Re: '96 Bulls in a Classic Teams myLeague on 2K

OAKLAND -- Game 4 was a battle of wills, and an instant Double overtime NBA Finals Classic. It's probably one of the best games I've been able to play.

The first quarter started slow for the Bulls offensively, but defensively, this may be their best quarter yet. They had 8 steals in the quarter and 2 blocks. Ron Harper was shining here. After Curry dominated Game 2 and 3, he looked to lock him down, blocking him twice, forcing him to 2/7 shooting. Bulls go up by 9 in the 1st quarter, 32-24.

In the second quarter, the Bulls turned cold, and the Warriors would go on a 7-0 run to trim the lead to 1. Bulls would regroup and the Warriors started missing even open shots. The Bulls lead for the rest of the quarter, taking a 6 point lead into the half, 54-46.

Jordan led everyone with 21 pts and 7 assts at the half. Warriors were held to 41% FG shooting.

The Warriors shooting continued to be poor in the 3rd quarter. The Bulls meantime, grew their lead to double digits behind Jordan who continued to kill it in the post. But the Warriors can get hot fast and score fast, and thats exactly what they did in the last 2 minutes of the quarter, as Durant, Curry, and Thompson all hitting their shots, and the lead is cut to just 2, 77-75 at the start of the 4th quarter.
    a
IN the 4th quarter, the Bulls started out with 3-pointers from Kukoc and Kerr. But the Warriors would respond with a 3 pointer and 3-pt play of their own. What would follow is a exhibition of marksmanship by two teams that would not give an inch to the opposing squad. It would be back and forth for most of the quarter, with several lead changes.

The game was tied at 108-108 after Ron Harper made 1 of 2 FT's with 39 secs to go. Curry would quickly score in the ensuing posesstion to put them ahead, but the Bulls would tie it again off a dunk from Luc Longley after another double team on Jordan. THe Warriors would get the last play with 19 secs to go. Curry and Durant could not get a shot up with the Bulls D, and Draymond would miss a layup at the buzzer after some tight coverage by the 7-ft Longley.

    Game goes into overtime. 110-110.

In overtime, Harper would miss another FT to begin the extra period, then Thompson would score on the next play followed by a long 3-pointer by Curry to bring the Warriors up by 4. But Jordan would again respond, and getting a 3pt play, steal and a dunk in succession to bring them up by 3. THe Bulls would play great defense on the other end and kept the Warriors from scoring, and after breakaway dunk by Pippen put them up by 7 with 34 secs to go, it seemed the Bulls were on its way to taking a 3-1 lead.

But never underestimate the potent scoring power of the Warriors. 7 point deficit. 34 secs. In the Oracle arena. THey can.

It started with a 3 pt play for Kevin DUrant on the next play. It was a 4 pt deficit with 27 secs to go. On the next play, Rodman would turn it over on the inbounds pass. Durant would again score in just 5 secs on the next play to cut it to 2. Harper would then get fouled. Harper would (again) only make 1 of 2 FT's. It was a 3 pt lead with 19 secs to go. Durant again would score on a quick jumper with 14 secs left. The Bulls would make sure Kerr was the player fouled in the next play, and he would make both FT's to make it a 3 pt lead with 13.4 secs to go.

The next play would be crazy. Warriors run it up the floor, and Klay THomspon would miss a 3 pt attempt with 6.8 secs to go. Rodman would grab the rebound but would lose the ball to Draymond Green, who would give it in the box to Durant who then found an open Jerebko in the corner who scores the game-tying 3-pointer!

    Second overtime! 127-127

In the second overtime, the Warriors started out cold, while the Bulls were able to put the first 7 points on the board. After a layup by Durant, Green would convert on a 3 pt play with 1:48 to go to cut the deficit to 4. Green remained aggressive and got fouled by Pippen on their next play. It would be PIppen's 6th foul. He would covert 2 FT's to cut the deficit to 2 with 1:23 remaining. Kukoc however would hit a BIG 3-pointer on the next play to pad their lead to 5. Durant with answer to cut the lead again to 3. THe Warriors would step up the D on the Bulls next possession and get a steal with 35 secs to go. THey rushed the next possession however, as THompson shot a forced 3 in the corner and missed.

It's still a 3 pt lead with 23 secs left in 2OT. Michael Jordan would then put the dagger with a tough fadeaway jumper over Klay Thomspon's outstretched arms from 20 feet away with just 5.2 secs left to up the lead to 5 and seal the victory for the Bulls.

Re: '96 Bulls in a Classic Teams myLeague on 2K

CHICAGO -- After a hard loss in double overtime in Game 4, the Warriors try to extend the series in Game 5. Durant and co. would answer the call, and Michael Jordan tried to win this lal by himself.

The Warriors did in the first quarter exactly what they needed to do to win this game. Dominate early, and quiet the crowd. Kevin Durant was unstoppable, moving without the ball, scoring 14 first quarter points. The Bulls strugled, and they trail 32-18 after one.

In the second quarter, Kerr and Kukoc would come in and help nibble at the lead with some outside shooting. But the second quarter was the Steph Curry show. He would hit 4 3-pointers, scoring 16 pts in the quarter to keep the Warriors ahead by 9 going in to the half, 59-50.

Durant led all scorers with 21 pts at the half. Jordan had 18 pts with 5 assists.

In the third, the Warriors maintained their intensity on both sides. Jordan tried to fight them on his own, erupting for 25 pts in the 3rd. He clearly wanted to finish the series here at home. But the Warriors offense was at full strength, scoring 34 pts in the period on 74% shooting. Not even a one-man show named Jordan can match this deep team. Lead is 11, 93-82 going into the 4th.

In the 4th quarter, the Warriors continued to press the action. Jordan continued to fight thru, as well as Toni Kukoc. But the rest of the team was just lackluster the whole game. The closest they would get was 7, but everytime they close in on the gap, the Warriors would hit big perimeter shots. The Warriors would run away with this one, 126-109.

POG: Kevin Durant. 36 pts, 8 rebs, 6 assts, 6/8 from 3PT. Steph Curry added 27 pts and 11 assts. 5 players were in double figures. Cousins was dominant with 16 pts and 19 rebs.

The Warriors hit 17/33 3PT in this game, a whopping 52% clip, and was an even more impressive 63% overall from the field.

Jordan indeed tried to carry this team by himself, but that would not work against a team as potent as the Warriors. He finished with a game-high 50 pts and 10 assts. Kukoc added 21 and Pippen 19.

The Bulls waste an opportunity to win the Championship on their homecourt here and now have to travel back to Oakland to try to winthis in 6. If they don't, they may be going back to CHicago to try to win this in 7, but with the momentum the Warriors built in this huge Game 5 win, that would be a scary scenario going home.

Michael Jordan has never had to go to a game 7 to win a championship. We'll see, as the series shifts back to Oakland for Game 6.

Re: '96 Bulls in a Classic Teams myLeague on 2K

OAKLAND -- The Warriors try to ride the momentum from their Game 5 win, and try to extend the series with the home fans at their backs. On the other hand, Michael Jordan has never lost a Game 6 in the Finals, and never had to go to a Game 7, so the Bulls have some history on their side.

The first quarter started slow, a pace favorable to the Bulls. The first basket was not scored until 2 minutes in - a fadeaway by Jordan over Thompson. It was a common formula for the Bulls in this series, starting with defense, and starring Jordan on offense, who would have 16 first quarter pts. Durant, however, would catch fire in the last 2 minutes, scoring 9 pts late, and the Warriors are up by 4, 26-22.

In the second quarter, Kevin Durant continued with his hot streak early, scoring 14 more points in the period. He would later cool down however. THe Bulls would then make a tactical adjustment, matching up Pippen on Curry as Jordan takes a rest. He would kill Steph Curry in the post, and he would score 16 pts in this period. The Bulls would take a 4 pt lead halfway on a steal and dunk by Scottie, forcing a quick Warriors timeout. The Warriors would bounce back and reclaim the lead after a shot from Durant and a 3 for THompson, forcing the Bulls to call for their own timeout. THe Warriors would go in to the half up by 3, 56-53.

Durant leads the pack with 23 pts. Jordan answered with 20 pts of his own.

The third quarter saw the Warriors lead grow to 6. The Bulls tightened up defensively, and Jordan started to go to work, reclaiming the lead after another 3-pt play on Klay THompson with 7:27 to go. It would be back and forth again, and both benches this time providing the lift. Most of the Warriors starters came back at the end of the quarter led a Warriors rally, and they maintain a 2 pt lead going in to the last quarter.

Three quarters down, one more to go for the Warriors. It was now or never.

Cousins answered the call to begin the 4th quarter. He was attacking the basket and was being aggressive on the block. But Pippen was again matched up with Curry, and he again attacked him in the post, to help balance out Cousins offense. Kukoc also conitnued to provde the lift off the bench. Another back and forth affair ensued. Michael Jordan went back in with 8 and half minutes remaining and asserted himself offensively, helping the Bulls to a 5 point lead with 5 minutes to go. But the Bulls were in penalty early and this helped the Warriors tremendously in the end game. Jordan, however, remained aggressive, scoring a total of 14 pts in the period and seemingly willing this series to end. The Bulls defense also went up a notch in the final minutes of the game, causing costly steals. None of the Warriors stars could get into a rhythm and they would fall to match the Bulls onslaught. THe final hammer came with an emphatic alley-oop slam from Pippen to Jordan with 21 secs to go, upping their lead to 10.

        THe Bulls win it, 117-107.

POG: None other than Michael Jordan who had 49 pts, 4 rebs, 10 assts and 3 stls. Pippen came up big this game and made up for a dismal Game 5, being the second anchor on offense with 27 pts. He also had 6 assts and 3 stls. Kukoc again had a strong game off the bench with 17 pts, 4/7 from 3. Rodman had a big game on the boards with 17 rebs.

Durant finished with 30 pts , Klay Thompson had 20. Curry struggled once again against the Bulls D, finishing with 17 pts on 5/17 shooting. He did dish out 14 assts.

FIrst game of the new season (now using 2K20) is against the '96 Supersonics, quite possibly the best Seattle team of all time.

THe Bulls quickly dispatched of this one. No one aide from Kemp was playing wel for the SOnics.

Jordan finished with 33 pts, 7 assts, 6 stls. Pippen had 21-6-7.

Kemp finished with 26 pts and 14 rebs. Payton struggled with 14 pts on 5/18 shooting, 8 assts.

It was the '71 Lakers who were first known for their ball stopping defense and fastbreak, but it was the Bulls who was the faster and bigger team who employed the fastbreak more.

Wilt Chamberlain aside, the Bulls were just too fast and too long for the Lakers and they could not get it going offensively.

            It was a one-sided affair.

Jordan had 35 pts 3 rebs, 5 assts , 2 stls and a blk. Pippen added 26 pts and 7 assts.

WIlt CHamberlain had 22 pts and 22 rebs. Jerry West struggled and only had 10 pts on 4-15 shooting. He struggled to score against the bigger longer Harper.

CLEVELAND -- Its Pip vs LeBron. Kyrie vs Jordan.

This game started out a very defensive game and the Bulls defense was on display. They limited the Cavs to 35 first half points.

But in the second half, it was Kyrie Irving who broke out. He would score 24 second half points and led the Cavs back. Tristan Thompson was also a monster on the offensive glass, and the Cavs lead by as much as 12 late in the 4th. THe Bulls would cut the lead to 6, but ran out of time, and the Cavs win by 7.

POG: Kyrie Irving. 37 pts 5 assts. Lebron had 18 pts 4 rebs, 6 assts, 6 stls 1 blk. Both Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson contributed identical 10 pts and 13 rebs.

Jordan was the only Bulls scoring here. He finished with a game high 55. Pippen had 17 pts and 12 assts. Longley had 10. Rodman had 16 boards.

                A great competitive game.

                https://youtu.be/prfHqz8G_U8

Bulls were in command for the most part of the game. In the 4th quarter however, Blazer Pippen started to get going, faciltitaing, defending, while Steve Smith hit some big clutch down the stretch, to lead the Blazers to victory.

POG: Jordan - 34 pts, 5 rebs, 8 assts 2 stls 1 blk. Bulls Pippen struggled from the field 8/20, finished with 17 pts, 6 rebs 4 assts 3 stls.

Pippen led the BLazers with 23 pts 5 rebs 4 assts 3 stls and 1 blk. 5 players finished in double figures. Sabonis had a triple double with 13 pts, 12 rebs and 10 blks.

AUBURN HILLS -- The Bad Boys meet the '96 Bulls.

                  https://youtu.be/fcZBhntx0OI

THe Bulls got off to a fast start. It remained a low scoring affair, Tto be expected in a game between 2 defensive powerhouses. Bulls led by 8, 24-16 after the first period, and grew their lead to as much as 14 in the 2nd. However, Joe Dumars would get hot and the Bulls started turning the ball over and the Pistons chop away at the lead. They eventually take a lead on a 3-pointer from Laimbeer with 1:33 to go and lead by 3 going into the half.

Game remained close in the 3rd and 4th quarter, with a lot of back and forth.

Game was tied with 30 minutes to go. With a chance to win it, Vinnie Johnson got fouled by Michael Jordan with 2.5 secs to go and the Pistons would go up by 2. Michael Jordan would miss the game tying shot as the buzzer sounded and the Pistons escape with a 98-96 victory at the Palace.

Another low scoring affair, another defensive performance from the Bulls.

                    https://youtu.be/unOk0DlNllg

Oscar Robertson and Abdul-Jabbar could not really get anything going and the Bulls run away with a 20+ point lead for the rest of the second half.

Jordan was POG with 33 pts 5 rebs 8 assts. Pippen added 20-3-6. Rodman grabbed 19 rebs here

Abdul-Jabbar had 21 pts and 21 rebs while Oscar Robertson finished with 25 pts 4 assts on 11/27 shooting.

SAN ANTONIO --- Kawhi and Duncan face Jordan and the Bulls for the first time.

                      https://youtu.be/cUzjXK1apWI

Another slow start for both teams. Jordan did have a strong first quarter, scoring 12, and the Bulls go up 23-18 after one quarter.

In the second, the Bulls continued theIir quiet execution and led by as much as 9. Leonard stepped up his D on Jordan, however, and the Spurs got going, cutting it to 2. THe Bulls made a late run and go up by 6 goin into the half.

In the 3rd quarter, the defense of the Spurs picked up and Kawhi socred 13 in the period, and the Spurs cut the deficit into 2 going into the 4th.

In the 4th quarter, the Bulls struggled early on, and the Spurs took advantage. They take a 3 pt lead after a 3 from Danny Green with less than 10 mins to go. The Bulls however went into a 14-4 run, led by their bench and Toni Kukoc, to take a 7 pt lead with less than 5 to go. Toni Parker then led the Spurs back and cut the lead to 2 with less than 2 mins to go.

Tim Duncan would then score a game tying turnaround jumper over Ron Harper after a switch from a pick-and-roll. Duncan would then block Pippen's shot on the next play and then end with a dunk on the break on the other end to grab a 2 pt lead.

WIth 22 secs to go, the Bulls had the chance to tie it or win it. After an immediate double team on Jordan, ball found its way to Pippen's hands who was left open for a 3 from the corner... but missed.

Spurs escape with this one. 96-95.

Kawhi Leonard finished with 27 pts 9 rebs 4 assts. Parker had 22, and Duncan had 18pts with 12 boards.

Jordan had 35 pts, 6 rebs 7 assts. Pippen had 17 pts but struggled on 5-14 shooting. Longley had 14, Rodman had 14 rebs.

Interesting matchup, with lots of highlights, but was not quite as interesting a game. It was lopsided for the Bulls. Winning by 37.

Bulls stiffled the Raptors in this one, forcing them to 31% FG shooting, and demolished them on the break, scoring 34 fastbreak points.

                        Jordan had 36 pts 7 assts, 2 stls. Pippen had 28 pts 11 assts.Rodman had 23 rebs.

Vince Carter finished with 29 pts 6 rebs 3 assts. Tracy struggled with 16 pts, on 7-18 shooting.

OAKLAND -- The first Warriors team that hit the mainstream was the Run TMC Warriors with Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullin.

                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fA1dAQPN88

THe Bulls rolled over this team however. Defensively locked them down.

Richmond managed 25 pts for the Warriors here but the rest never got going. Mullins was next with 10 pts. Tim Hardaway had a horrible game finished with 6 pts on 3-19 shooting.

Jordan was POG with 33 pts 6 rebs 9 assts 4 stls. Pippen had 24 while Rodman had a monster game, the best of the season so far. He had 23 rebs with 16 pts.

CHICAGO --- Another 90s all time great teams comes to visit Michael and the Bulls at the United Center. CLyde Drexler was my #2 favorite SG of all time, and I always relish matchups with him.

CHICAGO -- Jason Kidd and the Nets pay a visit to the Bulls for the first time this season.

This was a tight game thru 3 quarters, as they entered the 4th tied at 70. Jason Kidd was fabulous in this game, dictating the tempo and being aggressive on offense. He already had 20 pts thru 3 while Jordan was also his usual self with 29 going in to the 4th quarter.

In the 4th quarter, the Bulls defense tightened up and they go up by as much as 5 in the period. Jason Kidd however kept being aggressive and led the Nets back and tied the game with a 3-pointer with over 3 minutes to go. The Bulls also suddenly got cold, went scoreless in a 5 minute stretch. Nets lead balloon to 7 with 2 minutes to go.

THe Bulls then rallied, starting with consecutive 3-pt plays from Pippen and Jordan (Pippen missed his FT though). On the next play, Pippen got fouled on a cutting drive and this time made both FTs to tie the game with 56 secs left. Pippen then took on Jason Kidd on D, and shut him down the rest of the way. Jordan drove on the next play and passed to an open Rodman for the winning dunk. Nets had a chance with 22 secs remaining, but Jason Kidd missed a 3-pointer and the Bulls complete the comeback to win it, 93-91.

POG was Jason Kidd who had 31 pts, 3 rebs, 6 assts, 5 stls.

Jordan finished with 36 pts 5 rebs and 10 assts. Pippen added 20. Rodman continued a strong board game with 17 rebs.
