My only concern is that some builds which do not include a defensive archetype (mostly bigs), still get Silver Rim Protector.

To me that is a bit counter intuitive to how badges are supposed to work(defense badges on a build not known for defense).

Here's an honest question. Let's just say defense does turn out to be an issue for ProAm, My Player centric modes. Would it be possible to nerf defense just for those modes without needing defense across the board? My concern is always that the NBA side of things will get messed up because people don't like the way the game plays in my player centric modes when every player on the court is Human controlled.

The way the game feels right now everyone will be able to defend. I'm all for better defense than 18 but I'm thinking everyone making a 2-way is going to feel cheated when Non-defenders pick their pockets. The defense is simply over the top right now. As stated, i like good defense, i play good defense. But there needs to be a medium. There has to be balance. In no way am i advocating for lockdowns to lose their specialty, I'm hoping a bump down will INCREASE their worth.

I'm feeling like day 1 we'll have a lot of lockdowns and 2ways and then a week later we won't because anyone can play defense.

Man is mad he can't zig zag or push off 5 feet with the step back anymore lol. I love it.

I do NOT want to turn 19 into 18. But I'm telling you guys right now that the online community will drift away from defensive builds if everyone can play defense.

If you're a pure sharp with no defense in your build then you shouldnt win most of your battles on defense. Period. And i don't see that happening in 19 as of right now..

How can you than tell everyone defense needs to be toned down before you even play a match against someone in Pro-Am.

You played a demo that's probably set to pro and isn't even the day one patched game. This thread is ridiculous to have before the game is even out for anyone to play online.

I never said you're a bad player, but are you saying you're having a problem scoring on the defense? I agree with you from the standpoint that we should be able to tell the difference between elite defenders and guys who are not good defenders. All most of us are saying is let's wait and see when the game drops. I feel like defense is the best it's ever been now and if we nerf it, it's right back to the blow by cheese.

I’m really glad the majority of the community seems to call these posts ridiculous and they’re no longer taken too serious, this is what hurts the game every year

ALSO...can we take into account the new defensive controls and animations? Holding up on the stick no longer auto contests..you have to actually time your block..and there's no more of that landing on a player and getting a block, it's easy as hell to be pump faked into a foul...plus someone on reddit showed him taking a bad block attempt and literally falling on his butt..not to mention they seem to be punishing for bad reaches by making you lean out of position.

I'm not here to say if defense should or shouldn't be nerfed...but I am saying, you can AT LEAST play against live competition before you cry...and if you struggled to score in the prelude...chances are YOU probably suck and it has nothing to do with the defense at all...sorry.

Just played another 2ku session, and I’m actually finding the CPU defense to be pretty solid.

I’m not blowing by them every try, but am able to get around the weaker defenders easily enough. I went through a few possessions on each difficulty, and even on HOF, didn’t find myself being stonewalled really. The only issue I really had is that the CPU seems to be getting too many offensive boards, and still seems to be quicker to react on loose balls animation-wise.

I will say that I’m loving how much easier it is to set up a mismatch off of screens this year, and the auto-isolation afterwards is beautiful.

Yh man playing good D actually matters now and the new additions and animation are great. For example, they added something this yr where as a defender you can kinda get physical with your man and bump him back a bit while playing on ball. I remember getting a really good defensive play with it while using Klay on JR. He called for a pick in the corner and I cut him off real good to where he was stuck baseline and had to pick up his dribble. So while he was picking up his dribble, I pressed circle, bumped into him and knocked him out of bounds, forcing the turnover. Stuff like that being possible makes playing good so much more viable.
