I am not the OP but have started using this recently in my NBA2K+CHoops 2K dynasty. Here's where I have started:
    • 3 Combine
    • 1 Draft
    • 3 Free agency
    • 2 Summer League
    • 3 Preseason
    • 2 pre-deadline
    • 2 post-deadline

    I hope that's helpful.

That's a good base. I think for me it'd be more interesting to bump up the pre-season a bit to 5 and the pre-post deadlines to 4.

I feel like a lot of random things change mid season for players and I wanna mimic that.

      Thanks for replying!

My personal recommendation is doing 10 at the beginning of each month during the regular season, and then 5-10 during each stage of the offseason. It seems like a lot, but with 30 teams in the league, you're really only impacting 10 people or teams each time, which isn't that much.

This also gives you a chance to get more events that really change the landscape of the league. By doing only 1-3 events each time, the likelihood that you get something like a trade request is pretty low, when in the real NBA those types of requests take place at least once a year.

Just coming across this. Really awesome thread. Thank you for your time you spent on this. Thinking I may add an event for myself. I'm digging the increase attribute but i think I may copy those and name the event Rookies. That way someone could have gotten a steal in the draft. Or maybe add another one and make it a "2nd round steal". Again thanks for this, really gives your myleague a more realistic feeling that was missing.

Hey I just made an account to say that I love the tool you made. I just stated my 3rd MyLeague season yesterday and had DeMar Derozan become a great defender and Julius Randle become a good passing big. I added some draft scenarios just incase anyone wants to use it for their MyLeague. I'll make sure to post anything else I add to the other scenarios.

Draymond Green Draft Slip - 2nd Round Draft Pick feels slighted for falling in the draft. Raise potential by 2-5, raise highest attribute by 2-5 (Only done once per draft)

Anthony Bennett Syndrome - Top 20 Draft Pick thinks they've made it and gets complacent after getting drafted. Lower potential by 1-5, lower their 3 highest attributes by 1-5

Student Meets Teacher - Vet takes new Draft Pick under his wing. Assign rookie 1 badge (in bronze) the veteran currently has. Ex. Steph takes rookie under belt, rookie gets bronze limitless range even though Steph has HOF version

Small Fish, Big Pond - Rookie in Big Market (LA, CHI, NY) gets caught up with the extra circulars of the big city. Lower stamina, strength, misc durability and offensive & defensive consistency by 2-5

Kobe Bryant Summer - Rookie is determined to turn his weaknesses into strengths. Make layup finishing hand "both" and raise 8 lowest attributes by 2-4 (only done once per draft)

Step on a "Lego" - Rookie plays in an ill-advised pickup game at his Alma mater and rolls his ankle. Apply 21 days injury to sprained ankle, lower injured ankle durability by 2-10

Looks great Dominator, but how do I use it? Haha

I made a copy of it on my drive, opened it up and see Team, Player ID, Player Name and so on. At the bottom it shows Archived Stories, Combine/Workouts and more. But I know nothing about sheets and at a total lose on what to do. There is no green run button or anything....waaaaah, I need my hand held.

                  Be safe,

How do you handle events during the combine/workout phase? I mean, these are meant to apply for the rookies of the upcoming draft, right? You cannot edit these rookies at that stage anymore until after the draft.

For the combine phase, I do all those edits before entering into any of the pre-draft stuff (like combines, workouts).

For draft edits, I do it immediately post-draft.

                                Re: MyLeague Random Events

Wanted to add something in that I did that made the offseason a lot more enjoyable. Full disclosure, this does require 30 team control but it made the offseason feel more realistic beyond the great events we already have, and apologies for how long it is but I hope this is useful. Using the original Random Event Generator, I created destinations for the offseason free agents to help add some clarity and realism to free agency.

To do this, I took the original version of the Random Event Generator, and on the Look Up tab changed Results to Free Agents and deleted the Events column. I then added all Free Agents rated 82 and above, though next offseason I'll extend that to 80. So column C2 was Giannis, C3 was Kawhi, C4 was Paul George, and so on for free agents in the summer of 2021.

Next up was adjusting the likelihood a team would be selected. A 1/30 chance for a team like the Lakers or another title contender was too low, so based off previous season success and roster construction, teams are given a +1, which just means the team name was added again to the list. So instead of the list being 76ers in A2, Bucks in A3, and so on, it was 76ers in A2 through A4, Bucks A5 through A10, and so on. The parameters to increase was based off how the team fared the year before and how good the roster is constructed. The full list is as follows:
                                • +1 for making the NBA Finals
+1 for making the Conference Finals
+1 for making the Conference Semi Finals
+1 for every player rated 90 or higher
+1 for every player rated 85-89

I originally had something to account for young players rated 83 or higher, but didn't feel the results were realistic.

Once you have the full list of free agents and teams updated, you run the sheet for each free agent five times, thus creating his top five preferred destinations. For some players I included their incumbent team even if it wasn't included to keep realism. For Paul George for example, the sheet indicated his preferred destinations were the Clippers, Heat, Bucks, Celtics, Warriors and Mavericks.

Using full 30-team control, these are the only teams allowed to offer him a contract, or if they don't have cap space you can do a sign-and-trade deal - which I'll get into in a second. If all five teams are able to offer a contract, you should offer as identical a contract as you can; this helps take financial incentive out of the equation. In George's scenario, he ended up signing with the Mavericks on a four-year deal edging out the Heat.

But not all teams have max cap space, or any cap space, like the Warriors in this scenario. What I did then was look at the Warriors roster, identify what contracts they could trade to make a sign-and-trade deal work, and then make a personal judgement call. Is the roster that's left over enticing for the free agent, or is the deal even possible? In the Warriors case, being hard capped at the hard tax would mean filling out the rest of the roster around Steph, PG, and Klay would be impossible. If the roster isn't as good or if it's not possible, then they don't offer any deal. If it is, what you'll do then is sign the player to his incumbent, turn off the recently signed restriction, and trade him to the team on his list. I think this is where you can get creative and really throw some curveballs. No one saw Jimmy Butler going to Miami, but they made it work.

The experiment was rewarding, with George joining Luka and Kristaps in Dallas, Victor Oladipo signing with the Lakers and John Collins signing with the Timberwolves. Kawhi returned to LA but on a roster that looks drastically different. Unfortunately I didn't get any sign and trades because it would've made filling out a roster around the hard cap literally not possible. I know 2k doesn't get that detailed, but when you do 30-team control you can control for that.

I know this was a long post, and it's late here but wanted to share it while it was still fresh in my mind, so I hope it makes sense. I'd be happy to share the Google Sheet that I used if that makes life easier than having to find an original sheet. Would love to hear your thoughts on it as well, or if there's anything you've done to make the free agent market more enticing.
