Re: If defense isn't nerfed Lockdowns will be superfluous.
I think what he's saying is everyone (even guys that are not great defenders) kinda feels like a great defender. But I mean it's always been that way playing the CPU...especially on HOF. The HOF CPU turns trash defenders into elite defenders.Comment

ANd without context of the attributes of the players involved in these hypothetical scenarios this discussion is pointless.
Imo it is very easy to get by subpar defenders. Guys dont recognize that every mismatch doesnt end in a layup or even in points. Sometimes all you get is an angle to put stress on the defense.Comment

Re: If defense isn't nerfed Lockdowns will be superfluous.
Between the defensive improvements and ball handlers not being able to zigzag for buckets, people will finally have to learn to pass, use angles, and set up their dribbling beyond 2K exploits. Finally!
The defense feels fantastic this year, but it's not impenetrable. Those who already played good defense are going to be hell this time around, especially if using defensive builds. It's gonna be a very rough year for a lot of these kids, but it's time to step the game up and play ball.Comment

Wanting a nerf to something after playing essentially 2 games against the CPU on Pro difficulty in a demo.
Wow.

Re: If defense isn't nerfed Lockdowns will be superfluous.
Taking a fresh approach and giving the guy the benefit of the doubt...
I agree with the premise. Having a defensive build should offer a clear defensive advantage over non-defensive builds. Slashing builds have a distinct advantage over non-slashing builds at finishing at the basket. Posterizer and relentless finisher let slashers finish drives when all other archetypes would have had the ball thrown back in their face.
With that said, it's way too early to suggest nerfing defense. All players should affect shots if they're in good defensive position and challenge the shot. However, I personally hope that they've buffed the defensive stopper badge. That's been the issue for me. Defensive stopper was only marginally useful at silver or below.Last edited by Vic_Clancy; 09-05-2018, 05:03 PM.NBA: Wizards

Re: If defense isn't nerfed Lockdowns will be superfluous.
Just watch the CPU guard itself. The offensive player will be stumbling over himself because Joe Blow defender is pressing him. There needs to be a medium. I saw in the prelude the offensive player lose the ball twice in the same possession and get it back both times. It's ugly IMO.
In my prelude experience the CPU was pressing me out past the 3 point line and I'm not even a shooter. With the blow by being gone they stone walled me to where i couldn't drive and then immediately doubled when i got close to the paint.
It's just a bit over done because we complained too much.
I understand the game isn't even out yet, but wait and see.
16 was similar. People weren't spending attribute points in defense because the mechanics were OP.
Trust me, I'm not trying to take anything away from LDDs I'm trying to help them.Comment

Can the game release and be out for a few weeks before we jump to conclusions about what needs to be fixed and improved?Comment

Re: If defense isn't nerfed Lockdowns will be superfluous.
welp pass the balll lol
if somebody is being aggressive with you and your not skilled enough on the sticks to counter then move the ball around, use screens. so many players are used to just sitting in corners while their guard just dribbles the clock away and rely on blowbys and glitched animations
I agree it shouldnt happen everytime but if everytime i notice you have no idea what your doing and your just trying to dribble in my face and im denying it and your losing stamina still trying to do the same thing then yes everytime you should get ripped.
there needs to be a skill gap and so far it looks promising.
So basically what you are saying is that you treat the game the same way you would real life ball and make adjustments based on how the other team and players are playing? In other words it's smart to actually use strategy in the game? Huh...who would have thought.Comment
