Re: '96 Bulls in a Classic Teams myLeague on 2K

CHICAGO -- LeBron's Lakers matchup with the Bulls for the first time this season, and what began as a lopsided game, turned out to be an instant NBA Classic.

The Bulls got up early on the Lakers in the first quarter. Their execution was perfect, and led 32-18. The Bulls continued their perfect play in the 2nd and led by as much as 22. Lebron and AD started to hit shots late, but the lead was still 19 going into the half.

The Bulls shot a whopping 61% from the field in the first half. They also held the Lakers to 38% shooting. Jordan had 24 first half points.

In the 3rd quarter, Lebron and AD continued their momentum from the 2nd quarter, while the Bulls started missing. Davis would score 15 pts, while Lebron had 8 and dished out 6 dimes in the period. Jordan was the only one working offensively here for the Bulls, had 15 pts in the 3rd. No one else aside from Pippen (who had 5), would score for the Bulls in the 3rd.

The lead is down to 9 going into the 4th, 77-68.

Lebron came into the 4th in attack mode and it carried over to the rest of the team. They went on a 10-1 run to start and tied the game at 78 in the first 3 minutes of the quarter. The Lakers then took their first lead of the game after a reverse 3-pt play, where Howard followed up on a missed James FT. The Bulls continued to be cold, and turned the ball over a few times, and the Lakers completed a 19-3 run, to take command of the game with a 7 pt lead, 87-80,

The Bulls, however, did not fold. Michael Jordan came back from a brief rest in the bench, and led the Bulls on their own rally. And it all started with Defense. Bulls regained a 2 pt lead going into the last 2 minutes of the game. James would continue to respond for the Lakers, and scored on a 3-pointer to regain the lead by 1 with 1:50 remaining.

The pivotal play of the game was at the 1:30 mark. Bulls were hanging on to a 1 point lead. James had the ball on a pick and roll. He drove and threw a beautiful alley-oop pass to AD (a play they've run a million times). However, Pippen, with his long wingspan, was able to interfere the alley-oop pass from behind AD, and then Rodman grabbed the loose ball. On the next play, Jordan would drive baseline and did one of his most Jordaneesque moves - a switch of hands in mid air to avoid the long outstretched arms of McGee. He would score and put the Bulls lead back up to 3. It was a pivotal 4 pt swing in the game.

James would continue to fight thru the end, but the Bulls made enough free throws in the end to earn the W.

Michael Jordan scored 53 pts in this game, with 5 assts, 2 stls 1 blk. Pippen added 21 pts ,10 assists, 4 stls and 1 blk. Rodman had an unusual double double with 15 rebs and 11 assts.

LeBron was crowned POG and filled the stat sheet with 32 pts 6 rebs 13 assts 6 stls 1 blk. Anthony Davis finished with 28 pts and 7 rebs

MIAMI --- Its Shaq-Wade hosting Jordan and the Bulls.

Bulls had a sluggish start, but thankfully Jordan had a hot first quarter, scoring 14 pts. But Shaq and Wade dominated early, with Shaq scoring 12 and Wade 10. It's a 1 pt lead 24-23.

THe Heat continued their solid play on both ends while the Bulls, except for Jordan, conitnued to struggle. The Heat go up by nine going into the half, 52-43.

THe Bulls started to find their touch in the 3rd, but Heat continued to play solid. Lead down to 7 going into the 4th.

The Heat built their lead up to 11 early in the fourth. THe Bulls perimeter game started clicking, with Kukoc catching fire, scoring 10, Kerr contributing as well. THey would cut away at the lead, and by the time Jordan came back from the bench, they were ready to make their charge. It was a tied game 105-105 at 2:24 mark. Dwyane Wade however committed his sixth foul and fouled out.

Bulls were clinging to a 1 pt lead when Jordan missed a fadeaway with 25 secs to go. On the next possession, the Heat would miss, but Haslem would grab the offensive rebound, and passed the ball to a driving ANtoine Walker, who would score and get fouled! He would convert the FT to put the Heat up by 2 with 13 secs to go.

IT was Jordan time with 13 secs to. He had Posey on him on the post, and he made a baseline drive and layed it up as the clock expired. AN official review was done and it was a good basket.

      Game goes to OT.

In overtime, Steve Kerr stepped up big to keep the Bulls in the lead. Heat kept fighting however. With the Heat leading, Jordan would make another huge inside move to put the Bulls up 121-120 with 27 secs to go. THe Heat would miss a three on the end, and the Bulls escape with the win.

POG: Shaq had a monster game. 43 pts, 24 rebs. 2 stls, 3 blks. Wade had 25, but fouled out late in the 4th.

Jordan would counter SHaq with 45 pts, 8 rebs 7 assts 5 stls. Pippen added 25-6-9. Kukoc finished with 16, Kerr with 14.

CHICAGO -- Kawhi and PG battle Michael and Scottie in this matchup of great two-way players and two-way teams.

Clippers was completely shut down and overmatched in the 1st, scoring just 9 pts, trailed by 13, 22-9. Their defense tightened up in the 2nd, but still trailed 44-35 going into the half.

Clippers shot only 31% in the first half.

In the 2nd half, the CLippers were a completely different team, and Paul George was a completely different player. Clippers started hitting their shots and Bulls started to get cold. They end up tied at 69 going into the 4th quarter.

In the 4th quarter, the Clippers seemed to poised to upset the Bulls on their homecourt and led by as much as 11 with less than 5 mins to go. The Bulls made a furious rally, going on a 12-2 run to close the gap to one, and would retake the lead 93-92 on a cut by Pippen. Kawhi however made huge plays on both ends to help the Clippers escape with a 95-93 victory.

CHICAGO -- Bulls try to avenge their loss at San Antonio earlier this season, and had to overcome Parker's 31 pts and overtime to do it.

First quarter saw Michael Jordan and Tim Duncan exerting their dominance. Tim Duncan was active on D and the boards, but went into early foul trouble. Bulls lead 29-24 after one.

Duncan continued to suffer from foul trouble in the 2nd, already with 4 before the half, but Parker started carrying the team here. The Spurs bench also played big and hit their perimeter shots. It remained close, and it was 55-54 for the Spurs at the half.

Parker led the team with 15 pts at the half. Jordan conitnued his hot streak the last few games and had 25. He also was effective passing the ball with 6 assists.

In the 3rd, Duncan continued to struggle with fouls as Bulls kept attacking the lane. He committed his 5th foul with less than 2 minutes into the 3rd. With Bulls threatening to run away with the game, he was sent back in late in the 3rd, but could not contain it, and eventually fouled out with 3 minutes left in the 3rd.

After Duncan fouled out early, one would think the Bulls would just run them over. No, the Spurs rallied behind Parker. and Kawhi Leonard started picking it up on both ends. The Spurs even took a 7 pt lead going into the 4th.

The Bulls had to battle back against this gritty San Antonio team who still led by 7 with 7 minutes remaining. The Bulls reclaim the lead with 4 minutes to go 99-98, but Spurs continued to fight back. Danny Green would hit a game-tying triple with 7 secs remaining in regulation and they go into overtime.

In overtime, the Spurs continued their spirited play without Duncan, with strong play from their supporting cast, Green, Mills. THey held a 2 pt lead with less than a minute left. Then of all people, Luc Longley would hit a 10 footer to tie the game with 38 secs left. After a missed 3 from Green on the next play, Jordan would get fouled on the other end with 17 secs left and hit his 2 FT's. Tony Parker had the ball in his hands in the final seconds, and opted to shoot a 3 as time expired, which he missed.

Bulls escape with the win, 122-120.

Jordan had a triple double with 37 pts 11 rebs 14 assts 1 stl 1 blk. Pippen added 28 pts 5 rebs 9 assts. Harper added 17 whil playing solid D in the end on Parker. Rodman had a rare double-double with 10 pts and 13 rebs.

Parker led the Spurs with 31 pts and 8 assts, but was a non-factor in OT. Danny Green came up big in Duncan's absence with 23. Kawhi was solid all around with 21 pts, 12 rebs, 7 assts, 5 stls and a block. Duncan had 14 pts and 9 rebs before fouling out in the 3rd.

Early on, Rockets struggled and Yao Ming went into early foul trouble. Dikembee Mutombo though more than made up for Yao's absence and played a strong defensive game. THe Bulls defense though was sharp, forsing turnovers converting them to transition baskets. Its 27-18 for the Bulls after one.

The Rockets supporting cast played huge in the 2nd quarter with their stars struggling. THey actually caught up with the Bulls and took a brief lead. Jordan and Pippen would finish the quarter strong and the game is tied at the half 49-49.

In the 3rd quarter, Jordan and Pippen just dominated, clogging the passing lanes, coming up with steals and going on breakaway slams. Most notable of which was a FT line dunk by Jordan. He was just unstoppable here, leading the Bulls to a 15 pt lead going into the 4th, including a half court weave that went in as the quarter ended.

In the 4th quarter, the lead would balloom to 20, but the Rockets made a rally, going on a 15-5 run to make it a 10 pt lead with 3 mins to go. Jordan however, with his killer instinct, made sure to keep them away, including a two-handed dunk over Yao Ming, and the Bulls win 103-94.

Jordan finished with 51 pts. Pippen added 31. ROdman had 16 boards and 6 assts.

Yao led Houston with 23 pts and 10 rebs. McGrady could not get going all game, scoring in spurts, finished with 17 pts on 8/18 shooting.

CHICAGO -- Larry Legend faces the '96 Bulls for the first time this season.

In the first quarter, the Bulls defense kept the Celtics in check as the build a double digit lead, and go into the 2nd, 30-18.

In the 2nd, the Celtics went on a 14-6 run to cut into the lead to as much as 4. Jordan hit a 3 as the buzzer sounded, and increased the lead to 9 going into the half.

Jordan kept his strong play and had 24 at the break. Larry Bird was struggling, 3/10 from the field. Bill Walton was the top man for Boston, coming off the bench with 12 pts and 5 rebs.

The Bulls continued to dominate in the 3rd, growing their lead to 18 at the end of the 3rd, 76-58.

The Celtics would make a run to start the 4th with grit, hustle on the offfensive glass and Larry Bird. They started on a quick 12-2 run. Pippen would attack Bird on offense with some success. Jordan came back to finish the Celtics off, with the Bulls taking the W. 100-93.

Jordan finished with 40 pts and 10 assts. Pippen added 26 pts, 5 rebs 5 assts. Rodman had a double-double with 17 rebs and 10 assts.

Bird led the Celtics with 22 pts, 7 rebs 3 assts. Parish and Walton finished both with double-doubles, as the Bulls struggled to keep them off the offensive glass. The Chief had 18 pts and 17 rebs, Walton 17 pts and 10.

Re: '96 Bulls in a Classic Teams myLeague on 2K

CHICAGO -- After a slow first half, Lebron and AD carried the Lakers against Jordan's Bulls.

In the 1st quarter, Jordan was quite unstoppable. The Lakers offense was clicking too, with Rondo doing well piloting their offense. Both teams shot well, and its a high scoring first quarter with the Bulls up 35-31.

In the second, Lakers started to cool off, as the Bull take a 9 pts lead going into the half 64-55.

THe Lakers began their surge in the 3rd, with strong play from LeBron as well as Cousins off the bench. They cut the lead into 3 with under 2 minutes left. Kukoc made 2 late baskets to bring the lead up back to 7, 88-81 going into the fourth.

Lebron opened the 4th quarter with a thunderous and-1 dunk over Scottie Pippen. The Bulls also went cold from the field in a 2 minute span and the Lakers were able to cut further into the Bulls lead. They finally are able to tie the game at 103 with 3 and 1/2 minutes to go. They would later on take the lead on a long jumper from AD with 2mins to go. The Bulls would make costly turnovers in the end and the Lakers run away with the win, 117-111.

CHICAGO -- Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning visit Chicago and try to muscle their way thru Jordan and the Bulls.

The Bulls defense was stiffling, however, leading by 9 after one and led by double digits thru most of the game.

In the 4th quarter, however, the Bulls got too relaxed, and the Hornets started making their perimeter shots. They were able to cut the lead down to single digits. They were down by only 3 with 20 secs to go. The Bulls would hit enough free throws, however, to secure the win.

                  Its' Chicago, 114-106.

Jordan was POG with 34 pts, 3 rebs 8 assts, 2 stls and 1 blk. Pippen added 25 pts 4 rebs 8 assts.

Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mouring combined for 62 pts (32 and 30 respectively). Mourning grabbed 19 boards. Gill added 14.

CHICAGO -- The Bulls get tested by Hakeem Olajuwon's Rockets. Olajuwon was unstoppable, but Jordan was also up to the challenge.

Hakeem established himself early, scoring 18 pts in the first quarter, as the Bulls struggled to find someone to matchup with him. Jordan was also productive but focused mainly on distrinbuting the ball. Its a close on 29-28 Bulls after 1Q.

It remained close in the 2nd, with Bulls going up by 3 going into halftime 64-61.

Hakeem had 27 pts and 11 rebs already at the half. Jordan countered with 25.

THe 3rd quarter saw both teams continuing to shoot well. Lead remained at 3 going into the 4th, 91-88.

The 4th quarter was even closer, with the game tied several times in the last 6 minutes. Bulls were clinging to a 3 pt lead in the last 2 minutes, as Hakeem and Jordan exchanged baskets. The Rockets failed to convert on perimeter shots, and the Bulls hang on to win, 118-114.

Hakeem finished with 54 pts, 25 rebs, 7 blks.

Jordan countered Hakeem's monster game with 46 pts, 9 assts, 3 stls. Pippen added 24 pts 6 rebs, 8 assts. There were 3 other Bulls in double figures, including Kukoc with 12.

For 3 and a half quarters, the game followed the script of '96 Bulls brilliance - intense defensive pressure that limited the Clippers potent offense combined with Michael Jordan's Offensive prowess.

But in the second half of the the 4th quarter, the Clippers made a furious rally, led by Paul Goerge who was silent in the 1st 3 quarters. Then Kawhi Leonard completely took over in the clutch.

It was tied at 85 with 1:45 to go to setup a clutch duel between Michael Jordan and Kawhi Leonard. It is a nailbiter to the last second.

OAKLAND -- It's the battle of 70-win teams. The title of the GOAT may be at stake.

                        https://youtu.be/J9hkhAx8t6Q

For the first 3 quarters, the Warriors stayed ahead of the Bulls, forcing turnovers and hitting their perimeter shots. Few things in the matchup came up here.
                        - when the Warriors are hitting their 3's, they are most effective
                        - Warriors play good pressure defense, causing the Bulls into several turnovers early
                        - there was no player in the Warriors who could matchup with Jordan
                        - Jordan and Pippen were able to dominate in the post
                        - The Bulls were long and athletic enough to make it hard for Curry and Thompson
                        - The Bulls were able to hone in on their defense on Curry and Thompson, which left Draymond open several times, making him the top scorer in this game

The Warriors were looking good, with their biggest lead at 14 in the second quarter. But by the third quarter, the Bulls started to figure the Warriors out and they started to clamp down on them to stay in the game. THey actually took a brief lead, until Klay Thompson started getting unconscious, and kept the Warriors ahead. Still, after falling behind by as much as 14, the Bulls were trailing by only 4 going into the 3rd, 84-80.

In the 4th, the Bulls started to dominate. They tied the game in the first 30 secs of the game, on a steal and breakaway dunk by Pippen. With Jordan on the bench, the Bulls completed a 12-2 run, led by Pippen, Harper, and Kukoc. Steph Curry rallied his team to keep within striking distance, while Draymond continued his strong game. They regrabbed the lead with Green's 3-pointer 2:42 remaining. After a Bulls timeout, they went to Pippen on the post again against Barnes, and he delivered, taking back the lead 105-104. CHICAGO -- It's one of the great debates - KOBE or JORDAN - '96 BULLS or '01 LAKERS.

                            https://youtu.be/9zyPzXaflNU

Jordan quickly set the tone versus Kobe in this one. He played tenacious D, forcing Kobe into 2 TO's and had 4 steals in the period. Kobe, on the other hand, looked like he was forcing the issue. He shot 1/5 in the 1st quarter, being hounded by MJ. This helped set the tone for the team early too as they started the game 22-9. Rodman also started covering Shaq with Longley in early foul trouble, and limited Shaq to just 7 pts in the 1st. The Bulls up 28-19 after one.

In the second quarter, the Lakers bench showed up and helped cut into the Bulls lead early. But as the Bulls started to come back, so did their defense, and they kept the lead up in double digits. They go up by 11, 59-48 at the end of the first half.

In the 3rd quarter, the Lakers started to pick up their defense. They started with an 11-2 run. Kobe made up for a lackluster 1st half and scored 13 pts in the period. But MJ and Pip again turned up the defense and their fastbreak, keeping the Lakers at bay. THe Lakers bench continued their strong play as the quarter closed, and cut the lead to 9, 92-83 going into the 4th.

In the 4th quarter, Shaq started to exert himself leading the Lakers cut the lead to 5 with half the period remaining. The Bulls starters came back to finish the period and started to defend, execute, while Kobe Bryant again started to force the issue, committing 3 costly turnovers to run the Bulls lead back to double digits. The Bulls would hang on and win the game, 117-109.

Michael Jordan was all over this game on both ends. He finished with 45 pts, 5 rebs, 11 assts, and 9 steals, 1 blk. Scottie Pippen added 26 pts.

Shaq finished with 24 pts and 16 rebs, 4 assts, 3 blks and 3 stls. Kobe, who ended up shooting more than Shaq, finished with 21 pts on 10/23 shooting. Lakers bench outscored the Bulls bench 40-17. The team had 23 turnovers, leading to 37 pts for the Bulls.

CHICAGO --- It's Magic and Michael. Bulls versus Lakers. Best teams of each franchise going at it.

Magic Johnson quickly established his court presence in the first period. He racked up 9 quick points and dished out 2 assists to get a 13-8 headstart against the Bulls. He continued his solid play thru the quarter, and the Lakers lead 32-24 after one.

The Bulls second unit quickly responded in the 2nd quarter as Magic Johnson started on the bench. Led by Kukoc and Pippen, they claimed the lead with just 3 mins gone by. Jordan then came back and had a strong second quarter to bring the Bulls up by as much as 8. Kareem, on the other hand, started exerting inside, and scored 11 pts in the period to cut the deficit to 3, 62-59 going into the half.

Jordan rode a hot 2nd quarter en route to a 28 pt first half. Magic led the Lakers with 18 pts and 8 assts.

The 3rd quarter was a back and forth affair. Lakers and Bulls changed leads through the quarter. Jordan started to pile up on his assists as he helped distribute the balls, especially with the double teams he was facing. The Bulls maintain a 2 pt lead 89-87 going into the 4th.

The fourth quarter was another close one. The Bulls second unit again delivered, bringing the lead up to 7 early on. But Kareem Abdul Jabbar and company kept fighting and it was just a 1 point lead with less than a minute to go in the game. The Bulls continued to execute perfectly, and were hanging on to a 4 pt lead with 16 secs to go. Jordan would then steal the ball on the Lakers next possession to ice the game.

                              Bulls win 123-117.

LOS ANGELES -- Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain and company host the Chicago Bulls.

                                https://youtu.be/hxaxr_nQUTc

The Bulls' defense was apparent early on. They were just too long and big for the Lakers. Jerry West could not shake off Ron Harper's defense, while the Bulls big men patrolled the lanes effectively. Their offense however also stalled, and so it was a low scoring affair to begin the 1st. Jordan would catch fire late in the 1st. Kerr would hit a buzzer beater too, and it was Chicago 26-20 after one.

THe game started to slip away in the second, with the Bulls offense starting to fire on all cylinders, while making it hard for the Lakers to score.

THey lead 54-36 at the half. Bulls forced the Lakers into just 30% FG shooting.

The second half was not much different for the Lakers. They continued to struggle against the Bulls D. Jerry West made a late push in the 4th to cut it to 11, but never made it closer.

                                THe Bulls dominate, 102-79.

Jordan finished with a triple-double. 34 pts, 10 rebs, 10 assts, 4 stls. Pippen had 22 pts, Kukoc added 19.

Chamberlain led the Lakers with 20 pts and 19 rebs. West finished with 16 pts on 6/18 shooting.
