IS IT TIME TO MAKE MYPLAYER IT'S OWN STANDALONE GAME?

The fanbase has clearly diverged. I've watched hours of Mixer streams. The Hoop Dreamz fantasy simulator has clearly become the most popular facet of the game. But when the gameplay mechanics threaten to affect the NBA simulation component, it's time to split the title up.

NBA Myplayer can come out in April, while the sim game comes out in the fall. Yes it will cost more to buy both, but isn't it worth it to separate the toxic MyPlayer community from the sim nation?

    Thoughts?

Ummm, HELL YEAH!!! The my player/nba jam players end up pushing the company into ruining the game every year. It’s sickening.

            A RESOUNDING YES!

Let the cesspool of a community be in their own little world. Where everyone has OP offensive badges and only one defensive badge for defenders. I'm sure they will complain that one defensive badge will be OP if they can't hit over 80%.

I disagree. They need to tune the different modes and different gameplay styles separately. No need for 2 games. Also there are those of us who play mycareer and are sim minded gamers. I don’t play park I just play the career mode. I’m not looking to score 50pts a game with 15rbs and 15ast. The problem is the online modes where they monetize the community the most takes priority. So they tune the game based off those modes. If they would just tune modes and gameplay settings separately we wouldn’t have this problem. People on the park complained about speed and then the entire game got a speed increase. Makes no sense. The myleague crowd didn’t have these complaints therefore their mode shouldn’t have been tuned.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

Funny thing is the sim game wont make any money! If anything its probably time to end the whole myleague/MGM once and for all and focus all their effort on making myplayer/myteam the best experience possible

I said that for years. 2K CANT make a game that satisfy both sides.

Microtransactions are unacceptable on a AAA game.

They should split the game, make the online MyPlayer/My Team part full of VC as a FREEMIUM game, and the annual 60$ basketball game back as a SIM with no VC.

I’ve thought before that they release a 2 disc game, one for myplayer, one for everything else. Separate games but make the price point higher for the 2. That way, they have the best of both worlds

Re: IS IT TIME TO MAKE MYPLAYER IT'S OWN STANDALONE GAME?

I don't know if the two segments mentioned in this thread exist the way they're being talked about.

Someone mentioned the online portion, which is the spot on issue.

I play MyCareer, because I dig the single player experience - it adds to the longevity of the game since I usually run an offline MyCareer before diving into MyLeague...

The problem is trying to trick us into thinking Park/Rec/Pro AM/Neighborhood has anything to do with the NBA. MyCareer & online should be separate.

MyCareer and The Neighborhood should be separate main menu options. The online portion can cater to the yearnings of the online community, have competitive balancing, etc.

Let me play MyCareer however I want to. They can even go Fifa with it and let me play out MyCareer and, after retiring, add my player to the coaches pool with coaching strengths & weaknesses based on my play-style. The online portion is definitely poisoning (for lack of a better word) the offline experience. Why does online competitive balancing preclude me from making a KD-like player to run with offline??

                      Offline should be offline.

                      It's time.

I say nah because I think you’re just speaking in terms of MyPark.

But MyPlayer includes MYCareer guys and there are guys who play myCareer even MyPark In a “sim” fashion.

We gotta stop heading towards the notion that because you play Offline your Sim and if you do play online you’re not. Because that’s only a small few who don’t

We talk about "MY PLAYER/MY CAREER", games modes that 2K push a lot to sell VC... These modes are online.

And each new game, each new patch fixes mainly MyPlayer issues BUT also impact realism in classic basketball game mode.

Rebalancing archetypes for online mode shouldnt impact.
However, 2K16/2k17/2k18/2k19 werent the same game at their release and after first patches while i play only offline modes (quick game / myleague).

Nice idea, but they won't make "separate games". They'll just make a MyCareer game and that's it. Us offline guys won't get anything. We all know who spends the cash on this game every year and it ain't us Sim offline guys.
