Peak MJ vs Peak McGrady. These 2 great players matchup in this game, and it seems MJ had something to prove.

The Rockets got off to a terrific start, hitting their perimeter shots and 3's, and led by as much as 10 early. They go to the next period up 9. THe second quarter, it was the Bulls turn to be hot early, hitting a pair of 3's in their first 3 possessions, and stepping on the gas on transition. THey tied the game after a beautiful Jordanesque Ball-in-one-hand fake and hangtime by none other than its namesake, MJ. They continued to push the ball in transition in the end and go up by 6 going into halftime.

In the second half, the Rockets fought back led by Tracy McGrady, who started the quarter with a transition 3 and grabbed the lead with dunk shot with 3 mins gone by the quarter. THe Bulls immediately fought back, with a steal by Jordan on McGrady followed by a pass to Pippen on the break to tie the game. Jordan and McGrady then started trading baskets. Jordan got the better of Tracy towards the end of the quarter to lead the Bulls to a 5 point lead going into the 4th.

In the 4th quarter, the Bulls pulled away, with the bench leading the way. Jordan continued his dominance of his matchup with McGrady and was named Player of the Game. He finished with 36 pts 2 rebs and 12 assts. He also had 5 steals and 2 blocks. McGrady led Houston with 33 pts, 3 rebs 4 assts and 2 steals.

Here's a matchup with one of my favorite post-Jordan era teams that featured one of the best offensive and one of the best defensive players ever, Allen Iverson and Dikembe Mutombo

The Sixers had a fast start in their homecourt, ringing up an 8-0 lead in the first 2 minutes, forcing an early Bulls timeout. Bulls were able to regroup, forced some turnovers, and went on a 12-2 run to take the lead midway. Afterwards, it was the Sixers turn to regroup, and kept it close, trail the Bulls by 1 point after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Sixers kept it close early behind Allen Iverson. But the Bulls bench led by Kukoc, came out strong, and was able to pull ahead by as much as 12 points in the period. Iverson continued his hot streak towards the end of the quarter, however, while the Bulls started missing shots. Sixers fight back to trail only by 4 going into the half.

Jordan was taking advantage of his mismatches with the Sixers' smaller guards and had 21 points at the half. Iverson was not far behind with 18, 15 of which came in the second quarter.

The third quarter started well for the Bulls, with their defense leading to transition opportunities. THey go up by 10 early. Sixers defense tried to keep it close, but Jordan finished strong and the Bulls go up by 7 going into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Bulls broke loose, behind Pippen who also guarded Iverson here, as they went on a 17-6 run to start. THey go on to win huge 111-89.

Jordan was POG with 36 pts 11 assts 3 stls 1 blk. Pippen was strong all around with 25 pts 4 rebs 9 assts 4 blocks and 4 steals. Kukoc led the Bulls bench with 19. Rodman had 18 rebs.

Iverson could not get going in the second half, guarded my MJ and Pip, and finished with 26 pts on 11/29 shooting. He handed out 12 assists. Mutombo and Geiger were strong on the boards, including offensive, and had 15 and 10 rebs respectively.

The Bulls look to avenge their loss to these Lakers in LA as they matchup again in the United Center.

It was a close back and forth to start the game. Both turned the ball over multiple times here, but the Lakers took advantage of this more, scoring 10 pts off turnovers alone. Kobe had 14 pts in the quarter and the Lakers go up by 7 after one.

In the 2nd quarter, the Bulls went on an early 10-0 run to grab the lead. Shaq came back from the bench and rallied his team, leading a tough Lakers defense and muscled his way inside. The Lakers regain the lead and go up by 3 at the half.

Jordan led everyone with 23 pts at the half. Shaq had 12 pts and 8 rebs.

The third quarter started out the same as the first as both teams stay close. Jordan continued his hot 1st half and led the Bulls back to regain the lead midway. The Lakers continued to stay tough however, and stayed consistent defensively to keep it close. Bulls up by only 2 going into the fourth.

THe 4th quarter was interesting. The Lakers, behind strong play from Kobe and Shaq on both ends, regained the lead with 5 minutes to go. The Bulls would not go away easily however and tied the game with a little over 1 minute to go. As expected, it was a Kobe-Jordan show in the end as both players hit clutch shots. With the Lakers up by 2, Kobe hit a dagger three from way beyond the arc to put the Lakers up by 5. Jordan answered on the other end with a 3-point play. From then, it was a FT game as the Bulls ran out of time, and Lakers hit their FT's rest of the way to walk away with the win.


Shaq got POG honors as he filled the stat sheet with 24 pts, 13 rebs, 4 assts, 6 stls, and 3 blocks. Kobe closed the game out, however, as he scored 16 4th quarter pts to finish with 36 pts, while handing out 8 assists.

Jordan had 39 pts, 4 rebs, 8 assts, 3 stls, 1 blk, but had 9 TO's in this game. Pippen was strong with 26-6-7 but had 6 TOs of his own. Turnovers spelled the demise of the Bulls who had 24 in the game (compared to 15 for the Lakers) leading to 23 Laker points off TOs.

The Garnett-Cassell duo go toe to toe with Jordan-Pippen on this one.

Sam Cassell and Michael Jordan had strong starts to the first quarter. Cassell went 5/7 while MJ was 5/6 but it was MJ who had more support as the Bulls take a 5 point lead after one quarter. The Bulls continued to be hot in the second quarter, building a double digit lead early. Bulls went up as high as 13 in the period before Kevin Garnett led a late rally to cut the deficit to 6 going into halftime.

Jordan led everyone at the half with 18 pts, while Cassell led the Wolves with 12.

At the start of the 3rd quarter, the Timberwolves continued their charge, and tied the game at 55 all with a 3-pointer from Cassell. The Bulls started hitting their shots again to come back on top. Jordan caught fire, scoring 13 in the period and the Bulls built their lead up to 8. But a late burst from the Wolves cut that to just 4 going into the 4th. The Wolves kept it close while Jordan was at the bench and was trailing only by 2 with 5 mins to go. Jordan came back at that point and scored 7 straight points to put the Bulls ahead for good.

Jordan was POG and finished with 44 pts, 8 assts, 4 stls. Pippen also had 30 pts of his own. Kevin Garnett did all he can in this game, and had 41 pts 10rebs 5stls, while Cassell had 26 and 8 assts. MJ and Pip outduel Garrnet and Cassell 74-67.

Stockton-Malone take on Jordan-Pippen in this (almost) rematch of the '98 Finals.

This was a close game throughout. Neither teams could get much separation until the end of the game. Both superstars shined for their teams, and some supporting cast members also stood out - Kerr and Kukoc for the Bulls, and Anderson and Carr all had strong games.

Pippen was POG with 23 pts, 5 rebs, 11 assts, a sstl and 1 blk. Jordan led all scorers with 28. Malone finished with 24 pts 10 rebs. Stockton was strong with 19 pts and 8 assts.

'86 Celtics vs the '96 Bulls

The Bulls got off to a hot start and an early 12-2 lead, forcing turnovers and going on transition. Bird then got started with a three, and a layup in transition, and stayed hot, keeping the Celtics in the game. Jordan, however, also found his touch and continued to torch them in the period. The Celtics fall behind by only 2 after one.

Pippen took charge in the second quarter and kept the Bulls comfortably ahead. This included a nasty poster dunk on Larry Legend himself off the fastbreak.

Pippen had 20 pts at the half, to counter 20 pts from Larry Bird. Bulls lead 61-54 going into the half.

At the third, the Celtics were able to pull ahead with good inside and outside play. Dennis Johnson was connecting from medium range scoring 13 pts in the 3rd, while Parish got inside scoring position. Midway, Jordan got to work and led the Bulls back in the lead. THe Bulls lead by 2 going in to the fourth.

The start of the fourth quarter was all about Steve Kerr and Scottie Pippen. Kerr opened the quarter with a 3, and Pippen kept attacking Bird on offense. They go up by as much as 12. The Celtics, however, fight back, starting with a 5 consecutive points from Robert Parish, from a 3 point-play and a putback jam. Michael Jordan then came back from the bench and kept them at bay. Bird and Ainge tried to keep them in the game, cutting the lead into 4 with just a minute to go. But Jordan scored again on the next play to keep them ahead for good.

Bulls win, 121-112.

Jordan was POG with 47 pts, 8 assts, 4 stls, 1 block. Pippen added 29, 7 assts and 5 stls. Rodman had 15 rebs with 5 assts.

Larry Bird had a solid game with 34 pts, 8 rebs, 7 assts. Parish had 18 pts and 7 rebs. Dennis Johnson 15 pts and 10 assts.
