    Re: 2k23 The Rec

I almost JR Smithed my squad

48-48. My teammate said “Who has free throws?”

I said that I do, He passed it to me and I proceeded to hold the hall for 15 seconds to go into overtime

Fortunately I dropped 8 in OT to help us win…we laughed about it the whole time, lol

However, when I was still playing, I remember playing games on Sundays at the "old men's gym"...you all know what I'm talking about, lol! On this day, some young fellas showed up. They were like in their early 20's. We were playing games, and all I could think of was how much trash talking that they were doing every single minute of the game. It was basically borderline disrespectful. No, it was disrespectful. If I still had my hops, I would have told my teammates to "plant" him in the paint, so I could rise up and dunk on him.

My team managed to beat their team (like MyPark, they must have thought their youth was going to carry them to a win), but they will still yapping. Me and my friend looked at each, and I asked "Were WE like that when we were younger????".

Finally, I had to do the Damian Lillard motions while screaming "Next!".

From COD MW till like BO2 i was as toxic as it came lol.

Ranked 2K , Madden and Pro evo it was the same.

        Not to mention tournaments lmao

Wasent till i joined sim nation that i changed my ways whahha

Also i have reached the point when if i play against a full squad i just quit.

Funny how they consider that bad sportsmanship but still allow this nonesense to continue.

Bad sportsmanship is going in REC playing like its the 2K league.

On a 2nd note i will just dashboard just to stop getting this BS message.

            A note on online toxicity:

We’d like to think it’s all young people. But it is not. Had a grown man threatening his teammate in the party last week. Literally asking him to send a location over a bad game. It’s nuts.

That lowlife comment was unnecessary and I’m glad it’s being ignored. Rightfully so.

BUT this community is definitely something. What I wonder is how many of them actually go outside and play basketball because the way some of them play, I’m sorry does everyone have a pass button? Seems rare. Everybody is a ball hog regardless of skill. In my day, you at least had to be good if you were gonna hog the ball! It seems these folks don’t know how basketball is actually played when others are involved. Everyone plays like it’s a 1 v 1 mini game inside a larger game, no matter the mode. And the shots they take lmao. It’s like, bro you’re shooting over the whole team at least take a shot that has a chance to go in!

When I was younger I’d be upset by it. Now I just laugh. It’s frustrating. But unchanging. Just gotta find a group to play with and laugh instead of rage when randoms go random.

              Re: 2k23 The Rec

Play a few games of Rec if

              - you want to lose all faith in humanity

              - you want to see what ballin with crackheads looks like

              - you want to see LEGIT mentally disabled people with controllers

              - you want to see 2 or 3 bff lovers pass the ball to eachother

              - you like shaking your head and face palming every 5 min

No lie, not even joking -- these ADULTS in Rec have real mental / IQ problems IRL. Like GPA of 0.5 kind've issues. I wonder how they're capable of even firing up the console.

This is exactly why Rec should never be random only…or at least have dedicated lobby

Running with like minded individuals is unmatched.

Imagine making a post player and your team actually feeds you

The thing is, it seems, that if you go into Rec w 1 you end up with, likely, a group of 3 and 1 other. If you go in w/ 2, you get a group of 3, almost always. You can tell by how they play w/ each other IMO.

They need a better way to match up play styles is all. I think a lot of people are afraid to pass, tho, and stealing passes makes them more wary. They actually have less chance of turning it over dribbling, so they think. But that's why I throw the occasional hard trap as a C and if my team is awake that's almost always a steal. Or I get to watch my man walk right to the hoop and get a dunk. It's like :o

There needs to be a 'craziest things people said in rec' thread. Not like all the racism, insulting, delete your build... but like actual statements that people believe to be true. Like I played this game where this guys' man had like 17 assists or something. And I was like yo man we gotta change how we are playing D, we are getting killed, and he's like nah man my guy has 0... 2... whatever it was... points, once the ball is out of my man's hand, my job as a defender is over. And I'm on the mic... generally don't get on the mic, but I am like stuttering because I can't believe he said that, and I am trying to think of a way to explain it to him.

Other times tho, some fist pumps, some double flops face first out of bounds after someone does some really wild stuff (like get their jumper blocked lool,) works out. The only problem is they always wanna pass the ball to YOU then. When you say man can you just pass, they start feeding you the ball. It's like no... pass in general. I don't want it. I'll get mine. Make your move and if it doesn't work GIVE UP THE BALL and go somewhere else to look for a score.

The whole swinging the ball to the other side of the D, spacing the floor, all that is lost. I don't think they are all young, but a lot of them are at least pretty young. Like I've laughed at, plenty of people holding their babies tho haha.

Still my fav line "dunked on him so hard he dropped his baby." :P

I'm not really toxic. I try to help dudes, too, but I def am animated when people are selling. I can usually get people to quit at least if they are doing 3 sec or w/e. It's a battle ground. Gotta get your team on the same page and then figure out how to win. I'm pretty perceptive basketball wise, and if there are dudes who, when the buzzer sounds, I still don't understand what they are trying to do on O and D... it's just like heh. But yeah, gimme the kinda bad people who pass and play their roles over the dribblers. Dudes don't realizing it's sucking the life out of the team by over dribbling.

Then they time me out when I reb and push the ball up the court as a C haha. People pass to me oince they realize I will hit them back and that I have boosted pass badges. I mean, if nothing is working, and we got like 10 sec, lemme get a high post touch and we'll see what happens. Dudes pass off w/ like 2 seconds. BET I CAN'T FLICK IT RIGHT BACK. Bum!! But yea... like I said... battlefield.

So I’m 31 and came from the generation where you basically lived outside until the streetlights came on.

I think most of these social media, Wi-Fi kids never actually play outside in real life. Certain aspects of the game translate from real life and I’m always surprised when ppl don’t know this stuff. Simple stuff like if you are down 3 with like 30 seconds left, you don’t HAVE to take a 3 yet.

I’m also surprised at how little ppl use anticipation when dribble driving. When dudes drive on 4 ppl and then say “dang why didn’t i dunk?” I lose my mind. It’s so easy to just pass.

But I’ve said this for years tho. 2k has conditioned and rewarded ppl for getting good at 1 on 1 but not actual basketball.
