It's the panic button response everytime any actual conversation takes place about the game outside of complaints.

How the fact that a NBA game is regulated by the, you know, the rules of the NBA is a "company line" is beyond me...it's not like its praise, lol

This makes sense for single-player types. Less so for social players who’d have to convince their network to keep playing the old game.

I have never understood why the people who feel like each year is just a roster update (or money grab) dont just skip a year or two. That way the game does feel like it's two years (or more) advanced when they play it because it really would be. I personally look forward to the yearly sport game releases.

True, but takes some luck. For example, I have a sim-based ps4 online league, participated in slider and online forums, but it takes a while to build up enough people to participate regularly in those threads and build out the network. There’s a gap in guidelines for using these forums effectively for purposes like that.

For example, I have a sim-based ps4 online league, participated in slider and online forums, but it takes a while to build up enough people to participate regularly in those threads and build out the network. There’s a gap in guidelines for using these forums effectively for purposes like that.

Now this dialogue right here is more or less the essence of why I became an offline player (though i do watch a few other people who play online), not just in 2K specifically, but as a gamer in general.

TBH I am an adult with a job, other RL interests, and a very low desire for social interaction(it tires and frustrates me quickly).I have no interest in spending time with people any more than is absolutely necessary.

This applies even more so when it comes to gaming as I will freely admit that I find the great majority of most online communities to be immature,annoying, and frustrating to play with to the point where I would rather shut the game off after a few minutes and go do something else than deal with it.

If an actual athlete of the sport is saying the game is bad then he might actually have an argument.

I don't know if he mentioned his specific issues, but him being a point guard, I can kind of guess what they are.

The basic aspects of the basketball aren't represented well imo.

Fair enough...but arguably the best player in the world enjoys the game...and has said on numerous occasions he uses it as a reference for real life scenarios. What does that say?

Again, Fox's comments stem from an argument with other NBA players, like All Star Donovan Mitchell, who enjoy it. Not to mention the 30 player tourney going on.

I think at the end of the day, it's a basketball video game. As we can see, even people at the highest level are going to have different opinions on how well it replicates things. The opinions above dont make it perfect, Fox's dont make it trash.

We just gotta stop latching on to this stuff to validate our issues. (Not you, but the spirit of the thread)

Only thing i gotta say is those blaming the hiccups of the game on development cycle are being disingenuous.
Most of the hangups people have for this game are due to the global settings and configuration.

And im not speaking from the pov of an offline gamer who plays against CPU bots, im talking pvp modes where everything is under the hood and cannot be tinkered with.

Most people take pvp as offline, as it should cater to their personal preference rather then that of the entire community.

Its just so happens that they rather do stuff based on data rather then just people’s emotions.

Everthing gets registerd on their servers and if interceptor for instance really was broken then the data would have shown it and it would have been fixed by now.
Pretty much how they adressed fancy footwork and difficult shots.
Or that silly behind the back dribble move that everyone had.
Or jumpshot animations.

I think that is another part of why I stopped gaming online almost completely.....as I get older,I find that the gameplay of most online oriented games just doesn't line up with the kind of gameplay that I find fun anymore.

Exactly. Online gamers just swear they're the experts when it comes to making online games better. When it's all said and done, they want the game to be how THEY want it if they were tweaking sliders.

I've been saying this all year...once you stop treating NBA 2K as a "true" simulation, you'll find the game to be fun minus some gameplay hiccups here and there. Truthfully, I get more frustrated and angry with the actual "gamers" than the game itself.

That's more or less where I am at too.I used to get really aggravated with almost all online games but after a certain point, I realized that most of them take the same approach to gameplay, and that approach is not the right one for me.I think people sometimes get into a cycle of doing something even if they hate it, just because they get used to it or don't know what else to do.

I think you're very right about online gamers...the most frustrating aspect of online gaming for me is often just having to play with people with no competitive desire that just want to goof around,refuse to listen, and continually spout unfunny jokes, then act like there's something wrong with the players who are actually trying to play well and win.

There's only so long I can listen to what usually sounds like kids or college students endlessly trash talking and acting like they are the God's gift to gaming, tying to act hard,etc. That's not even counting the number of times I have heard slurs or other very offensive remarks of a personal nature...

Your first paragraph about "online experts" is also spot on IMO. If you look at posts in forums for pretty much any online game, quite often these "experts" almost all play the same tune...."My favorite "things" are unfairly underpowered and should be a centerpiece, they should be able to dominate everything else and nothing should be able to counter them. Anything that can counter my favorite "things" though......that's unfair and OP and needs to be nerfed immediately."
