The center and non-center settings were reversed last year aswell.

Smirkin- Is only the “hedge” setting reversed for both centers and all other positions? Or is the corresponding On-ball screen setting (go over/ under/ etc) for centers and all other positions reversed as well?

Impetuous- Since you’ve had more time with the game, have you seen the CPU platoon substitution issues from last year, or is the CPU substiting one and two players at a time?

Also, does the CPU use their timeouts appropriately?

Yep, right after making that statement of not seeing my 2 subsequent games had platoon subs.

After testing your settings I went back to "shrink the floor" with ACE OFF and it failed according to Scott's desription of how this scheme is deployed. The Under works everytime, but there is no hard hedge on any screen.

For now I'm just going to put it ACE on With Communications on and just enjoy the game. 3 years straight of bad defensive menus.

Impetuous- Try the “straight up” scheme. I believe some of those schemes override the manual defensive settings.

If this is still the case then, as much as I appreciate all the AI work done every year, there’s just no excuse for this. Why build features that users can’t really use? A year of glitches is one thing. Three years? That’s L.

I havent got my hands on 2K19 yet, and can't remember the over/under situation from 2K18 to be honest.

It’s a nice addition but I honestly wish the gamer was given actual control of the situation to determine (via button press) what he/she wants to do during pick and rolls.

This is actually......GOLD. I dont know why it wasnt suggested early--and yes, no defense in their right minds should surrender to the PNR whims of the offense, thats the whole friggin point, right? I'm just trying to see it:

We know it has to be fast so we quickly press L1 just like the offense and then the options come up? Like Switch, ICE, Trap and whatever else? I dig it man.

Are Randy Brown, Jason Caffey, Scott Burrell, and Byron Russell appearing on Classic Bulls and Classic Jazz? If they arent on the teams, I really need to scout for youtubes on player creation. The new CAP system is amazing this year.

I ran my defense out of 'Straight up' 90% of the time last year to deal with he overhelping and simplify coverage...hopefully its still there.

First I want to clarify one thing. When using individual def settings on for example LBJ - you are setting what kind of behaviour you want to see when LBJ (on opposing team) plays p&r.

If I were you I would have set go under or go over on LBJ, and manually control on-ball defender. In this case you can be absolutely sure that switch will not occure. You can still manually decide if you want to go over, or under the screen, and be sure that hedge defender will not try to switch causing unnecessary double team.

If you want to adjust your settings during the game - you just pause the game, go to def settings menu and change what you want.

There are also some presets made by 2k for example: "shrink the floor", "no threes" etc. These are nothing else that predefined def settings schemes for your team. You can change that on the fly I believe. I never use that, because I want full control over my defence, but maybe it will work for you if you don't want to pause the game so often

i'm completely confused. so the otf defensive adjustments such as shrink the floor only work properly if ace is enabled?

NO with it on, you get better results, but it doesn't always perform the scheme properly under/hard gap off ball. It's a crap shoot, it looks personnel driven instead of scheme driven.
