Was we expecting anything different? You know these bums only care about shooting. I know I'm playing to make either a lockdown perimeter defender or another "Interior Force". I meant to ask. Are we still getting instants of lockdown/glass cleaners hitting corner 3's like they're a genuine threat?

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
They haven't changed shooting AT ALL in rec since release except for the tweak to the aim point (which if anything makes it harder for those trying to use aiming).
Instead, everyone is building pure sharps and playmaking shots after starting the game with builds that would work in 2k20 because there is an exponential curve from mid-high 70s 3 ball to 90s 3 ball. Having played both I can tell you its night and day, literally going from crapshoot to near automatic on shooting.
If you play rec enough you’ll notice when 2k remixes sliders throughout the year. I don’t even need patch notes at this point.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
Perimeter lockdowns are still fairly reliable from the corner on catch and shoot. Centers - not so much. Even Stretch 5s seem pretty mediocre anywhere but mid range or the corner.

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
Thanks.
At least, I now know that if I play REC, I don't have to worry about being "pulled from the paint" by a center who has no business shooting 3's. Myles Turner is literally the only "Rim protecting, stretch" in the NBA.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
I let everyone shoot 3 besides playmaking sharps or pure sharps...

On what authority do you somehow know this? I have yet to see anyone but sharps/shot creators go off in rec in the 100+ games I've played.Comment

He's not listed as a C but Porzingas would qualify, and Brook Lopez last year. But yes, they are much rarer than 'nearly every team' like last year.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
I mean.... That's the thing about centers shooting 3s in real life. NONE of them shoot like Curry.
But every year you have to play every position 1-5 like they're lights out. Even GREAT shooting bigs in the NBA are under .40 on the season.
That's the trouble with this game. It needs to be way less "open = make" because then the paint is ALWAYS open.
There should be a risk/reward for having your big outside all game.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
I feel like since building a mp is so based on break points they should ditch numbers and just have levels. Maybe have a line in the middle like with physicals so you know how close you are. Because it seems like everything is break point based. I dunno what the high break points are for 3 but I can tell you it's not cash with an 80. But im not all badged. The way I wanna play is not effective. The part that sucks is if you wanna do anything you gotta cut into shooting. Shooters are capable of doing anything if you play it well. Shooting is the only thing you can't do on every player if you put points in. Even like 50 reb helps a ton. 50 steal is cookie factory. 50 shot Loool.
The idea isn't making low rated players more wet, it's making sharps less wet. Imagine a full spec player. Imagine a full spec post scoring player. It's way harder to score. Why? You just have to press a button and when you buff their release window like that for high attributes, it's a joke.
If me and my friend are playing 3s we can beat almost anyone with a trash tier sharp as long as they play some d and can adjust to shooting when we hit them. Which can be almost every time. But if we don't get a sharp. Any trash team can beat us. That's weird.

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
I’ve seen guys who shot 10% to begin the year start to become consistent shooters with the same badge set up all year.
2k hot fixes shooting throughout the year. I expect another during during the holidays.Comment

They did fix that this year. If you’re under a 75 3-point, even the corner isn’t a guarantee. So it’s really only the stretch 4s you have to guard on the perimeter. A big man build with shooting as a secondary might hit from the corner decently but he won’t be lights out.
They did make SOME improvements to pro-am/rec this year, to be fair to 2K. Mediocre shooting builds can’t hit crazy high percentages just by knowing their shot. Zone isn’t quite as effective because they did tone down passing lane steals a bit. They still don’t punish spammers enough but guys don’t really leap 10 feet away to snag passes like last year. Because zone is less effective, it is distinctly easier to punish teams running 4 guards and 1 Center on the inside. That said, scoring 2s on them doesn’t really accomplish much if they’re scoring 3s at a 70% clip on the other end.
Honestly 2Ks big failure in balancing was leaving 85+ shooting builds still able to stroke at ridiculously rates. On top of that, they created this Playmaking Shot Creator build that has virtually no weaknesses (even on defense) that can hit all the shooting thresholds. It’s honestly worse than when they first created archetypes and Pure Sharps were the only ones who could shoot like this. At least they were terrible on defense and had really mediocre dribbling.
