Not your shooting or dunking or anything, but if you play about 50 games without SIM and win the championship in a single season you'll get the Gym Rat badge that gives a permanent +4 to your physical attributes.Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
17- 6’5” 250 lbs paint protector
18- 6’11” 200lbs pure rim protector
19- 6’7” 190lbs two way play
20- 6’5” 190lbs two way play
I prolly got the highest win percent in here.

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
Bro, I typed like this eloquent long intro based off buddy asking if anybody makes builds they wanna make not just based on meta.
It was describing the progression of my builds and how I not only arrived at a non-meta build, but how I’ve used them every single year.
Then it didn’t post. Then I did a shorter one and it didn’t post. So I kept it short the last time.....
I ran 15 like everyone 7’ Sf
Didn’t play 16
17 a kid I knew was like “we need a stretch 4” so I made one and they were trash
So I made a playmaker but never got the ball.
So I’m like “as a shooter I’m not getting the ball as a passer I’m not getting the ball to pass it.....imma make a build where I can get the call myself”
Made a 6’5” 250lbs paint protector based on Barkley.
Ended up running PG from the 3 and locking up 1-5 (back when people would airball contests on pure locks) this was like first week of game
Later, I started a team of all pure locks. That’s definitely not meta.
Next year, 18, I made a couple builds trynna chase meta but ended up on a 6’11” rim protector like Giannis. (He wasn’t as blown up)
I was running PG with it and found guys to play with so I made an actual PG for team. Shot creating defender PG. his playmaking was worse than the rim protector so I just ran 5 out in a pure rim. Had two way sharps at the 1 and 2, pure rim (me) at the 3, pure rim at the 4 and a two way stretch at the 5. Not meta.
19, I’m like I cant do that to my shooters
So I make a two way playmaker, 6’7” based on Penny. It was cool but the silver defensive badges left me at a disadvantage. I could switch to bigs in PnR tho.
20, I knew i was gonna make a play lock....thought about a couple builds for the first 2 days but settled on a 3-6-22-23 two-way play. This is before slashing play wave before bp build people were still making stretches.
I’ve made a ton of other builds based on my favorite players, but those were my main builds.
People do have success running non-meta styles, it’s just harder and takes more skill.
Watch the video instead of being sour.
My other builds so far this year 20 are 6’7” shooter (1-18-4-20) Reggie Miller (need help with a face btw lmao) and 6’7” slashing play (9-15-28-6) penny.
I want to make a KD build like I do every year but this year is definitely the hardest to make something even remotely like KD.
Probably going to try the 6’10” mid-range maestro I made because it has shot creating takeover somehow lmao (70 ball handle at 99.9 with +4 arms)
Y’all ever seen a 6’10” with shot creating takeover?Comment

Okay. Your original post makes sense now [emoji106]. I was thought you was just bragging about you win record. I watched the video, but in my mind I was thinking your matchup's defense wasn't that good.Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
I swear that I'm about to fall more in love with my Interior Force C than 2-way PM PG. This build can rebound, play defense, grab its share of rebounds, score from the post, finish strong underneath, and have descent playmaking.
I thought I had more control of the game and pace as a PG. Hell naw! I have a much bigger impact as a C. Plus, I kinda like being "petty" and deciding who's going to be the PG for the team, lol. Also, I've been able to activate the TEAM takeover multiple times.Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
You cannot win a game in the rec with a bad center, period.
Unless the team balance is way out of proportion.
I play with randoms most of the time, and I will take my chances with a bad pg, but I’ll dashboard if the C is trash

5/10 times the defense IS trash, it’s rec. 4/10 times the defense is good and it doesn’t matter...1/10 times I get boxed and my teammates save me lmao
That’s why I’m a 2 way play I guard ball too. I’m also pass first. Avg 12 assists over around 800 ish games m (I think maybe a high estimate)

YOU can get the ball for yourself then dictate the pace yourself. Once they see you’re legit they’ll feed you.
6’11” interior playmaker and interior finisher is a Giannis type build. If you go minimum weight you get +2 driving dunk (which is enough for all non guard dunk packages and driving contacts)Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
Came in here to update the mid range maestro KD build....
Although it’s just the prelude story...with no badges and only an 80 ovr
I was getting bucket buckets.
Usually when I upgrade them 100 percent they’ll have some sort of break (88 ball handle, 85 driving dunk, something....)
This build has very very very pedestrian stats and badge counts but it’s almost perfect to represent KD in 2k20 (waaaay harder than previous years)
So I’m thinking he’s gonna be not very good almost like Tim Duncan until I really get his overall up and badges....
Nah. Dropped 48 and 52 in the summer league lol
6’10” midrange maestro shot creating Takeover
KD is closer to 7’ and I have made my KD builds 6’11” the last two years....but centers builds are getting shorter and shorter (especially comp). So, besides the rec double 7’3” lineups he’ll be one of the taller players on the court (like KD)
But honestly this is the best representation IMO. Especially w the shot creating takeover which I’m still shocked I randomly got.
He’s stupid fast at 80 ovr and only bronze first step.
Any time I have slight regret w badge layout I remember that it was all for shot creating takeover on a 6’10”
My dream lineup for this build is like
6’4” or 6’5” 2 way play (or 2 way slashing play)
6’10” mid-range maestro
6’9” glass cleaner (shooting)
6’9” glass cleaner (shooting)
6’10”-7” shooting glass lock
You can sub the center out for an inside or even a two way playmaker as long as it’s a true center
If you have an inside big you can swap the og out for a offensive threat but then you have no locks besides the glass cleaners which would be best playing corners of the 2-3.
If you play man everyone can just switch, especially shorter two way plays or paint beasts
Theoretically since my ball handling and passing would be higher than the two shooting glass cleaners it would work.
Sorta on some super early OKC before harden.
Imagine posting up SGs in rec with a 6’10” lmaoLast edited by eNPHAN; 04-27-2020, 01:20 AM.Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
I’m making it to realistically run the 3, but I’d LIKE to run the 2.
(This is strictly for rec)
I get 8 defensive upgrades. Everything is flirting with 70 if not low 70 at 99.9 except def Reb which would be 86.
The whole idea of the build is what separates KD from just a tall shooter? His athleticism and ball handle. So I’m gonna be stupid fast with the ball at 6’10”
Any defensive weaknesses can be hidden by the height and +3 arms....8 badges is a lot for a “scoring” build.
For reference the actual KD in stock roster has similar finishing (he gets 80 layup for packages)
77 three, which mine is lower at 99.9 (72 or 73) because I didn’t pick sharp (for 70 ball handle and speed)
No difficult shots cause it’s a PF but I have shot creating takeover...
But the real Kd has 2 or 3 bronze defensive badges...he’s just long. I’ll probably go gold clamps and intimidator, bronze off ball and interceptor. Maybe drop a gold for bronze rim protector if I’m getting bullied on back doors.
Definitely not trying to play the 4 outside of zone with this build, at all.
Think of it like a SG. PRIME KD.Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
There's really no way to make a Durant build this year since 6'9" is tallest you can be while still unlocking pro dribbles and once you go up to 6'11" you can only make slashing Giannis type builds.
The best you can do if you want to make a tall skilled shooter is a Melo build at 6'8".
But height in this version of 2K only gives you an offensive advantage whenever you take layups or hook shots since jumpshot contests don't factor in height.
That means Muggsy can get a red contest on Manute Bol if he just stays outside and takes jumpers.
For perimeter players this year:
Speed and skill >>>>>>>>>>>>> height
2K had to make the game like this because last year people were just "shooting on heads" with 7 foot stretch bigs and there was no way to register a good contest on their shots unless you were within 3 inches of their listed height.Last edited by jyoung; 04-28-2020, 12:46 AM.Comment

You can still use height in certain situations. If all you want to do is grab rebounds then 7'3s are cool. But they're too slow for anything but post ups.
Being shorter at a big position is nice if you have the tools to score in multiple ways. Only scoring at the rim with being small just doesn't work very well. If you can spread the floor and still attack, being short can give you a big advantage.Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
It's less about height at every position and being a good height at certain positions. 6'5 for guards, 6'7-6'8 for SF, 6'9-6'11 for big.
