I watched the Raptors miss about 5 open shots in a row in game 1 against the Cavs this year, that are gimmies for any NBA player. I think what you should have done is wait a half more second, and maybe press RT and X for a dunk?
I saw Jonas Valanciunas strip John friggin Wall in the first round this year on the perimeter, where at the end of game 6, Wall blew by his man but came up short on a wide open layup, almost like he didn't realize how open he was and messed up the timing. How much stamina did you have at the time?
I agree some layups should go in, but I also find it's because i'm trying to do a 2k18 shot forgetting the layup directions are slightly different this year. Also keep in mind the game this year seems to really take into effect where the left stick is pointing more than the right stick. The right stick seems to choose what type of shot, the left stick seems to choose the direction of the shot, meaning if your not paying attention, you could me moving in an off-balance matter that would make a layup miss like that. I've done it in real life.
I find the right stick very dependent on direction for dunks, so RT and X seems a little easier for an open jam. There's alot of fineness to every mechanic this year that to me wasn't explained well, but for example, there's about 8 different speeds for defence this year.
normal, LT, RT, all with right stick for hands up, and LT + RT with and without the right stick. One thing that's a relief is I created a 2 way post scorer PF with 99 cap strength, and playing on park even in the 70s and as an 81....
no one can budge me, whether it's fighting for position, fighting for rebounds, or posting me up, i'm just pure concrete out there, despite being 6"8 and guys being 7"3 sometimes. I'm fast enough to keep up on the perimeter and challenge shots or getting strips, but I can also defend the post and take away oops and such, little weak on rebounding still without a C next to me. But i've taken down guys in the 90s with like 50-100+ wins already with random people because they can't just do their park cheese on me.
There's alot of problems, but I like how the game does reward basketball IQ, with the post fade I can still get a few buckets on rim protectors, had 2 and 1 post fades yesterday against one.
The best is finding a couple smart big guys as a PG, remember going against some 2k18 guys that won 8 in a row, my PG is also strong so I had really good perimeter defence because I could body guys up, but my bigs were smart and they couldn't get any easy looks like they normally could, but I know how to pass well and just fed them in transition while we just blew them out from the beginning, basically Dr. J and Porzingis, really really fun game. I didn't have to do anything fancy, just cut off drives, give it to them when they have an open lane, and if all else, pg's are usually pretty weak so I can post them up as a PG for an easy drop step or fadeaway.
What I hate is literally no one knows how little people know how to use the pick and roll. Instead they prefer to just pass it to me while I set a screen. At least this year you can answer cheese with IQ.
