBG for me. My buddies have an Xbox and I was able to play it and I thought it was so fun. Realistic and hard as hell to win. Actually takes strategy to win.

I have a PS4 so pubg isn't out for us yet so I downloaded fortnite. I was originally really against the game. Like yeah it was similar battle Royale style but I thought the graphics sucked and the building was dumb. I stopped playing it for weeks. Then I played for a few days with some friends that I found out had a PS4 and ever since then I've been hooked.

The building makes the game completely different than pubg strategy wise. The biggest thing to me about this game is that it is so hard to win and when you win it's a better feeling than any time I've won in any other game.


I've played 2k since 2k8....used to play PNO but now am mostly just myleague. I hate the CAP system, sometimes the game is too easy, sometimes too hard. Haven't found sliders that I love yet and I've tried every one on this forum so far(as of a few weeks ago).

I wish more of my friends played 2k on PS4. I think then I'd be more into it.

I don't think it's dead. I can just understand the reasons to why people would want to play fortnite over the same 2k they've played for the last 3-4 years.

2k18 is still alive and well. Am I getting bored quicker this year? Yes. But are new rosters coming out all of the time to switch things up....absolutely.
