I truly believe EA lacks the skill and passion to do what 2k does, but 2k is definitely not a small fish. They're owned by the same company responsible for GTA, Bioshock, and Civilization.

Back to the topic at hand, I really want to know more about the ML sliders, particularly trade value. Having a bad contract on the books should be a handicap.

Look at the Wizards right now, their hands are tied as far as what they can do because they have some bad contracts. Real life this is a major obstacle to improving the team but in 2k, ship those contracts off for 2nd round picks to any team with the cap space to eat it. In 2k Deng's contract is not at all a problem, send him to Atlanta for a 2nd round pick. Lakers are free of that contract plus they get a draft pick. Not realistic at all.

I would love to see players with negative trade value, so that you have to bribe the other team into taking on the contract. Its a part of the rebuilding process.

Do you know that the team is smaller?
Edit: Because according to the developers, the 2k team was significantly larger:
"When it comes to the size of those teams, the three gentlemen differed on their answers. While Channon declined to give specific numbers, Graddy said the Madden team is "well over a hundred people," and Jones said the NBA 2K team is around 200 developers."

Nice job. I would love this depth and customization in mlb the show.

            New CAP system!!!Tgor come back.........................................
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Re: NBA 2K19 MyLEAGUE and MyGM Developer Blog

2K's MyLeague team deserves a lot of recognition. It feels like each year I read the MyLeague blog I'm blown away by all the new things they brought to the table. Seriously impressed. My highlights:

              1. Return of previous Create-a-Player format. It's sort of a classic move of "remove-a-feature-then-tout-it-as-brand-new-when-it-comes-back", but I'm just glad it's back.

              2. Historical Draft Classes: I'm not quite sure what I'm going to be able to do with this feature but I like that it exists. The classes probably can't be that deep, right? Or perhaps they can be edited, supplemented, and re-uploaded to the community?

              3. Player Mentorships: Anything that helps justify my decision to sign Emeka Okafor, Vince Carter, and Deron Williams in my 2K18 Pistons MyLeague is cool with me.

              4. New All-Star Format: I think All-Star Weekend has a lot more potential than we tend to give credit, and I think a lot more can be done, but this is a move in the right direction. Also, another thumbs up to 2K for creating new all-star court art each year in the 2K18 MyLeague instead of just sending teams back to L.A. every year.

              5. New Summer League: Great news. 2K's summer league was already a pleasant surprise (I liked the detail of assistant coaches running teams in polo shirts). Cool to hear they're going all the way in.

              6. More New Rule Changes (with options): I never thought to request this idea but it's actually such a cool addition. Love to hear they're adding more to it. The lottery tournament sounds so crazy I might just want to give it a shot.

              7. Player DNA: The wording was a little confusing in this feature description but I think Erick was basically describing a return of the old 2KShare feature that allowed gamers to upload individual created players for others to download and add to their rosters. That would be a gift for roster creators and maybe the most important piece I read today. If I could download a masterfully created Rasheed Wallace instead of having to personally re-create all his features while watching YouTube tutorials, that'd be incredible.

              8. 2K's push to stay up to date with all new rules and intricacies: Can't say enough about a development team that places a priority on things like updating to the proper draft lottery rules. Wonderfully done.

Re: NBA 2K19 MyLEAGUE and MyGM Developer Blog

I know beggars can't be choosers--this is all really awesome stuff, and I'm going to pre-order the instant I can.

But there's one feature I really wish was put in this year, and they should try to use it next year: The elimination of the very idea of the "max contract."

People have discussed this in real life as a way to reduce superteams and pay superstars what they're worth, even if it would likely make the NBA's role players make a bit less. That's why it will probably never happen in the real NBA, but I would've liked the option in the game.

Maybe it's an undisclosed possible MyLeague rule change, like altering the lottery...

I think the reason for that in previous 2Ks is that the CPU logic looked at OVR only, and if I'm not mistaken, Deng still has a decent rating on 2K -- high 70s, low 80s, right? So a team like Atlanta, that doesn't have a lot of talent, is simply looking at that OVR in comparison to what's currently on their roster.

I think with these new sliders in place, we can lower the value that OVR ratings have on trade logic and force the CPU teams to consider other factors when trading or signing players, like playing time and injury history.

So while bad contracts were not specifically mentioned, I believe the tools are in place for us to make bad contracts have an impact moving forward by manipulating those other factors which make it a bad contract.
According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.

The historical draft classes, if they contain all players from the classic teams and all-time teams is the best thing ever! Also the TPE, 1-16 option and all the sliders to control even more is just insane. Well done! The only thing that is still frustrating is we cannot just create a player, no matter how good the CAP system is, and add him to a classic team so we can fill out the roster. So frustrating to see CPU and when you sim the no names Johnson's get playing time. I want to make the whole team, seems like too much to ask.

What I'm curious about is this. If you don't have 30 people in your Myleague online can the admin control the CPU teams like 30 team control in offline? That will be a deal breaker for me. I like to keep the rosters accurate to real life in the first season.

He is a 73 overall. Its not that the AI looks at overall only, the problem is that the absolute lowest trade value is half a star (same as 2nd round picks typically).

They need to introduce the idea of negative trade value. That is what guys like Deng, Mahinmi, Noah, etc have. You can't "sweeten the pot" in real life by saying we'll give you Deng. You offer Deng to a team and that team will say you have to "sweeten the pot" if you want us to take him.

We can probably attempt to alleviate the problem with these sliders, but that will probably create problems elsewhere.

Stoked they added 1-16 seeding, I suggested that on the wishlist!

The historical draft classes thing is cool too...makes me think they may be planning on historical rosters for 2K20 perhaps.
