Definitiely understand the feeling. In an online or competitive setting it would be something I wouldn't want to see at all. But as a Offline only gamer, it would be nice to see if I make a few plays on defense that it gets my player hot.

They'll whine and complain about how the game is "broke", because can't understand why they're getting their cookies ripped all the time.

yeah forreal in offline that'd be dope... just wish it wasn't connected to online for things like that.

I used to make a 5’8 guard and a Iverson build. But this game has hated on shorter players for a while so I’m hoping 2k20 is different.

so its like 2k16 again where you can't upgrade individual attributes. lmao 2k really gave the illusion that we have control.

I think/hope it is more in depth than 2k16. From what I read so far, you dump attributes into each category. The more points you dump into a category, the more attributes upgrades you get for those ratings. So if you want to high 90s shooting and disregard passing, you will dump majority of points into Shooting and barely any in Playmaking.
Then when you play games you get XP for each category based on how you play. So if you have a good defensive game, you will get more XP for you to boost defensive ratings

The way I see it is you can upgrade the attributes one by one. This is just grouping the attributes in categories. So you can be a 3pt shooter but not a good midrange shooter

The gist I got is that the first step is choosing a pie chart that shows what percentage of each of those color coded sections you are. So hypothetically speaking, let's say you pick a pie that's 40% yellow, 40% blue, 10% red, 10% green. This establishes a base attribute cap for everything, so for example, your ball-handling's initial cap will be higher than your steal.

After you select your pie, you get a bunch of attribute points that you can use to increase the caps on any attribute you want (to a certain extent I think; like I don't think you could choose a pie that doesn't prioritize defense at all and then use the attribute points to get perimeter defense up to 99).

And then based on how you assign those attribute points, that determines how good you can make your badges I guess.

So long story short, you do upgrade attributes individually from the sound of it, but you establish a base to start out with and that base is not done on an individual attribute basis.

Ideally, I would like to make a Jaren Jackson Jr build. Elite level rim protection, outside shooting/ post scoring. He’s actually a much better ball handler too, so that may be my 3rd priority. Defense would be #1, shooting #2 and maybe playmaking/post scoring as the 3rd.

I feel like they will not allow a 6’11 big to have decent enough handles anyways, so may avoid doing anything to playmaking altogether .

Yep, he's who I have in mind for my big man build, though I don't know how much I'll be using my big man this year. My Khris Middleton build is definitely going to be my primary guy this year, but for my big man, I want him to be a switchable defender that can do just enough offensively to keep people honest.

I think I read that this is where badges come in. If your going for pure shooter and a lil' bit for passing you can acquire a badge like dimer to help a bit for your passing game? Crutch? I dunno...

I think so. I haven't fully read into everything yet. I think it depends on your top skills. So take my proposed build. My top.3 skils will probably be perimeter defense, 3pt, and Dunking. So most likely I will have Defensive, Sharp, and Slashing Takeover available for me to choose from. I believe you can equip and unequip badges as well

I for sure want to make a PF but have no idea who to mold my guy after .

                              Any ideas lol.

I would like to be a decent outside threat but not reliant. Good Rim protector and good to elite finishing .

I’m aiming for AD but wouldn’t mind Siakam

Seems like they really tried to tone bigs as far as I heard. Best to make a 6'9 PF. Its hard to give exact suggestions with the uniqueness of MyPlayer Builder. But I guess you can dump majority of the points into Defense, Finishing, and some into Shooting for 3pt.
