P.J. Tucker also takes 4 threes a game. He also takes only 2 twos per game.
Westbrook takes 18 twos (not including fouls).

Westbrook should have the lowest 3pt rate on the team (excluding Chandler/Hartenstein).


What's frustrating is I believe 5-Out Offense was patched out which is why we're not seeing proper spacing on the Bucks/Rockets.

The Rockets straight up don't function with P.J. Tucker standing under the basket.

the solution for this is using the hawks freelance which is a (not perfect) 5 out offense. the center is up the point position, guards are positioned on the wing while the forwards are placed on the corner

with the rockets put tucker and house at the forward spots so they stand in the corner (Covington at center)

with the bucks play Giannis at center so you can have him up top at the point with 4 shooters spread out. Put Lopez and Matthews at the forward spot for the same reason above

Shot Tendencies (Shot-Inside-Close-Mid-3pt)

POINT GUARD
Avg Starter: 75-45-45-15-55
Young: 105-40-65-10-95
Teague: 60-35-50-5-30
Goodwin: 65-35-50-5-75

Young is all about floaters and threes. He doesn't settle for mid-range jumpers but isn't looking to attack the rim. Teague is stubborn about being a non-gunner. It's why Minnesota demoted him and then gave him away for nothing of value. He isn't attacking the rim enough to compensate. Goodwin has a similar shot profile to Young, just obviously isn't as talented. Makes him a great fit on this team as he'll see most of his time in games Young sits out.

SHOOTING GUARD
Avg Starter: 70-35-40-15-65
Huerter: 50-20-30-10-70
Bembry: 40-40-20-0-25
Graham: 40-25-20-0-45

All the Hawks SGs are low-volume, which makes sense next to a gunner like Trae. Huerter doesn't attack the rim very well. Bembry is a slasher in a league where SGs need to be able to shoot. Graham is an all-around terrible scorer but at least knows where to stand on the court.

SMALL FORWARD
Avg Starter: 60-35-35-10-50
Hunter: 55-30-20-15-55
Reddish: 55-30-30-15-60
Carter: 50-10-25-10-85
Brown: 75-45-45-5-80

Hunter and Reddish put up more jumpers than your average wing, and both take mid-range at a higher rate than Trae. Not sure if that's bad shot selection due to them being rookies, or by design. Carter lost a step and couldn't get to the rim anymore this year. Brown only played 40 minutes so his rates are a bit of a fluke.

POWER FORWARD
Avg Starter: 65-40-40-10-50
Collins: 70-75-40-5-40

Collins attacks the rim HARD in the Pick & Roll for a modern PF.

CENTER
Avg Starter: 60-55-40-10-25
Capela: 50-80-30-0-0
Dedmon: 55-40-25-5-50
Labissiere: 45-35-45-10-10
Jones: 35-60-10-0-5
Fernando: 45-60-20-0-20

Capela and Jones are rim rollers. Jones has essentially no game outside of that. Dedmon is your prototypical "stretch five" Decent enough post game but he knows where he's earning his money. Fernando took threes, but only shot 5-37. He doesn't have the size/athleticism Capela/Jones do so he'll need to address that to stick in the league. Labissiere played most of his mins at C which is why I listed him here (likely more 3PA at PF). Has a good post game for a backup.

Wow, how did I not know this. That’s kind of game breaking for offline players, no? I see the suggestion below so I will try that but I’ve been playing w the rockets a lot wondering what the deal was. Just basically did harden pnr nonstop to try and counter it.

Does this also apply to the Clips offense? I’ve noticed their centers usually spend a fair amount around the top of the key.

Yes. they changed these freelances - Bucks, Denver, Nuggets, 5-Out, Warriors because they were too overpowered online. imo, these freelances become useless after they got nerfed.

The only true 5-OUT Freelance in 2K20 at the moment is 21 DELAY. It's the only one that maintains the spacing and sets of modern 5-out NBA offense.

Adjusted Pull-Up shooting tendencies and had some positive results.

THE GOOD:
Thirty 3PA by the Rockets is a step in the right direction.

Russell Westbrook only 1-2 3PT. His volume 3pt shooting issue has been resolved.

THE UGLY
Three-point percentage is in the gutter, and was it was infuriating to watch this play out. A significant portion of these misses were designated "Wide Open"

The AI randomizes shot release timing to create a "varied" experience. I found myself cursing at my TV every time I saw "VERY LATE" or "VERY EARLY" on shots where the player was wide open under no pressure.

James Harden went 2-13 on threes. He is over-loaded with badges and was still missing open shots.

Wendell Carter attacked P.J. Tucker all game due to the height discrepancy. The AI is programmed to target mismatches of 6 inches. On the surface, this seems like a good idea, right?

Carter is the 4th/5th option and his season high was 20. These situations make sense when the PG gets matched up with a C during a switch. Yet when it's a game-long matchup, the AI will simply keep attacking and abandon the gameplan.

The Rockets lacking 5-Out is a major issue. Tucker is essentially playing the role of Clint Capela, except he can't roll to the rim. Anytime he catches the ball (always near the hoop), the offense breaks down. He dribbles around 10 feet away cycling through options since none of them include "attack the rim". The Rockets are basically playing 4-on-5.

Few more tweaks.

Westbrook's 3's were all off Harden drive and kicks
Harden 3-12 3pt but at least was creating on drives
Tucker finally found the 3pt line.
