I lost a game off that and think I finally experience the 2K bs on a level many people talk about. I was up with seconds left, passed to my best ballhandler, held LT with the ball away from the defender, he somehow swiped through me for the steal. I knew exactly what was coming, prepared for it, and executed exactly the way I should have and still lost because 2K. Infuriating.

Re: NBA 2K19 Play Now Online Thread
Seriously, I ran into a few annoying cheesers in a row and it reminded me of how good the even borderline normal games are.
It's now the same playstyle. Front inbounder, swipe after inbound, swipe up court, swipe as soon as you get the ball, running 3/4 court inbound, pass drive, pass drive, maybe pumpfake, add in personal cheese twist if they are extra spicey.Comment

I must REALLY be in the minority when it comes to playing this game, lol. The only cheese that I seem to run into is the 4-1PnR abuse, but that stop being an issue for me since I don't play on-ball defense anymore in those circumstances. When I find time, I like PNO as is. However, I think the current Pacers are a secret OP team. They have so many d*mn shooting threats on the floor that it's hard to lock down the entire team especially if you take advantage of the mid-range game, and they play pretty good team defense on the default settings.
I really do wish they bring back Roy Hibbert for the Classic Pacers team. I think I would dominate online if I had a complete team.Comment

I think the key is not getting frustrated and taken off your game because that's what kills you. Gotta keep a cool head when playing online.

Lmao @ "If they are extra spicy" [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]Yea. I may be in the minority with you. Haven't been running into cheesers with any type of regularity. And a few small adjustments can offset a lot of the more cheesy elements in the game. Though that may not always be enough.

Most people are about jacking 3's, and I honestly think that Mike Wang did a stealth tuner update to contested shots. Contested 3's are not going in at the same rate as they were in the beginning, and the biggest change is that I can actually hit shots in the paint. Also, I don't use the shot meter or feedback system.
Personally, the game reminds more of NBA 2K11 where I just let the game come to me, and I try not to be so one-dimensional. I do wish they patch the 24 second shot clock bug though.Comment

Re: NBA 2K19 Play Now Online Thread
That's been the key for me too. All my games start out the same where both me and my opponent are shooting some ridiculous high percentages above 60%. As the games continues, I tend to notice what patterns I need to notice to make the necessary changes on defense. The main thing that I REALLY like about the Pacers is that anyone can be a scoring threat as long I keep to making the right plays, utilize my freelances (which I've preaching since Day 1), don't rush the shot, and USE the mid-range game.

That's exactly how I play. I don't even care about the first half. I know eventually I'll adjust and most people don't have a second option or alternative playstyle.
Having a versatile team helps because you can adjust to anything, which is why using some of these historic teams is killing me. These headband John Brown lineups ruin my whole vibe haha.Comment

.
But there are a lot of people that post that seem to be struggling shooting the ball and I'm wondering how many of them would probably benefit from turning the meter off as well.
Ive turned it off from day one when it was introduced. The shot meter completely Markelle Fultz's my shot in 2K [emoji23]

I really wonder how many people have tried shooting with the shot meter off. I do that as well and shooting feels good to me.

Re: NBA 2K19 Play Now Online Thread
People who can't adjust to off-ball defense are scrubs. Their the ones who come down and run the same pick n roll offense everytime.
IN the REAL NBA (which if people don't realize this is a simulation of) NBA defenses take every advantage they can, including playing off weak offensive players. Good NBA offenses adjust. If you can;t adjust go play NBA playgrounds or soemthing
And re the comments about adjusting play style as you learn the opposition's patterns, agree 100%. Most players are sooooo predictable, once you work it out it's ez win no matter how badly you start.
I run different plays all game, I feel like I am really hard to stop coz my offense is unpredictable. I struggle on defense a bitComment

Re: NBA 2K19 Play Now Online Thread
Well after a 2 month hiatus from PNO, I have given it another run. I have played about 5 or 6 games so far and have won pretty easily every game. I've noticed we can pick whatever team we want now, so that's a huge plus. I haven't faced a variety of teams like some here have experienced but I also haven't been matched up with Golden State yet either. I've only faced the Rockets (~4x) and Thunder (2x) so far.
I feel like shooting is way too predictable still. You either make everything when you're wide open or you miss every contested shot, except for players with shooting badges. I usually generate a ton of open threes from breaking down the defense, either through DHO, floppy sets, or straight pick and roll, which have resulted in me consistently shooting 60-70% every game while shooting over 50% from three.
Sorry ksuttonjr76, I also feel like layups are affected too easily especially against elite below the rim finishers. The major problems here are the slow/unathletic drawn out layup animations, a lack of foul calls to tame button mashers, and that almost any defender can leap off the floor like prime LeBron to contest shots in the paint. There's a reason the paint is the #1 priority for the defense for any team. Once people are near the rim, teams have to rotate more defenders to the rim because players shoot high percentages there.
Also, reaching is still a problem. I shouldn't have to worry about Nerlens Noel pressing Tatum 5 feet beyond the three point line and getting 3 straight strips because the guy reaches a total of about 3 times while I size up or start making a move to the basket. I'm sure most steals in the NBA come from either the passing lane or an off-ball defender reaching on the offensive player who's making a move to the basket. As long as foul calls aren't being called more often, there's no reason for players to not reach in every couple seconds instead of playing positional defense.'Only The Strong Survive'Comment

Originally posted by LetItGoI don't understand complaints of cheesing in this game. It's very hard to cheese successfully this year since they took away the blow-bys. Everybody that I've come close to losing to or have lost to has been good at the game, save one guy that was just getting lucky.
What's so unstoppable this year that people are exploiting?
It's highly frustrating to loose to someone that has no skill that never runs plays, fast breaks all game, just pushes forward to the basket or will hunt for the man you are guarding all game if you off ball. If you on ball you can see how confident they become to go one on one. Geez if you had any offensive skill you would not hunt for me.
When I don't have lag I pretty much make dudes quit in the 1st quarter many times haha.
With the tweaks the game is much better now. My only complaint is the 2K "keep it close" KD fadeaway from 30ft...highly contested 3s....if they are down by a few points that is 100% going in.Last edited by WBjam; 11-14-2018, 06:11 PM.Comment

Sometimes I do wonder if I'm approaching the game differently than my peers. For example, the reaching in and lane steals didn't seem like it was that big of deal to me pre and post patch.Comment
