Lol what are you talking about? Dude, you can always back out before the game starts. It’s called closing your app, testing your connection or joining a friend’s session. And two of those lets you bypass the quitting penalty.
Your suggestion is basically to let someone queue up for solo, and if it doesn’t matchmake them with 4 other randoms in a certain amount of time, pull them into a queue with a squad. Which means, DUN DUN DUN, they run the chance of playing a squad in the Rec. You know, something they didn’t want to do or deal with in the first place. So absolutely nothing was avoided.
And if you so happen to be the (un)lucky random pulled in with a four-man squad and choose to stay, you still run the risk of being frozen out because they don’t know you.
My issue is this: Your suggestion basically says a 5-man squad is basically regulated to a SINGULAR game mode (Pro-Am). And if Pro-Am matchmaking works anything like it has for the past year or two, then if it isn’t working properly (Which is a very high chance since we’re moving into next-gen), then I guess “Tough ****, sucks to be you”?
A 5v5 squad only Rec really doesn’t serve any purpose, because it’s still basically Pro-Am. The same squads that you think are running from competition are going to ‘run’ and avoid it just like they would with Pro-Am.
