Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
reading the description of "take over" makes me almost not want to buy 2k19 because it sounds like gamebreakers in street.
So, if it's Chris Paul, he might unlock the Dimer badge under his name, meanwhile Kyle Irving might unlock the Ankle Breaker attribute.
does this mean CP doesnt have dimer, kyrie doesnt have AB? do they only have active badges while on takeover mode? wtf is 2k doing.
I do wonder if a player and "take over" in more than one category. Like could a player like Curry "take over" in shooting, passing, and dribbling badges at the same time?Comment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
I think in 2K18 you will see more of those branches and variety if you play with Scoring Actions on. Have you tried that? You still won't see the full on play art all together for every branch the way it used to be - and I detailed all of them in videos for triangle in the past - but you will see more of the CPU choosing key actions that fit your players and to some extent the way the defense is playing.
I think I heard Czar say on maybe one of his videos this year that he may change up the way they have motion cuts and scoring actions so split up, I'm not sure.
I think he was saying that the intent for simplifying motion cuts was to make it most accessible and predictable to newer users, but that maybe in retrospect it didn't play out as planned because those users never really learned how to get to the next level in scoring actions so they missed out on all the depth available.
Czar might not confirm or comment on that now, since it's not really time yet to talk publicly about these things in 2k19, but that's just a side note for you sim heads, something to watch for.
I have used Triangle in Scoring Actions, but it as well felt formulaic. Obviously it is incredibly difficult to mimic that offense in a game, especially when it is predicated upon the defense dictating the offense. However I will try Scoring Actions on 18 again to see what I have missed or am doing wrong.
I am big fan of your videos, hope to see more soon!Comment

Technically it was quite an achievement that people who knew nothing about it could run it easily by following the play art. At this point I'm not sure how I would approach opening it back up. I would have to think about that as the tech has changed dramatically.
That is always a tuff call. Do I make it easy to run for all, or keep the options stacked in there and tucked away for experienced users to pull out when they see fit?
I don't think I really know the answer and as I said opening it back up again would definitely take a good deal of thought because of all the changes the systems have gone through since that initial version.Catch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
Hey Czar whats up with this new engine you guys are pushing now, it looks and feels like they're on ice. Id rather it still be the way it was even in 2k17 or 2k16 with the player movement, it felt like the players had weight and had to plant properly (somewhat) to move, that could have still been polished. In 2k18 and so far in 2k19 players are able to warp or slide and recover in spots that is unrealistic to basketball. Im really not a fan of this new engine.Comment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
The Triangle is my favorite offense IRL.
From what I remember in 16 there were less determined branches and the almost totality of the offense appeared to be available. 18 felt streamlined with overall basic rules only. For example in 18 the UCLA cut PnR action, as well as center opposite entries were limited or missing.
Czar, as a Triangle enthusiast I love how the offense can also be a format. How difficult is it in programming and designing to modernize the Triangle? By no means am I requesting, but personally curious.
You the man Czar!
The more new features I add the less time I have to change and adjust what is already there. I'm trying really hard to leave everything in but upgrades mean everything you have now becomes a maintenance issue and eventually one has to set priorities to be able to finish things on time. It is an interesting problem and I am always trying new things to solve it.Catch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
It is always helpful if you are more descriptive when making requests like this. By this point I have no real recollection of what anything looked like as far back as 2k16 when considering how many changes have happened in the data between then and now.
So what exactly are you looking for with the triangle that has changed ?

To reduce sliding what you're saying is you are willing to give up the ability to have your player be as responsive. All that foot-planting means your throwing your stick and he is not moving, He is playing a weighted cut. Not everyone is a fan of that even though it looks good it doesn't always feel good.
Please note these are my personal opinions on the subject and in no way represents 2k's train of thought on this. If you go back through the forums when those games were out one of the big complaints was about our motion. Yall were steady upset with how long it took actions to develop. Well, we fixed some of that but it came at a cost.
So it is a balancing act between user control and foot planting or weight based movement. The best selling basketball games have always had some sliding because they have the smoothest animations.
Personally, I wouldn't trade the offensive fluency of movement we have now solely for better foot planting.Catch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
I’m not sure sometimes you guys realize everything you have given us as far as the tools with the depth of sliders, tendencies, etc. It doesn’t necessarily require a new engine just utilizing the tools that are already in the game currently to get the desired result. Wouldn’t this be the perfect workaround? Just throwing that out there...Last edited by vannwolfhawk; 07-24-2018, 12:16 AM.Basketball Playbooks

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
Not sure I have waved anything off. Lol! I might have missed it. I knew some things were wacky with defensive settings a bit especially with switching. I did notice things I’d call and my cpu ai wasn’t doing something but just kind of dismissed it. I didn’t play 1 game online this year otherwise it would probably have stuck out more to me. If this is the case it would make a lot of sense to me. Now I’m curious to go test all this. So, what all menus are off and switched?Basketball Playbooks
