Re: Random NBA 2K19 Detail From Mike Wang
I hope the AI will be capable of using both of these great new moves. I don't mean to be negative, but this feels like one of those advanced things that are great for users, but the AI can't or won't use themselves.
Still, I'd definitely rather have them in the game without the AI using them than not in the game at all.Comment

Maaaan the memories we’ve shared lol. I don’t know though. People that used to know how to do the spin dunk without posting was probably the biggest cheese lol.
I am anxious to see how all this stuff turns out.

There was no way euro dunk wasn't gonna be in this year with Giannis on the cover.
Love it.Comment

Re: Random NBA 2K19 Detail From Mike Wang
Terrific post. Bravo sir! This is cool news. Not until 2k provides a plethora of options on the defensive side of the ball will this franchise truly go to the next level..They spend so much time animating the offensive side of the ball and providing various options to it, defense feels like an afterthought. We should be able to pick between poking at the ball or swiping up/down at the ball. Bring back the defensive hop step that existed in older installments. Different individual stances/techniques ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxN...42O_1M2RiY3vxw)
Looking forward to 2k19.
Expanding, I would like to see AI defenders gap certain players a lot more this year. As an OKC guy, it was crazy how much the AI got right up on Russ only to allow me to blitz past them every single time - far too many dunks per game as a result.
Hopefully they don't behave the same and there's just a band aid fix of "better one on one defense" with bumps and animations.
I want to see them drop right back as soon as I make my move and force me to take pull up mid range Js just like in real life. Basketball is giving up something whilst taking away something else. Forcing a decision. Chess moves etc.
This would apply to a plethora of players, not just Russ. Greek Freak would be one also (which gives me hope considering he's the cover boy)Comment

"You can branch to dunks from euro, cradle, hop step, and spin gathers."
Hopefully this brings more realism to players like Kyrie Irving and Giannis. Did not like his dunk packages and he never really felt like "The Greek Freak" to me in 18. Maybe this will be a good change.Comment

He also added today that you can branch off for little guys in floaters and runners. This is going to be amazing... Seriously hype just off this addition alone.

Re: Random NBA 2K19 Details From Mike Wang
Mike- Thank you for these tidbits. I’m excited when I see an update to this thread!
Two Questions:
- Can any player perform a crab dribble, or are they tied to ratings? It’s amazing the top PG’s have this at their disposal, but I hope it cant be used effectively by everyone.
- Is the AI programmed to use the crab dribble and all of these new Euro dunks/floaters your are tweeting about?
Thanks!!Comment

Re: Random NBA 2K19 Details From Mike Wang
I like these details. It sounds like they're trying to breakdown the animations a bit more.
Like someone said you couldn't really put stuff together like the way Giannis would in real life, but you could with these controls.
They'll probably be difficult to pull off correctly, but that could mean a bigger skill gap and rewards for the person for learning to do it properly. I like what I'm hearing.Comment

Re: Random NBA 2K19 Details From Mike Wang
great additions !
the hype is slowly growing. I hate the 2k community though. All these tweets about new animations and gameplay, and you have a boatload of dummies talking bout "bring rep back" "new park" etc... i hate it lol
anyway.
salute to mike and the others, they seem to have worked their butts off this year"I just wanna be heaaaaaaaaard"Comment

Mike also put on Twitter to do a crossover between the legs you now use RT and left on Right stick (if ball in right hand). I personally like that addition. Especially with live ball and for me being a broadcast cam player. Too many times I’d mean to do a between legs but would get a simple cross instead.
The dribble crab dribble off pnr’s, simple between legs cross to counter live ball more intuitive, and the LT for stop dribble hesi. Using LT as a point guard ala Gary Payton or Magic with back to defender will be necessary again as well to counter live ball steals. Add to that right stick stealing is back. All great additions!
