Re: NBA 2K23 - OFFICIAL TRIANGLE SYSTEM THREAD (NEXT GEN)
If you’re in triangle freelance they’ll space and then cut or wait for another pass that will trigger the actions

Re: NBA 2K23 - OFFICIAL TRIANGLE SYSTEM THREAD (NEXT GEN)
i got such a noob question.
first NBA2k in a couple of years.
how do i run plays? when i push d-pad > left
all it gives me is the same generic favorite plays? Do i need to change those favourite plays into custom plays? But even then, seems wild that there's a million preset plays but i can only access 3 or 4?
what am i missing?
thanks in advanceComment

I plan on doing that as well. I’ve been traveling since the 11th so I haven’t had time to do so yet. The team that will take the longest will be the 2005 lakers who switched back to the triangle mid-year but still ran some sets like Horns that flowed into sideline triangle spacing. There are a few plays like that we can incorporate.Comment

I just got back and haven’t gotten through them all but here’s an example of a play from the Horns sets Lakers ran a lot in 2005Comment

I have some games from 2005 saved on YouTube that I will start watching soon to see what we have in game. One thing I always try and do is only include plays and wrinkles I’ve seen ran IRL. So this whole Eras thing is really gonna have me playing the game a lot for the entire cycle for the first time since 2k19. Can’t wait.Comment

It all depends on how you like to run offense and the players you have tbh. Do you call plays or do you run them manually? Do you have a dominant scoring post player or a post playmaker or none of the above? I have been calling plays manually forever so my “quick plays” are common plays that I add first to the custom playbooks so they show up first in OTFC menus in game. I use the first five favorite play series options to run motion cuts, quick hit ahead post plays, secondary break plays. Then I choose the last 3 for plays to exploit the most advantageous matchups:
MOTION
02 PUNCH 35 DOWN POINT
W FIST 34 UP MID
02 FIST 25 QUICK DOWN
PUNCH 1 FIST
GIVE 42 TRI
02 GIVE 43 ELBOW SWING (I assign this to a center)
91 GIVE 53 ELBOW PUNCH

I made some edits today. I added some more options for early offense, secondary break, zone offense, open set, and more No. 2 to the top variations. You’ll also see I added some plays that are era specific such as single and double drag screen sets and some zipper action used in seen in 2005 and those Gasol-Odom-Bynum teams.
I’ve been busy af starting my new job but I’ll try post a few vids each week moving forward.Last edited by taildog; 11-27-2022, 05:27 PM.Comment
