    Re: 2k23 The Rec

Love how when you throw someone open they're stunned. They have no idea what to do. Their whole brain stops for a tick because they're not used to getting set up. So they hesitate and then shoot but the D is already closing in. Or they try and drive but they run into a buzz saw in the paint because no one's spreading the floor.

People are so used to doing things themselves that I'm getting treated like a bum because I open up the game with 3 crisp passes to you and you can't capitalize. So now we're down, they all have turbo and we can't buy a bucket. I never see the ball back after I pass, either. And when people DO hit me back after I dump the pass I'm FOREVER wide open. I can get the entire defense to one side and someone drives on the strong side so I run to weak side corner and no one sees me.

I get real hoopers sometimes that now know to play with a PG. Everything's going great the first game. I splash 3 out of 3, they get their buckets, I get my 4-5 assists.

Literally the NEXT game they go back to ISO ball.

They get stuffed at the rim because I throw an outlet pass. They never stop, hold the ball, and kick it out to the wide open shooter because all 3 people collapsed on you in the paint.

Where's the guys who have EVER played a real life pickup game? I just wanna hoop.

      Re: 2k23 The Rec

Imagine my surprise... 2 LVL 40 players are sitting on the spot waiting for me. Played with both of them before they were 40 so I have an idea of their tendencies. They both can shoot and I'm on my PG. I don't have Gold Dimer or Flashy Gold on anymore, I elected for Bronze so I could get Silver Handles for Days. But I still have an 80 pass rating so first play of the game I drive, collapse the whole D and flashy out to a wide open shooter. He's stunned and doesn't fire immediately, instead he dribbles till his man closes out and bricks. I say "OK. Let's try the other guy". Next possession, same thing, I drive and kick to the other guy who bricks. Transition score down 0-4. This possession I run down and get a catch and shoot for Midrange and green my first shot.

My 2 points were all we scored. They were both 0-3 and 0-4 and the one assist and one play we scored on was an assisted basket. They finished with 9 assists as a team to win 21-2.

Even tho I didn't get any assists my point still stands. I passed up decent looks to get great looks to start the game. THEY didn't cash and THEY didn't score so it's MY fault I'm trying to get THEM going first?

How I know they blamed me was they both left the squad after the game.

Their whole team shot well, I can't defend my man if you guys are constantly trying to double the ball and leaving shooters open.

The tactics they use on bums works on bums. They can get whatever they want on subpar teams. The way the GOOD teams play is they move the ball. I been wiped off the court by a team of 3 kids that know how to play as a unit more times than I get beaten by randoms. Specifically unless I'm running with complete turds I can carry a team on either character against the best ISO players. I do it quite frequently.

Those PGs that have 2 shooters spacing and one guy dribbling is dead this year. I'm glad. What's never been better IMO is the passing. Defense, passing, these things are very enjoyable for me. I throw lob passes to the big all the time. It's a great counter to interceptor. All kids do is spam passing lanes so shooters are constantly wide. Flashy Bronze and Needle Threader make it easier to fit the ball thru tight spaces. Nooooo one else but the good teams use anything but the standard PASS.

I'm out here skip passing, bounce passing, flashy passing, lob passing, but IM the scrub???

      Man. This community.

        Re: 2k23 The Rec

Took a break. Made some coffee. Wrote this post. Start another game. Same F-ing thing happens again. I start off the game passing, they brick, I don't see the ball back but I get takeover. So now I'm pressing and go 1-6 from deep because I'm trying to do them all off the dribble instead of catch and shoot since I never see the ball back.

Yep this PG is WORTHLESS. I can't hit midrange consistently and I can't shoot 3s unless off a catch. No one likes passing so I'm stuck with a character whos GREAT with a PG or at least 2 teammates who are willing to shoot off the catch.

Get on my SF. I go 2/3 from deep WITHOUT takeover. Get takeover, play crazy D and outlet the ball they brick 5 possessions in a row and I never saw another 3. They came back with us up 5-6 points needing 2 scores.

          I can't bro. I can't.

I tried Tatum and the only way to trigger HOF Space creator was to hopstep with the tap...tap. that's way less intuitive than holding the stick one direction till the release. Idk why those moves are differentiated at all. It's the same movement but different commands. One I can be WAY more precise with.

Nothing nastier than driving right and holding the stick left for Luka mocap to do all the work for you. He's so subtle and it catches people off guard so we'll even tho it's SLOOOOOOW.

But with online it doesn't take my double taps that great. If I double tap trying to spin jumper it throws me into a hopstep sometimes. I wish Post Fade was the same as a Spin jumper... I should be able to put my shoulder into a defender and Kobe/Jordan/Dirk midrange fade with an 80 midrange PERIOD. That's just such an iconic move and it's so unguardable but they've been trying to say it's not a Spin Jumper for a decade now.

This is why I'm calling for JUMPSHOTS to just be JUMPERS. All across the board... Doesn't matter what badges or jumper you use, a 70 midrange in catch and shoot or off the bounce should be the same. Regardless of the set up, what I input BEFORE the shot shouldn't negate the fact that I shot a jumpshot from anywhere. THEN we're just hooping.

A layup driving right or left and a reverse should all go off layup rating. Quit trying to over complicate such a simple but complex sport as it is.

The pick and roll is the most basic and fundamental part of the game. They have 6 badges to run a pick and roll. Come on. Brick wall, pick dodger, ankle breaker, these are just superfluous badges. You go over the screen if he's a shooter and you dick the screen if he's not. Your Defensive rating should determine how well you fight through the screen. Maybe some weight/strength physics can go into that. A guard shouldn't be setting brick wall screens but that's a part of the game now isn't it?
Bruh… Mike Wang knows nothing about basketball and this is why we are here…

You think it makes any kind of sense to slow down your jumpshot when your wide open, and speed it up when your contested… no nba players jumpshot speed changes in those situations..

This stupid game has me missing layups with the slightest contest despite my layup being over 80… i go games where im 8/8 from 3 but 0/6 in the paint… you dont even have to contest my layup if somebody is remotely close to me on a layup ill miss..

                    Re: 2k23 The Rec

Yesterday I was on and got a squad invite from the guys that were LVL40 like 2 days before me. They play together all the time so the first game where they passed it to each other didn't bother me. I'm a PG so I got my 4-5 assists and played good defense. By our 3rd game or so they've maybe given me a couple fast break scores but nothing really in the half court. Finally they hit me wide, cash. They hit me again, bang bang. Now I'm hot with defensive takeover so I'm blocking shots and getting rebounds and steals. Both sent me friend requests but the SECOND their little squad partner got on they bailed on me. I gave them the peace sign and it was fun to know they knew I wasn't trash even tho I never have a good squad to face them. But these are the best guys on the system I've seen. Like I said there's not much of a player base. I see the same 100 players almost every day.

I just wish randoms would pass. Ever.

It's at SF, pretty solid for a replica build. I made one that has more playmaking with 85 dribble but only 70 rebound and it's over 300k VC just to get to 90... Just crazy. Can also lower the wingspan one and get 89 three for gold agent 3. Haven't decided if I want to invest in it yet lol

There's actually a sale on VC right now I believe. But bro... If you got a 70 jumper and some interior defense I would have a field day with you on these kids at the park. Like I said, not much of a Rec community which is sad. I much prefer that on PS4.

My new build is a 6'7 PG 230LBS. I didn't max his strength it's only at a 70 but I'm not trying to poster everyone so I didn't make him fat because of that. What it does for me as a guard that even my 6'9SF doesn't really get at 219 are the complete shoveback animations on D. I have a 93 driving dunk and am working on my 83 Middie and 3 right now. 70s across the board on defense. I'm running Sharp/Shot takeover for career but I go to Lock/Sharp for the park. I've ran the 3 several times and out rebound glass cleaners with speed and positioning. I do it on my SF all the time and tho I'm not as tall, the girth really helps on box outs as well. Trying to unlock my flashback games for the additional few defense and playmaking badges. But I'm running mostly bronze playmaking badges and they do me pretty nicely.

He's got the exact shooting of my other PG with the finishing of my SF. Where I sacrificed in my physicals from SF and my other PG I was able to make a more well rounded player than the other 2. I'm currently a 97 and only have a couple more bars to get him to a 99 but my other 2 characters can play with anyone as well.

I'm a team player first, always. I struggle if I'm trying to create for myself the whole game. I'd much rather throw a dump pass early and play off the ball than dribble all my stamina off and not be able to do anything the rest of the shot clock.

Would love to get a few games.

Not at all. During the daytime most of the parks are full. Tomorrow is the new season so I'll be happy to see a bunch of these fake 40s back where they belong. I made it to Legend last year but I don't see it happening this year. I scored 13k points in season 2. I only completed 1 season quest and I don't have a single game at GOAT level. Idk the criteria for that is. I played a lot of ones so it ain't scoring 21 points.

Double rep Rec Day will be fun the first weekend of the season. But I may have screwed myself on that as all of my characters are over 92.

Either way, I've won with 60s if they pass. I rarely lose if my teammates are working the ball. I make a ton of swing passes. They may not always produce points but I bend the defense. I may throw up some dumb looking shots but it's mostly cuz I'm majorly delayed. The problem with most park kids is if you miss one they won't ever let you get your change back. Ever. Bruuuuuhhhh I've kicked it to so many guys after they bricked a red shot for them to green the next one. I get selfish after they take 9 shots and I got 2, for sure. But WITH NO GAME CHAT I feel my 55/42 shooting splits are still pretty solid.

I don't get upset when the ball is skipping around and everyone is missing and we lose. I get upset when I've hit a few shots and I got takeover but they won't LET me shoot. I get upset when someone scores a bunch the first game because I'm feeding them, then the next game the team shuts them down and they wanna leave me cold halfway thru the game but expect me to pull them out of it. I get upset when teammates see me hit 4/4 threes the previous game and I don't get a single attempt beyond the line until were down the next game. I get upset when people see I'm upset and force feed me the ball and I get a turnover. That's not what I wanted. I don't want the ball in terrible positions, I want you to throw me open like I did you several times since I've ran with you.

When I touch the ball sometimes everyone just stands there. I drive and they're still under the basket so I get blocked by their man. Sometimes I get triple teamed and they're so close to me I get a turnover and leads to a fast break.

When I dont have the ball I'm on the weak side. Every play. Wherever the 2 other players are, I'm opposite. Why do they not know to space me out the same?

It's funny when you DO get a good squad. It feels like I was cured of cancer I'm so relieved. I can breathe fresh air. Problem is with most good players, if you're not ISO they don't play with you.

Oh .. so I'm trash cuz I PASS out of double teams?
