Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball

I believe 2k don't really care about being authentic. It has no competition. Each year all it is same game with really lazy rookie scans. No tattoo's or nothing. If I owned the company I'd make sure every player was updated properly!!!!

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball

I mean, I guess we all play for different reasons but...

Video games should be fun...and 2K should continue to look for ways to achieve that....as well as realism...which was Mikes next sentence in that quote that keeps being brought up. Acting all incredulous over that clip is so odd to me, lol

The criticisms are definitely fair though.

If you think Park/Rec are bad, it feels like they don't even look at balancing H2H NBA gameplay anymore...they just lump in any and all changes without a second thought to how it could effect PNO. Park/Rec at least have a tangible list of incoming foxes. Us PNO players get the scraps from that.

That's the point. These issues have existed in some fashion for the last 20 years. The game has never been a "simulation".

The AI isn't "bad". It's simply Artificial.

Imagine if COD's multi-player was you and 4 AI drones against another player and 4 AI drones. Do that for 30 minutes. That's NBA 2K.

I dont even care about the shooting, the defensive and general ai is probably the worst since I play 2k. The cpu walks through defenders like it walks through butter, the cpu literally doesnt care if their is any kind of shot contest. Help defense? None of my ai teammates looks like it has any clue about its surroundings. And dont talk about transition, everyone runs around like wild chickens.

Imagine being YoBov28 sticking around for that. He could've made a sandwich during that and no one would've missed him on the court

And this is my point. If you’re playing COD or Destiny or even Fortnite and there’s a mechanic or weapon that is crazy unbalanced, the player-base expects them to patch it. The solution isn’t “Play campaign or play solo!” The company provides an online experience and you expect them to tune it and balance it. Cheesers gonna cheese isn’t a free pass for companies to not even try.

If someone can go 37/52 in 24 minutes then said task simply isnt difficult enough. 2k should offer separate rec centers for people who want to score 100 points and for people who would like more realistic percentages. Not bashing the guys who wanna go 47/50 from 3 if thats how they have fun then so be it. But im sure there is a nonsinsignificant portion of the crowd that wouldnt mind having realistic percentages.

2k created a monster with stacking badges+ takeover+ automatic greens. It grew the games populairty and thats cool. But you’d think they’d have something for the other portion of the crowd no?

And i dont know how difficult this is with regard to the rest of the game’s internal code. But how about you maintain the current frequency of green releases but in the “simulation” rec center and online lobbies you go with the old 2k style that green release is just the maximum percentage that you have to make the shot with regards your players ratings
                        99 rating = 60% chance
                        70 rating = 32 % chance
                        And you scale from there.

Does it create more randomness and RNG in a game to wants to be all in on user control. But i’d say some of us are fine with that.

Game isnt killed or ruined just needs to be tweaked to allow people to play the way they want to play

The hurt of a loss against them than that against the CPU and especially against a simhead. With a simhead I'm like "Dah well, the game was over in the 3rd quarter but I still had to play a full 48 minutes, SMH".

I don't want to play against sim-style of play unless they need too. I have more fun playing sim and cheesing doesn't even enter my mind and beating a cheeser with sim is probably the greatest thrill you can get out of the game. The problem is there are not enough negative consequences to cheesing to make the cheeser be forced to play realistically. If I'm playing against someone who uses money plays, great, it forces me to think.

I want competition at the end of the day but its on 2K to make the cheeser play realistically, so that if I'm playing a cheeser, I'm sweeping them away by 20, not beating them by 1.

This is what I most appreciate about humans when it comes to online gaming.
I appreciate competition too, but I absolutely HATE playing against the metas of each NBA 2K title. I get no satisfaction in beating a bum *** cheeser. If you got to "cheat" to win, then I can't even RESPECT you as a competitor. If you beat me, meh. If I beat you, meh. Maybe because I've been playing against online metas since NBA 2K4, I could be just a tired online warrior. In past NBA 2K titles, I could easily beat my opponents by playing "sim" basketball. Nowadays? Man...I'm lucky if I can beat you with fundamental basketball knowledge. I'm just to the point that I'm getting tired of losing to or playing against badges and unrealistic stats. That's not "fun" or "competitive" to me.

What's sad is that this generation of gamers don't know or will never understand "true" competition when it comes to online basketball.

This game used to have a little bit of respect. Visual Concepts and 2K used to have a little bit of respect and integrity. I have zero respect for either anymore. We've been sold out. Every year it's the same bs with this game. It's become predictable. Take our money, then have open ears to the 12 yr olds on Twitter or YouTube crying about shooting, and then give them their pacifier so 2K doesn't get "bad PR".

The shooting hotfix killed this game.

Don't tell me this game is anywhere near realistic when I just literally witnessed about 30 contested/hand in face shots go in Rec. It's a joke at that point. Give someone a money jumpshot, wait a few weeks for their OP badges, and it's over. This is why NBA 2K League is a joke too. Same meta of bs basketball. None of these clowns even ball irl or even know real strategy. They're 2K heads not basketball heads.

When absolute bums can green shots no matter the defense, it's over. This game has had that problem for 4 years. Your community is twitter, period. If you are a sim player who has once ounce of understanding of real basketball, 2K couldn't care less about you. This forum is the last of Sim ball but it's on deaf ears. 2K literally is EA Live when they got cocky. Now I see why Scott O'Gallagher went back. He sees where this is headed. Hopefully the new NBA Live becomes the old 2K.

I can't believe people wager money over this trash.
Offline Myleague and MLO is the last refuge for sim heads. Its been over for the myplayer modes for damn near a decade now. Suprised this is a revelation. If those are your go to modes, you might as well take your ball and go home. Find a sim online league or better yet create a sim rec league with rules. Otherwise, youre in for a world of hurt playing randoms. Godspeed.

When someone gets to like 70-80 points and it's obvious they are going to just keep jacking, it's time to sell out and start blitzing them and making them give up the ball just so it doesn't become a meme.

True the task is too easy but people really fail at defense. Not only that but then they get demoralized. Gotta start breaking some bones out there.
