    Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread

Progress bar is definitely better than last year. With HOF difficulty, I can get anywhere between 20-25k+ Mypoints after good games. Last year I would get 12-15K after 30-20 games. So there is definitely improvement.
I just still don't like the "random" cap upgrades. Why should I work harder just to get a upgrade to an attribute that won't help me. And don't like not knowing when I will get a cap upgrade to a key rating. Especially if it unlocks animations. This year, I noticed key ratings having stronger impact in OVR rating. Last year, it didn't matter at all. All that mattered was total number. I just got a cap upgrade to Stamina, pass, and Rebound. Since those aren't key ratings to my build, my Cap OVR is still 88. So it still might take 2-3 more cap breakers to have Cap OVR of 90

Someone tested it, OVR is merely based off how much vc you've spent.

Anybody heard of the badges glitch in cages?!
I mean my player is maxed out and I dont have any badges left to grind....
thats why i went to cages yesterday, because everybody wants to lose to get their badges up (glitch).
Best day to play cages....winning streak 30+ without challange just pure fun.

Makes sense. They want you to spend money on VC. Like now it takes over 2000 to bring up Mid Range from 63 to 64 for me

After 25 games, I am 80 OVR with 20 badges(7 maxed). Last 2 games I scored 20pts. I'm getting the hang of my custom jumpshot. So I'm scoring a overall good FG%. Hustle Rebounder helps, Rebound ratings seems to matter alot more this year this previous. Even with Silver HR, I still felt sluggish. But after boosting that rating to 70, I just had my career high, 13, and my second double double. I am playing better on offense. But defense is another story. I have "good" defensive games as far as blocks and steals. But I still seem to give up a lot of points to opposing PFs. Most of it is defensive laspes on my behalf. But I do feel like I'm caught in animations at times or pulled out of position or my teammates not committing to switches. I do see CPU making crazy shots on regular and making almost every shot on contested looks. Hopefully switching to lower difficulty next season helps.

Just got Defensive Stopper to Gold. I see it doesn't have affect on On Ball D rating this year like last year. It is still 73. Not sure if steal have an affect. Next I'm working on is Gold Rim Protector. Then Silver Pick and Pop

This is why I don’t get why people are complaining when if you really think about it, this year has been very generous in the amounts of vc we earn. Even if you play on HOF vs pro tbh there isn’t a major difference, even with the 2x teammate grade multiplier, on pro I still am able to get just about the same amount my friends gets and they all play HOF. Not saying there isn’t a difference but trust me there isn’t much of one when it comes to the difficulty and the rewards we get. I could be wrong here but I’m happy with the amount of vc we are able to earn. I can legit play 10 my career games and earn a hefty amount of vc

Thanks. I hadn't touched MC in more than a month. I do enjoy it for the change of pace and not being able to control everything. I don't "grind" in any game I play. I just play and typically I have enough currency or XP to progress well enough. I honestly don't see the issue many do with microtransactions and such. Either way, it's good they are awarding VC and stuff like this.

The Winter events are going to be a good time this year. I‘m doing well today. With the Reese’s event, Gold Rush, NBA Games, 2KTV Trivia, and Daily challenge made a good chunk of VC without even realizing it. Went from 15,000 to 29,000+!!

I played just over an hour.

                  Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread

So if you didn't see my thread the other day, i won the Championship with the mavs for my first out of 6 characters. I would usually get a good match up that i could feel justified simulating to see if my team really had what it took. I decided this character was going to be different and i was going to get Dirk one more ring before he retired. We beat the Bucks 4-1 as i played every game and only lost once in 17 games in the post season.

Sweeping The Warriors was my favorite part. I play on All-star as i believe it's the closest to being realistic as possible. I find that the CPU can still pose a threat when I'm playing the right team. Curry hung 40 a game on me in that series. LMFAO i felt that was plenty difficult to try and defend.

I think the craziest part about that series was how well Dirk was playing. He gave me MVP Dirk when he played the Dubs. He started that series averaging 18% from the floor! He was coming off the bench the first two series and wasn't getting too many minutes. But even without control over the line ups, Carlisle decided Dirk would get the nod in that series and the rest of the way.

He scored 20, 27, 33!!!, and 27 respectively in that series.

Deandre Jordan played out of his mind as well. He would body Cousins up the whole way, keeping him off the offensive glass for the most part. He had some very memorable blocks, too. It was really a great team effort in that series. Everyone kept getting off on the Dubs, too. We just out scored them in the paint.

I was averaging over 30ppg at point in the 2 previous series, against the Jazz and the Trail Blazers. I had good assist numbers in those games, over 8pg. I just felt i was having to do too much to beat those teams that in order to beat the Warriors i was going to have to change my game. I slowed down the offense, got into our sets, called a TON of post ups and pick and pops with Dirk and took advantage of his height over Green. It really was fun. I averaged around 28ppg and 14 assists against the Warriors. But Dirk was the MVP of that series. DSJ was huge off the bench as he had a 24point 1st half in game 3 against the a Warriors!

When we played Milwaukee in the Finals it was Dirk who drew the toughest assignment in Giannis.

He was getting BRUTALIZED let me tell you. But the MVP of that series was none other than DEANDRE JORDAN. Brooke Lopez had no answer for him. I remember shredding them in the pick and roll because Lopez was so slow on defense. I'd run a pick before crossing half court and just lob it to Jordan or see Luka or Matthews in the corner wide because they sent an extra defender to stop the roll. It truly was beautiful.

Speaking of Luka, i was disappointed i couldn't get him any higher than 17ppg in the playoffs. The flip side? Dude has shot nearly 60% all season and in the playoffs. Also averaging about 5assists and 5 rebounds with minimal turnovers. I couldn't have ever imagined a more efficient CPU running partner that is just a blast to play with.

I've played 3 different characters on this year's Mavs. First was PF, second was SG, but this last pg was my favorite. He's the same exact archetype as my SG but the badges (dimer, pnr maestro, lib city passer) all enhance the gameplay for me. I was getting GOOD assist numbers for a SG and i tried to spread the ball around, too. But being the initiator is so much better. DSJ just doesn't have the offensive awareness you would want every time down the court, and that's true IRL.

The best part about this whole thing? I didn't get the chance to set line ups till game 2 of the Finals.

Season 2 we re-signed DJ to a MASSIVE contract, but we're only 18 mill under the cap this season. I have to reach a 90 in my second season to ensure we keep DSJ (unless they trade him) but I'm going to really try to do what i said i would do with my SG. In season 2 I'm going to get Luka, DSJ and myself all in the 20s in PPG.

You find All-Star difficulty is the one to play with? I play on HoF just for the purpose of maxing badges and getting to 90 OVR. Once I get there, I am done with HOF difficulty. There is absolutely no margin of error. I'm tired of high CPU FG %. Where it feels like they barely miss shots when I'm on the floor and I need perfect timing to make shots consistently.

My main thing is that I want a challenge and at the same time enjoy playing career games. I don't want to put up 'video games' like it would on Pro. I just want CPU to shoot realistic a FG% and for me to not have put up crazy stats to win.

I have adjusted my gameplay to Superstar difficulty. So far I think it's a balance of reasonable CPU shot making and what I can get away with on the offensive end. It might be a bit too easy to get blocks on this setting though

Re Difficulty, for me it depends on how effective I am with my build.. I prefer Superstar with my PF Sharp•Rim-Protector but I'm horrible with my Shot•Sharp so I stick to Pro and All-Star with him because I'm not yet able to carry my team..

I have no problem getting blocks on Hall of Fame. I had 3-5 block games with my 6'8 PF with Silver Rim Protector and just 70 block. Blocks are overall easy to get.

I can see why you prefer Superstar for the build we have. Even on HoF, I'm starting to put up good numbers with the build. My main issue is that I give up big numbers every game because they make highly contested shots on regular.

On HoF, the takeover system and Gold Defensive Stopper doesn't feel like it does much since CPU doesn't miss many shots.

Just got to 81 OVR. I don't like how fast everything progresses in MyCareer. I am 10th All Star Voting for Forwards despite just averaging 12.5 pts, 7.6 rebs, 2.2 blocks, 1.1 steals. I'm at the point where I'm just playing rest of this season just to get to 90 OVR. I have my badges at a comfortable place for me. I just got Rim Protector to Gold and Quick Reflexes to Silver. There isn't a specific badge I want. I could go with Gold Brick Wall and/or Bruiser or go after Silver Catch & Shoot and or Pick & Pop. As far ratings go, I just did the initial max for rebound and Ball Handle. Ever since I got rebound to 70, my rebounding has gotten a lot better. I'm at 73 rebound(75 boxout) and have been getting 11-14 last few games. And even with me having to get my OVR up, there isn't a specific rating I want to boost that'll make my better substantially better. I could boost Steal(74) and Block(70) since they are still relatively cheap. But with Gold Rim Protector and Bronze Pick Pocket, I don't really have an issue getting steals and blocks. I could go for Mid Range so I could start working on Mid Range Deadeye, but Mid Range is so expensive. Over 2200 VC just to go up for 63 to 64. It would take over 10K VC to get to 68 Mid Range. I might start focusing on Stamina. I only got it to 80. Since I play about 32-33 minutes, I need to boost it. Especially since they have me playing 10-12 minutes in the 4th quarter. I would want to get it to 90 before I start working on Mid Range.

I didn't realize that you could request trade for some reason. It has me contemplating requesting a trade. My main reason I chose the Rockets was because of Gold Dimers of Harden and CP3(and HoF PnR Maestro). But this team isn't as I expected. Our bench/depth is terrible. Capela has been injured most of the season and Chriss just got injured. Besides Gordon, our bench is terrible. And Harden and Melo take too many bad shots with there 99 Shot Tendency. CP3 is the only thing I like about this team. We are in 12 or 13th place in West. So, I'm thinking about requesting a trade. The obvious choices could be 76ers and Blazers since they have needs at PF and I could slide into starting spots and be in playoff race. But, I'm considering requesting to Hornets. Only one player 80 and OVR. The main reason I'm considering that team, is that I want to lure Corey Harris and Marcus Young. Kemba is in last year of deal and social Media said he wants to test FA, so hopefully he doesn't resign. I was considering signing with this team in FA and requesting them trade for Young and Harris. But, if I go there now and work towards 90 before season is over and request Young and Harris as FAs and hopefully get them or at least one, I can save trade requests for Role players to put around us. I would be able to put up better stats with Hornets than Rockets simply because only Kemba to worry about. Only issue is that they have one of the lowest interest levels for me. But, I will still try.

We have to be careful complaining too much regarding leveling up quickly, because the previous years it was excruciating.

I’ve been playing steady since Thanksgiving; Prelude, 64 NBA games, and 25 playground games. I’ve recently cracked an 85 OVR.

I believe it was NBA 2K17 or 18; I’m ashamed, but I caved and bought 50.00 of VC, because I just couldn’t take the slow/tedious grind.

I explained this the other day when someone was talking about how fast it is to rep up this year and how everything is seemingly handed to us this year. I rather it be that way than struggle to make it to 90 in 2k18. At least 99 actually seems to be attainable if u put a little work in. Most of us that play this game I assume are adults that have been playing 2k for quite some time, like me since sega Dreamcast lol but I like how now this game doesn’t really force your hand to buy VC. I don’t really have the time to sit and grind except on weekends and even then I barely have the time.
