Don't know what would cause that issue.
On the salary cap screen, it shows both being under contract for the following season but on the contract extensions screen, they're both listed as being an upcoming free agent. Makes no sense.

Even guys like Bam from the Heat are already saying they're gonna "test FA" after this first season.

You have the contracts on point, must be just one very annoying glitch.

It wasn't just Smith's percentages that made him horrible this season - It was his willingness to jack them up. He took a team-leading THREE Mid-Range shots per 36 minutes. He's an interesting case-study in that his player tendencies should serve to make him actively worse than his rating.

It's crazy to think that only a few months ago the 22-year old former lottery pick entered preseason as the starting PG in the world's largest market. There's no way to describe Smith's season beyond a monumental failure. Players his age don't take 5 steps backward without some type of injury. He looked washed.

The good news for Smith? He's still young. He's still an elite athlete. He mercifully still has another year on his contract to hope everyone forgets. Yet, he undoubtedly cost himself millions of dollars and potentially years of his career.

Trey Burke had to go to the G-League after his rookie contract ended in order to work his way back into the league (ironically with the Knicks, and was part of the Smith trade). Burke made a paltry of 4.4M over the last three years, and is out of the league right now at 27 years old. He didn't collapse on his rookie deal to the degree that Smith did.

        Allonzo Trier
        Position: SG/PG
        H/W/A: 6’4” / 200 lbs / 24 years
Archetype: Shot Creator (from Deep-Range Shot Creator)

Trier's inability to escape the bench this season has been one of the bigger mysteries of the Knicks season. The Knicks didn't even bother to send him to the G-League either. They just let him rot.

Trier didn't play a single game from Jan 20 to Feb 21. From Feb 24-27 he played 3 games, averaging 10 PPG in 11 MPG on 71% shooting. He proceeded to NOT play in the next three games, played a quarter of garbage time on March 6th, and then didn't play in the last three before stoppage.

Iso-Zo is an effective scorer, especially when compared to Kevin Knox - who seemingly couldn't shoot his way out of a wet paper bag (OR his rotation spot).

It's tough to know what the future holds for Trier. He's young (23), cheap (3M), effective (62 TS%), yet couldn't escape the bench of a team that won 32% of it's games (the same team that gave him 6 million dollars). Another franchise would be wise to scoop him in a trade if he's not in the long-term plans.

Shidi I see your speed and acceleration ratings are more true to the default 2k formula. I actually liked how you boosted them in previous 2Ks. Players contested shots better, stuck to their man, and the fastbreaks were better too. Can you boost the speed ratings again?

2K reduced many speed ratings this year, and I made it a point to adjust scale. I'm still boosting speed for many players.

On this note, I think there's a disconnect between the IRL product and the video game product. IRL most players don't really hit top speed anymore (and this is certainly true of the Knicks).

If I had to guess, it's because one ceases to be a 3pt threat if they're sprinting. There's no longer a mad scramble to beat everyone down the floor for a layup before the half-court defense can set up.

Case in point, James Harden is technically the slowest player in the league. Yet he's 3rd in Fastbreaks possessions behind Giannis and Westbrook. LeBron is 4th in fastbreaks, and 10th slowest.

It's clear that fastbreaks in 2K don't really play out the way they do IRL.

              On-Court MPH
              3.52 James Harden
              3.57 Marc Gasol
              3.62 Carmelo Anthony
              3.62 DeAndre Jordan
              3.68 Blake Griffin
              3.69 Eric Gordon
              3.71 Jeff Teague
              3.72 Anthony Davis
              3.73 Chris Paul
              3.74 LeBron James
              3.76 Joel Embiid

Personally, I'm not big on tuning the gameplay from year-to-year. I don't pretend to be a developer - it's up to them to get the gameplay down. Every user has their own preference on how they think the game should play (that's where sliders come in).

My work has always been focused on making sure the players are accurately represented relative to each other.

I agree with you but it just doesn’t mesh with the gameplay well. Yes, I think it is more a 2K gameplay thing than the roster itself. & When the speeds were boosted you actually had more players running to the 3pt line gameplay wise & it felt more like today’s pace. Now players like Giannis, Harden, and Ben Simmons just sprint to the rim for easy uncontested dunks, layups, with nobody stopping them and no one sprinting ahead of them for an open 3. They hardly ever look to pass to the shooters. You would think lower speeds leads to more 3’s and assists but it actually does the opposite and leads to more dunks, uncontested layups, and players not getting back on defense.

Sure, but isn't there a slider for player speed?

The Downhill (One-Man Fastbreak) badge is a likely culprit as well in this example. I'm not here to say those players shouldn't get the badge because it has a game-breaking effect.

If someone took an edit for one of my players and applied it to 2K25 (i.e. when those issues are fixed), as part of say, a 2020 roster, it would stand the test of time.

Yep I increased the player speed and acceleration sliders to 60 for both the cpu and User and it played a hell of a lot better. Even after patch 11, the game was still the same out the box. It never got so bad in 2k19 that I had to change the sliders.

As a general note, I'm more likely to respond to requests when they are limited to one player.

Writeups are fun, but time consuming endeavors.

I appreciate all the hard work my G!

One player that needs a rehaul is ... PASCAL "SPICY P" SIAKAM.

We would all appreciate that! Much respect and stay safe.
