I really try avoid this notion, but I do have games where I know I'm clearly the better player. The games where I know my opponent don't know what he's doing, but I can't get over the "ratings" hump. I'm losing due to not getting to the FT line or clanking open shots while my opponent is killing me on contested looks.

I just had a game that personified this. I played the most basic opponent using the Celtics and I had the Rockets. ALL he did was running inbound, and chuck fast break 3's with whoever got the ball, usually Tatum. It was beyond annoying. On the break your defense has no idea what is happening and you can get off wide open 3's if you force it enough. He would get the most ridiculous loose balls, bump steals while holding LT, rebounds going through my hands.

I actually got more confidence as the BS continued and I missed wide open shots that I was hitting before, because I knew my opponent had to be terrible for the rubberbanding BS to be hitting me that hard. I eventually had to grind it out until I hit a big 3 with less than a minute left.

He should have been blown out in the first half.

The new thing I’m finding is that my defensive AI will routinely foul to keep a struggling opposing offense in the game. I’m constantly switching on and off ball to defend movement and reposition players. If I leave the ball handler for a moment, my AI defenders just get reach ins left and right at an alarming rate. I had someone foul out for the first time ever in my 2k career today. I don’t mash steal, most of my user fouls are contesting hyper-aggressive rim attackers. Not sure if anyone else experienced this, but given how many steal spammers I run into, you think it would be the opposite.

Majority of my fouls are caused by the AI. I don't it mind too much. I just hate it when you recognize the situation for what it is, you switch to "conservative", and your team is still giving up crazy fouls at an alarming rate.

Not really. There is still some cheese (no game is ever cheddar free), but I think the game tends to do you bogus more than your opponent.

I feel like this about every 2K game but 17-19 are the worse offenders to me because there seems to be a serious rubber band effect, and the ridiculous shooting abilities by every player on top of the myriad of issues in each game. At least in 15-16, I could dominate my opponents if there was a serious skill gap.

I've been on the other side where my opponent is dominating me the 1st half, then I come out making almost any shot I take after halftime - regardless of shot quality. I had a game with fatleg3 last year that went just like this. He was up by like 25+ points by halftime because I couldn't buy a basket and he had the Warriors. I stormed back in the 2nd half even though I took those same shots in the 1st half but ended up losing by 4 because he iced the game with a clutch deep 3 with Steph that he banked.

This prolly my least played 2k although I got the GOAT trophy last week. My main gripe is the cpu defense is too good of a buffer for the offballers who are afraid to guard up, this year especially. Super annoying cause some of these dudes are really good with isomotion n scoring n some games I get legit killed tryna guard up but they go offball n don’t wanna keep an even playing field smh. Disappointing to say the least. Then some of them even have nerve to pause taunt smh lol like really bro

I'm currently in the College league with one game to go to unlock the Tier 1 Historic teams. I haven't ran into any All-Time yet. I want to say that you shouldn't go no further that the Development league.

KSutt, your in college league bud. You wouldn’t even be able to process the rubber banding or scripted gameplay of GOAT. It’s a million times worse.

I'm pretty sure the badges are just ratings in tiers. What I mean is that instead of using the 25-99 scale completely, it goes like:

44 = Bronze
62 = Silver
81 = Gold
99 = HOF

Then the mental ones are 99. Of course if you don't have the badge, it defaults to 25. They're probably not the exact figures but you get the point.

That's what I've been saying because I'm not looking for the human defender. But I've learned when the defense seems to good and they are hiding in the corner then I will play attack the human and it works.

As sad as that is I don't have much option when plays, freelances don't work and open shot aren't going down and the defense seems to overpowered.

It's a last resort for me if they wanna hide. You're not gonna win like that against me.

There is always a weakness in the D somewhere whether that is the human or a paricular play or strategy you just have to adjust and find it as it depends what the other dude has set.

A couple of cut to baskets with the player they are guarding destroys all moral for 90% of these dudes as they can't switch off and get all confused lol. Quit time.
