I don't really find it that surprising that we don't have next-gen footage of 2k. For the last several years 2k has waited until like a month before release before we really get an info overhaul. They're basically continuing the same trend.

Don't get me wrong I'd prefer to have information sooner but this isn't really new behavior from them.

No tech demos, or "gameplay" trailers similar to what 2K has already put out.

Its possible I could have missed all of it.

Yeah the fact that 2k has only described the next-gen game in vague generalization so far e.g. "It will be revolutionary" "It will be completely different than 2k21 current gen", means 1 of 2 things.

1.) It is indeed a revolutionary game that is completely different from the last several 2k games and is able to take advantage of the increased graphics/processing capabilities of the new consoles to offer a completely new and improved basketball gaming experience.

2.) It is all smoke and they aren't showing specifics because they have nothing to show.

At this point I (perhaps naively) think it is probably closer to 1.) than 2.) but if we don't see anything more concrete (e.g. gameplay footage) in the next 2-3 weeks I will start to think it is more like 2.)

I'm a glass is half empty kinda guy but I'd be absolutely flabbergasted if it isnt scenario 1.

I get people having a sour taste in their mouths from NBA 2K20.5 and their thoughts naturally assuming next gen could be the same but I just dont see it.

Before this year 2k isnt one of the franchises that most people would describe as having marginal upgrades.

This year of course that's the common sentiment but I really think we will see why this happened when next gen comes out and we are blown away.

Exactly. I believe even in a typical year 2k doesn't start releasing anything substantial until we're around six weeks away from the release date. I think that may be pushed back even further this year since they're still trying to sell as many current-gen copies as possible before they start the next-gen marketing push.

I don't remember exactly how the marketed PS4/Xbox One with 2K14 but I'm guessing we see some in-game footage on the night of Game 1 of the NBA Finals and hopefully we start seeing weekly blogs the following week. That's just my guess but less than 50 days away from release now so info has to start rolling in very soon. It's tough but we just have to be patient at this point.

I'm eagerly anticipating some footage as well. I'm sure we all are. If we look at timelines though (minus this years current gen version which virtually had nothing right up until release), traditionally, new information on the next installments of 2k would start to drip out August-ish when the game would be released in October. Since it's switched over to September release dates, there may have been some July info the last couple years, but not much. 2K USED TO BE a whole lot better releasing info leading up to release....But since Live has been MIA, 2k really seems to be lacking in this regard. I'd say primarily because they know people will buy it anyway but that's a whole other post.

So anyways, if we go by that time line, I'd say we're looking at not getting any new info until sometime between mid October to early November.

I was lucky enough to preorder XBX. I’m holding off on 2k until I have my new system. The anticipation is at an all time high but I have faith in Take 2 to [emoji2962]

That's exactly what I did. They still have a window to sell as much as they can with current gen and then come November, they know the game will sell.

I have faith too. At minimum, we'll get to see what a "from the ground up" next-gen game looks like. I think all the other next-gen launch games are basically cross-generation ports.

So we know they are sticking to the same rough timeline of 2k14 for releasing information which would put a trailer around mid October. Hoping the NBA Finals starting this week speeds that up though. Just give us a little tease.

Do we?
We had seen a lot more of 2k14 at this point than the 15seconds we have seen of 2k21. And most likely that wasn’t even gameplay but just in engine CGI.
It’s getting to that point that it feels like they are hiding it cause they can’t deliver what they have talked up.
Love to be proven wrong, but have a bad feeling that we are like 6weeks out from launch and have seen nothing
