I'll further look into that, but don't you have to set it up each time before the game starts? Plus, sometimes I do want to switch but other times, I want to stay on-ball. Let's hypothetically use 50/50 rule. Can settings account for this or not really?

If not, that's why I think it would be nice to have an actual on-the-fly button to determine how you want to play the pick/roll during the game and whatever situation. Last minute fourth quarter, I can see switching was killing me the previous two position. Final last second possession, I see the same exact sequence and would like to stick to on-ball defense, unfortunately, I don't think fiddling with settings would allow for it, or can it?

Note: I've always played on default settings. The only setting that I've ever changed was bump difficulty to hall of fame.

You have option to set up "global settings" for all players, and "individual settings" for specific players.

That means you can use for example "switch" on p&r in general, but also specify that you want to "go over/under" on p&r played by LBJ.

Yes - you have to set this up before every game, BUT if you're my league player - you can do it in the gameplan menu before the game. I think it's easier that way.

@ataman5 .... is it the user out of sync with the coaches gameplan though? Can't situations change the original gameplan though?

As it stands in the Prelude, sometimes going under results in the 'double team' effect, sometimes going over results in the 'double team' effect. Gameplan doesn't always go according to plan and the players can sometimes/often recognize this in game. Pick/Roll switches all game long because that is the original gameplan by the coach. Curry gets hot, Lebron wants to now hound Curry. That's "deviating" from coaches gameplan because it's necessary at that point in time. LBJ is adjusting on the fly in the moment because it called for it.

But as I pointed out in my earlier response, sometimes there comes a point or multiple times during the game when I need LBJ to go "over" but I don't know exactly when. It changes possession to possession, or quarter to quarter. Can't exactly call a timeout on defense to make adjustments, right?

During the game, if "over" was killing me for two straight possession in the earlier 3rd quarter, and I see the same setup during the crucial moments during the final 2 minutes of the 4th quarter and I need LBJ to go "under," initial global setting can't really account for the need to deviate from the original gameplan.

Change setting results in a static (non-deviating) gameplan. But sports is sometimes about players adjusting on the fly because they're reading the situation.

... ultimately, which is why an on-the-fly button mechanic to adjust to pick/roll situation would be a welcomed addition. The original gameplan doesn't always fly. If the opposition decides to whip out something that is totally out of the ordinary, but i can recognize it, that throws a wrench into my original "settings"

First I want to clarify one thing. When using individual def settings on for example LBJ - you are setting what kind of behaviour you want to see when LBJ (on opposing team) plays p&r.

If I were you I would have set go under or go over on LBJ, and manually control on-ball defender. In this case you can be absolutely sure that switch will not occure. You can still manually decide if you want to go over, or under the screen, and be sure that hedge defender will not try to switch causing unnecessary double team.

If you want to adjust your settings during the game - you just pause the game, go to def settings menu and change what you want.

There are also some presets made by 2k for example: "shrink the floor", "no threes" etc. These are nothing else that predefined def settings schemes for your team. You can change that on the fly I believe. I never use that, because I want full control over my defence, but maybe it will work for you if you don't want to pause the game so often

Can you talk about the amount of fouls and points in the paint ?
Also is the cpu enough aggressive ? Do they drive to the basket with the appropriate players? Are they difficult to guard? Thanks

If you could check to see if the pick and roll settings work, that would be great. I believe there was a glitch with the standard P&R, and P&R Center.

You could try setting the global defensive settings (standard) to “Go Over” and “Hard Hedge”. And the defensive settings for P&R center to “Go Over” and “Catch Hedge”.

See how the players act with those settings.

I made the video, please tell me if I put the settings as you prescribed. According the the DefSet these things are not corresponding correctly. J McGee is hard hedging when he should be catching and non center are catching when they should be hedging hard. Now I will go back and test all the schemes because I only did Shrink, but shrink worked for the most part.

EDIT: Actually, is there (or did someone already mention) a setting to prevent those "otter porter defense" leaving the corner 3 wide open. That was still a major issue with 2k18 on default setting. I did see some of it making its way into 2k19.

Try Sam Pham's. It does help not 100% tho. However you loose rotation defense.

The center and non-center settings were reversed last year aswell.

Impetuous- Since you’ve had more time with the game, have you seen the CPU platoon substitution issues from last year, or is the CPU substiting one and two players at a time?

Also, does the CPU use their timeouts appropriately?
