Re: NBA 2K16 still holds up well
This game still has the best on-ball defense out of every 2K game as far as online goes. You could legitimately put the clamps on people and didn't have to deal with the zig-zag cheese because the ball was tangible and it would come loose if they tried to zig-zag.
The only major flaw was the god-awful, and I mean god-awful, lead passing and full court passing.
All in all I'd say this was the best game out of this gen and it's right below 11 and last-gen 14 as the best games of the series.Comment

I was able to fix a ton of them because I play on PC, but console users were not so lucky.Comment

Re: NBA 2K16 still holds up well
We were able to make the body types a lot better on PC using Blender. I basically got rid of the majority of the skinny body types, and made a "how to" video explaining the process below.
We could literally make the bodies look however we wanted.
I didn't mind the average body type as much, but the super buff and skinny body types were not good overall IMO.

Re: NBA 2K16 still holds up well
Yea I'm semi-salty I don't have... 14-15-16 etc on PC. The last I got was 13. haha. And I'm not paying those kind of prices now. Those games should be like five dollars.
@23: nothing wrong with enjoying old games. haha. It's like saying "I enjoyed x fighting game more than (newest version.)" I don't know if there's any genre I've played that gets better every new game in every way.
There are plenty of games I've passed on. Been like NOPE when I saw what they looked like. New doesn't mean better, plenty of classic games. Plus we're just talking about gameplay, right?
17 was probably the worst this-gen 2k I think haha. The only interesting part was the stick shooting. That was something I called for, too, balance and release, but it ended up being too OP. Still, I like the idea. It was too funny watching my friend air ball 14 footers in park cuz he couldn't balance it right at first.
That was an idea they should have expanded on.

Re: NBA 2K16 still holds up well
I tried 16 to refresh my memory. I still prefer 15 v cpu. There are things that I like: seems like you can get more fouls, a lot of the animations look better. You can't do that thing where you just kick the ball out on the break and get a 3... etc.
However, you can't grill someone. The way the defensive contact works in 16 makes it so you can't really pull up on someone realistically. I really dislike that. It's a 'game breaker.'
I'm sorry, I just think you need to be able to do that. Not that you can't make those shots in 16, but the defender seems to be way too physical. It's harder, but if they kept all the other parts and left jumpers like they were in 15, it would be great.

Re: NBA 2K16 still holds up well
I'm in a serious basketball game limbo right now, and this post helped to inspire me to try and go back to 2k16 and give it a go again. It's always been my fav looking back on this gen, and with the way I'm having zero fun sludging through 2k20s problems, this is needed.Comment

Originally posted by NoLeafClover2K16 was my favourite of this generation too by far, but I have to say that 2K20 is probably going to end up #2 - it's actually quite good and they fixed a few of the bugs from the past couple of years.
2K17 and 2K18 were absolute trash. Worst gameplay by far.
2K19 was "eh", not great but not terrible.
2K15 was fun with "walk on" Rec center and it was pretty good overall.
My order of the newer ones would be:
1. 2K16
2. 2K20
3. 2K15
4. 2K19
5. 2K17
6. 2K18Comment

Re: NBA 2K16 still holds up well
1. The blow by defense (and defense in general)
2. Skating/floating players
The blow by defense was acknowledged as a big issue by Mike Wang himself, and was a priority for a gameplay tweak for 2K19.
2K16 IMO had the perfect defense combination. It was the perfect in between in regards to "brick wall" and "blow by" defense, they havn't achieved that right balance since.
2K16 also had far better foot planting...Comment

Hoping that the player movement gets the proper attention/fixes for 2K21. I am guessing that they will be trying to make a big splash on the new generation of systems (PS5, etc).Comment

2K20 can dethrone 2k16 but with those PS4 Pro stuttering and FPS issues i just can't make my mind because choppiness is killing everything atm.Comment
